Easy Allies @ E3 2017 Streaming Thread & Schedule

I can understand not being crazy about the Devolver conference, but jesus the Allies were acting so butthurt and self serious about the whole thing. Relax guys lol

Respect to Ian for at least giving it a fair shot.

They gave it a shot. They just didn't want it to drag on as long as it did.

Huber backtracking lol

During the presser he said it "gives comedy a bad name."

and now he says "I'm in no position to judge comedy." after he hears people liked it.

To be honest, I don't know why Huber is getting so offended. As if the production values aren't to his 'high' standards.

Huber, the hype guy who does Huber Syndrome (a show in which he just hypes stuff)

It's all in good fun man, relax.
It was obvious, he needed to release his Evil Within 2 hype and it got interrupted by a non-serious "press conference"

But yeah, the reaction the allies had was a little to dismissive and aggressive for what it was.

Yea, Huber acting weird and he is in the moderator role. Ian and Kyle seemed to really like it, lol.

Because it's been 8 hours and it's 10PM where they are. They went into it thinking it was a real thing.

After them complaining about charity talk invading EA's conference it was a bit funny them being put through devolver's conference.

Do EZA usually scoff at cursing so much? I came to the stream because Giant Bomb wasn't covering devolver and found it frustratingly negative.

I wish they had given it more of their attention... I feel like they should have endured the entire conference without disengaging (and talking over it). That being said, it was essentially one giant bit that quickly wore out its welcome.

I think its because it was lampooning E3/the industry/hype culture, and it may have struck a bit close to home as comedy is oft to do for its *targets*.

No they haven't. It was a bad Bethesda conference followed by something the majority of them thought was unfunnny.

I disagree. I thought Bethesda's conference was perfectly fine, but then I also realize it wasn't a conference all about hype-kool aid so there's nothing much there for them to work with.

I mean, not really? They do self deprecating humor themselves all the time, Don's Discount Gaming is basically this just less surreal.

Oh so you just don't like the Allies.

That's all you had to say.

Self-depreciating humor is different (you're in control of the humor) from someone else doing the comedy.

Come now, if you were making jokes about yourself vs. if I was making jokes at your expense, which would you prefer?

You can tell Ian was the only person who actually 'got it' - but didn't really want to speak out to defend it because of how aloof all the other allies were.

He gave his opinion guys. He said he enjoys that type of humor at times but didn't think it was done very well tonight. I agree with him.

I'm pretty sure Kyle was only laughing at a couple things too.

I don't think it's fair to shit on anyone for not liking it they all seemed quite tired and were put through a serious mediocre conference. Even ignoring that, it's a very specific type of humour that Devolver was going for - to the point that annoying people was almost certainly part of the goal.

It's 1AM where I am. I wasn't pissed at the troll and again it started during a time they were scheduled to still be streaming anyways, it wasn't like they stayed extra time after the fact for this one.

No. It's Because they were all pretty into it to start off. Kyle immediately identified what it was and enjoyed the start. But the problem was they ran each bit too into the ground. You knew the punchline but it'd go on minutes longer and just got worse over time.

You can't claim that type of humor has wide appeal

Yeah, who cares how they felt, it's not some big deal. This shouldn't be a "thing"

When I watch such streams I don't want people on the board actively trying to shut it down. I don't care if they thought it was unfunny or express as much.

Okay, you seem to be in the minority on that one, even based on the GAF thread. That thing was a disaster up until TEW2.

Also, EZA and other journalists had to rush all their shit to get ready for the next conference only to have it be "trolling."

Not everyone finds trolling funny.

Huber was pretty much not having any of it from the get go though.

I don't want to type up a huge post right now so I can watch Devolver, but I way disagree with them on Bethesda. Maybe I'm just letting my own personal interest in the games bias my score, since the trailers were admittedly unclear for a lot of the games, and paid mods is a scummy thing to slip in there, but I think Bethesda has been the best conference so far for me. I know it was short, but I'd prefer short over filler any day. Some of the trailers just needed a better editor.

I'd give it like a 7.5 or 8, probably on par with Microsoft.

How in gods name could you think that please explain how that "conference" was on par with Microsoft.

The Devolver Digital 'press conference' was a roller coaster, where I was enjoying it, then not enjoying it, then enjoying it, then wanting it to end.

Think Kyle said it. Some of the of the bits went on way too long.

GAF is definitely not the place to gauge Bethesda, some of their offerings are far too casual-leaning for it to resonate well with GAF. The highlight for GAF being TEW2 only furthers this point, but even if you were to ignore everything but TEW2 and Wolfenstein, those were still two great looking projects that we will get to play this year in short order. I see nothing "disastrous" about that at all.

I had both EA and GB open for that stream, and boy were the takes near 180-degrees apart on what was shown. I was actually surprised by the dissonance. Not often do I expect to find GB acting as a comparable bastion of optimism.

The conference was shit.

It was funny for a minute. They all had a laugh. They got it. They understood what it was doing. It just wasn´t done very well and went on for way too long.

I like Eric Andre, i get the humor they were going for. It was garbo though.

Yeah, it had good legit fun moments, and others terrible.
But of course the conference itself will become like a martyr now, because they went for the "lulz" and made people mad.

Not at all. They don't really care. They just didn't find the bit funny.

Oh ok cool. I ocassionally listen to EZA podcasts and never got a 'we hate people who curse' vibe in the past.

Do you honestly think that kind of humor is for everybody?

No, I was just wondering if EZA were extremely anti-cursing. I thought the devolver thing was weird too. I just found it funnier than the EZA people did. That's fine. I still like EZA.

Bethesda could have split TEW2 & Wolfenstein trailers between Sony & Microsoft conferences and everything else could have just been in a press release and drop the trailers during the next few days.

People getting butt hurt over EZA not liking Devolver's humor is more entertaining than their "conference".

As a fan of anti-comedy, I really hate the reactions towards people who don't "get it" like they're idiots or cynics for not liking a very specific, niche brand of comedy that doesn't work more than it does.

Yea. Each year their conference gets worse. Just do a direct or not have one next year if you don't have something meaty to show
