I've been talking to this girl for about a week now, saw her twice. The only downfall is she doesn't get my sarcasm. She's cute, and when I make duller jokes she finds me funny, but when I'm sarcastic she legitimately thinks I'm dumb, and actually corrects me. I've told her it was sarcasm a few times, but she doesn't get it. It's at the point where when she corrects me, I just say thanks. I don't think we're compatible. Shame, because she's pretty cool in every other way. I just can't live with that, because my humor is 80% sarcasm.

If I have to hide my interest for "geeky" stuff then she is not the one for me.
Ugh posters.... I hate posters that aren't really subtle. I have two videogame posters up, but they're orioto's works so that they're pretty darn subtle and no one would know it's from a game unless they know the game. I have mostly the same view on my gaming wear, not overly obvious and no logo stuck on the thing lol... I have one that's kinda garish but it's actually just a weight progress shirt, once I can fit in it it's new wardrobe time

Nerdiest thing I have is a yarn yoshi amiibo. I don't consider the consoles nerdy, games are in CD holders, cases are in a closet. I'm pretty down with keeping everything sleek.

I don't see why having things of niche interest is a problem. If the person you're dating isn't shallow, they'll likely look past how "nerdy" it is.
That being said, the nerdiest things I have is an Xbox 360 and a few small posters of rare cars, nothing else. There's a ton of little things I nerd out about, but they're not really poster or collection worthy.
Yeah, I'm kind of a minimalist. I can't really function with nick nacks floating around my spaces.

I'm the exact same lol, it's pretty fun when someone gets the vague reference. If I own any clothing from a franchise, I make sure it's subtle enough to wear basically anywhere.

girl 2) recently married. I knew her before the marriage so we're still good friends who hang out (w/o the husband). There's more to this story but let's just say we've been able to stay just friends.
girl 3) another friend from work (although she doesn't work under my manager) who's trying to get her affairs in order. I wouldn't want to mess that up.
probably my entertainment center. Even then I have shaped it to where it fits with the overall aesthetic of my apartment.

Besides that, there's a SNES, vacation photos to nerdy places (Disney World, Japan), and boardgames. Fairly tame I think, especially considered the decor that preceded it (there were dragons, anime figures, and Hot Toys Iron Man figures)

I have two Marvel comic book cover posters framed on my wall in my apartment, a Spider-Man and X-Men one. Other then that I keep most of my nerdy shit in drawers or on a bookshelf.
I own a five foot Snorlax. 👀 It's the one thing I own that doesn't go into a drawer or can be hidden.

Yeah. I like nerdy geeky shit but I just don't think it makes for good decoration. I pretty much hate clutter. It's partly why I dont even bother with collectors edition stuff. I don't wanna deal with storing all that shit. Even game cases is too much for me these days.

I would buy digital a lot more if friggin' consoles were shipped with enough space. It's a joke.
I don't have a big problem with having my cases out, but I don't try to make them look special or anything, they're just... there, lol. I know a lot of peeps like displaying their collections and all that but I'm like... nah...
I also don't get collector's stuff anymore either. I don't need it, I just want the game.

I guess nerdiest is video game systems + some comic book collections on a book shelf with 90% other books. Maybe unsurprisingly it's been a problem for many which is sad but oh well.
The only things that give away signs of me being a nerd in my room are an Xbox 360 Elite box on top of an two door closet with clothes inside and this Dark Souls II CE statue (except that the right sword broke on my statue) in front of it:
A bunch of retired badges from cons that I've worked/attended/volunteered at hanging on my closet's door with different lanyards on it, a Star Wars Sphero BB8 on one of my windowsills (I had no intention of keeping it and still want to sell it), and a bunch of boxes stacked with old con badges.
If one were to look behind my bed, there's a bunch of giant swag bags full stuff from prior cons; graphic novels, all sorts of books, and other stuff beneath the table where my TV and 360 rest at.
All the games are either in my brother's room, in my drawers, the living room entertainment center, or in my closet. Otherwise, girls would be charmed off by a bunch of paintings that I did in undergrad that hang along my bedroom walls and art supplies. I've only brought one girl over and that was a one and done thing because I never saw her again. In general, I'm much more proud to display my own art work in my room than I am to display nerdy stuff. I don't buy CE's at because it takes up too much space.

Yeah same situation. Cases though is a problem of aggregate. Buy too many games, then you just have shit tons of cases and I dont have space for then all. I dont sell my games so I am gonna start disposing of the cases immediately tbh. Tired of this shit.
The stuff is sometimes cool but then like I know I will never display it and on top of the games already being absurdly expenaive in Canada I just am like "nope". If I am gonna put it in a box then I prob should just not buy it I figure.
That is stylish as hell. Though tbh, if no one can tell its from something that is nerdy then it's less suspect by default. I'm talking replica master sword stuff. When I get a newer place I will prob look into Orioto art to see if anything fits my decor.
I dunno. I find game consoles aren't really a big judgement thing these days. "I have a PS4, I play games on it and watch netflix" really isnt something I expect to go over poorly with most people. As stupid as it is the presentation matters more than the content for w/e reason. I prob get away with it more since there is no way you would assume I game talking to me I suppose.

So I have been talking to two women online since...well...you know. One is a woman I was talking to while chatting up my last date that kind of fizzled cause she's pretty busy with her job and I just started concentrating on the other one. I ended up reopening the CMB chat to check up on her and she happily agreed to talk some more. Other one seems a little interesting I guess still need to figure that one out. None of them have hit me with the don't text me daily thing yet since ones busy and replies a few times a day and the other...well I honestly have no idea. The newer one started chatting with me while I was going through my goth stupor and I eventually took a break and started talking to her again about a day or two later. Whatever happens happens, if something happens, whelp I'm getting some new shirts I guess and some shoes.

There's a part of me that thinks it's easier for guys to accept a woman being a geek on that level than it is for a woman to accept a guy being a geek on that level, but I don't believe it to be a hardline rule, everybody is just...different. Granted I tend to be pretty wrong with my social thought processes as evidenced by well...a crap ton of posts since last week. I guess what I'm learning currently is that everything just has to be balanced out right.

I think people love geeks. They are passionate, dont care what people think, and have eclectic interests. When it becomes the single driving force behind who you are, it can get a little overwhelming. I'm using the universal "you" here. Like, talk about geeky stuff when asked, or when it's invited. Don't ask a girl over to play mario for her unsolicited. If she says "tell me why you like mario games", then that's an invite to hit her with the big guns.

Popped into my head because it's a hot day out today and even in just jeans and a shirt it's really rolling off me. I can only imagine if you're taking efforts to look nice (plus any date related nervousness) and you're anything like me you'll be sweating like nobody's business.
I guess douse yourself in antiperspirant, but anything else? That stuff only goes so far. (obviously don't be fat is another answer but eh)
