We came a long way, huh

Damn we need a wall of shame.

I'm surprised too seems like most people were happy and surprised except for like one poster that claimed it's because of it's female lead

Most people are happy. About 99% of people who have offered their opinion of the reviews are really excited to see the movie and pleased that Wonder Woman and DC are finally getting their dude, except that one guy several pages back who was raging against Ghostbusters or whatever.

Inceptional just wants to pick a fight, it seems.

Than why steer the attention to all the shit they hate?

There isn't?

It's a DC thread so now there is a discussion about another entry in the DC verse and it's portrayal of Batman and whether that's good or not. A film Wonder Woman herself was in.

I don't go into Marvel threads expecting zero discussion of the MCU films or it's characters. The DCU and MCU are essentially huge budget TV shows. I'm not gonna go into the review thread of Season 7 of Game of Thrones and expect no one to bring up anything that happened in 1-6.

Well I actually enjoyed all of the DCEU movies so far, so this will probably be the best comic book movie of the last few years for me based on these reviews

Although I honestly don't care for Super Hero Movies at all (I know, crazy right?), this getting the reviews it has, and being directed by and starring a woman, makes me REALLY want to see it. The previews also look really good, I'm honestly kind of excited for this (seems like something new and fresh, if that makes sense).

I am really glad this is getting positive reviews. It was my most anticipated DCEU movie.

As far as Batman killing people. Well if you are shooting large caliber weapons, attempting to throw grenades at someone while holding a hostage (superman's mom) on a clock as part of a private military organization you knew what you were getting involved with. Very few of the people getting killed were just low level street criminals. They were private military armed to the teeth.

No changes. He's finishing up post-production.

Lmao.

A ton of things change during the last stretch of a movie, if Whedon handles the final cut then you can be sure he'll add his own input into the mix.

He will try his best to preserve Snyder's vision, but I'm sure he'd try to at least fix glaring issues, unless it's structurally flawed by design. Then it's doomed.

O jeez...I am getting super excited.

After eating some crow, I am really excited to watch this. Maybe I will do a double feature with this and Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Best Batman is BTAS Batman.

And Mask of the Phantasm is a top 5 superhero movie.
Honestly, I like Phantasm more than any other Batman movie, including Dark Knight.

Oh, and to keep things on topic, not only am I glad to finally get both a good DCEU movie, and a good female superhero movie (about damn time), but I'm just glad there's finally another Summer Blockbuster worth seeing. For me, it has been a dry spell since Vol 2, where as in March I was going to the theater almost every weekend.

Yeah, May was pretty quiet and outside of WW most of June seems to be as well. July is fucking STACKED though. From June 28 - July 28 we've got Baby Driver, Spider-Man, Dunkirk, War for the Planet of the Apes and Atomic Blonde.

Man, from half these posts it seems the salty fanboys just can't accept that the DCEU has an objectively great movie coming out. Whatever you think about the rest of the films, let's stay focused on WW right now, eh boys?

That word doesn't mean what you seem to think it does.

But yes, it's great that critics seem to be loving WW. Hopefully that translates into massive box office so Warner keeps making DCEU movies like this and less like SS and BvS.

As a die-hard DC fan....it feels really weird to finally be genuinely excited to see a DC Movie. Great, but weird...especially given how long I've associated the DCEU with dismal, poorly written stories. Imagine how great things will be if we start getting legitimately great DC films every year along with the Marvel and X-Men stuff? We'll have achieved the highest state of geeky nirvana.

She didn't. That's part of the reason why she bulked up for the role.

I am pretty sure this was not just about muscles. Just a bunch of nerds freaking out over nothing - it's really pathetic to read.

But hey, same happened to Ledger and Affleck, but this really is another level.

This weekend is going to be so important for the future of women in film—in front of and behind the camera.

Please GAF, go out and get as many people as you can to see it. We need to send a message to Hollywood 💪🏽

Probably won't make as much money but will probably have more legs than at least BvS if it makes sense since it would have better Wom hopefully

No, it probably was about muscles. And it wasn't unprecedented - Michael Keaton wasn't perceived to embody Batman either when he was cast, with attributes like his height called into question.

There's nothing controversial about seeing negative responses to a thin supermodel, with limited acting experience, being cast as Wonder Woman. If anything it's encouraging that people wanted the character to be more than a pretty face, which is all it seemed like Gadot was capable of offering in those early days.

You know. You should maybe go back and read that tweet. It's not very nice. There is a way to say things nicely. The post I picked up was just at random.

Anyway, don't need to respond any further, because I won't. People said stuff and I hope they are aware of it and changed for the better.

I loved Suicide Squad for Margot Robbie despite the meh reviews, so I know I'll like his one with these kinds of reviews. <3

Productions are starting soon, it's probably too late

That so? We should start hearing castings soon then, no? Hope that Megan Fox rumor doesn't turn out to be true... Poison Ivy is my fiancé's favorite comic-book character and that casting would crush her.

I say, get Jessica Chastain. Add a bit of a may-december aspect to the Harley/Ivy romance. :P

Any Wonder Woman characters/villains we'd like to see in the sequel?

Personally I'm rooting for Cheetah. Veronica Cale would also be great for a modern story.
Circe has to be next at bat. She was Diana's main villain for quite sometime and has more than enough depth to carry a film.

I'd also love to see The Duke of Deception and Doctor Psycho.
