This TV is Best Buy's DOTD today btw...$659 for the 49" set: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-49...h-dynamic-range-black/4801802.p?skuId=4801802
I think maybe the voice control function of the remote is being referred to?
However all you need to do is enable hdmi control in the ps4 settings then the ps4 will make the TV power on and switch to the right source. You will also be able to control the ps4 menus using the TV remote including play /pause etc in Netflix and other apps
Why didn't I know this? Thank you!
I dug further into the RTINGS.com settings and tried out the Adv. Color Temperature settings. I was pretty pleased with the settings, and really like them so far. All my connections are set to them now. PS4, XBONE, PC, and Cable. Give them a try and see what you think. I have the 49 inch X800D.
you really shouldnt use those settings because they are panel specific, and thus the results will vary quite a bit.
guaranteed you arent getting the same picture that the rtings team are by using them.
yeah it might look ok to your eye, but to a spectrometer they will be way off.
Ooooo awesomeUpdate is out ! (you have to manually download it for now)

Picture-in-picture is disappointing. You can't, for example, have the YouTube app on top of an input like a PS4. You can only have it the other way around, with the YouTube app being fullscreen and the PS4 being in a tiny box in the top right of the screen. It's the complete opposite of what I wanted.
That's crazy.
The picture-in-picture also disappears if you try to watch a video so I'm really confused as to what the purpose even is.
Meh.
So does Youtube HDR work with this update?
What? the only way to update is through usb?

I think it's only for now. They will probably push it out soon.
Do you have to update with USB? Mine says it's up to date.
The menus feel a bit snappier than before with the update. They changed the look of the picture settings menu and it seems to have given them better performance. You can also select between HDR modes now since HLG HDR has been added

What's HLG HDR and which one's better?

same question. looks like it forces hdr even on content that dont support it?
This HLG update enables YouTube HDR videos to be viewed properly on X800D?

It's Hybrid Log Gamma HDR; the one that YouTube supports https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_Log-Gamma
On hdr content you've viewed before or? If you're selecting it while watching non HDR content it'll definitely look different.what about hdr10? im seeing a big difference when it selected

You could always force HDR10, it was just an on or off (or auto) option. It certainly looks different, but it isn't at all what you want to do since it isn't officially supported. It looks very bad.
Updating now, you said it felt snappier on the menus? I wonder what else is there under the hood that wasn't mentioned..... Realistically, how long can we expect updates for this TV? One, maybe two more years? As of right now. It will eventually get pushed out to your TV and will download it itself.

Picked up the X900E yesterday and had a few questions:
Is the Roku Ultra the best HDR/4K streamer out there or are the in-TV apps sufficient?
Is there a consensus on the best UHD player or should I wait on those?
Are there any (professionally calibrated?) settings besides the rtings ones? They feel just a touch muted.
I'd say the apps are perfectly fine. As for UHD players, personally I'd wait until the content is there. If I were to buy one now, I'd just get an Xbox One S - it's by far the cheapest UHD bluray player and you get an OK game system as a bonus.Picked up the X900E yesterday and had a few questions:

Interesting, now when you go to home to look at apps and stuff it doesn't turn off the input you're on and is still visible behind the home screen. Nice little touch.
What's the color space do? I see on the PS4 Pro auto is the same as sRGB/BT.709. What is BT.2020? It looks more colorful but is that only HDR color or what?
Did anybody try to install it on a EU model yet? I have a 55XD8005.
I have the same EU model and i would like to know as well if that is even possible.
I wonder how different firmwares are between regions since essentially tv should be same minus the model name and size.

About to install the update on the 43 inch version. Hopefully this will fix the HDR for ps4 games. If not, going to move to a monitor b/c then there's not point.
