I think this is exactly why the Boo's saga is my favorite. And I really love the fact that Majin Boo is clearly a metaphor to the second war or cold war (idk), he goes on a rampage destroying city by city, one by one, until Picollo says (iirc) that 80% of Earth's population is dead.
After that Super Boo simply kill all of the remaining people with a single attack from the place where God lives.
Then Kid boo arrives at the scene and the first thing he does is completely destroy the Earth, nothing remains after that.
But wait, it's not over! Kid Boo goes into space destroyng planet by planet until he arrives at a planet where the dead people live (!!!!!!) and try to kill them, again, while they're already dead!!!
I mean, wtf is happening here?

The art looks slicker to me in Black & White, the color takes away from it somehow. Not the "color" specifically, but the style of the coloring. If it was styled in a different way I might like it better.
And fillers?
Seriously, some of you folks shouldn't ever be recommending anything to newcomers. Just because you folks were able to get into the incredibly slow pacing whenever you started doesn't mean it's a great place to start for people completely fresh to the series.
(I'd also argue that Grandma Goku is not a net positive for the series post OG-Dragon Ball, but that's just me...)
Funi Dub of Dragon Ball is actually really good, outside of very few edits to tone down some adult humour, the cast are great and it retains the original music. It's also a show you can blast through in a month especially if you have it on as background entertainment to get through some of the filler stuff.

The movies are REALLY non-canon. Like not even anime canon.
If you want to watch the best version of Dragon Ball, you need to watch:
1. Dragon Ball
2. Dragon Ball Z
3. Dragon Ball Super
Kai is a lazy, shitty, low budget, cash grab, edited down version of DBZ done 20 years after the fact. It's not fucking good. It's shorter than the original version, of course, but it's fucking weird and the animation is all over the god damn place because there's like 3 episodes of Z being spliced into 1 episode of Kai.
I highly recommend watching the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball and Z. It's a lot of episodes, but it's WELL worth it. We aren't just talking about any cartoon here. This is one of the most influential and popular pieces of animation in the history of the world, and for good reason.

That's pretty cray cray, this is a first. They tied once before, but never has Super beat OP.
If it's about having the most authentic experience with the series, going with the manga until one reaches Super is the only way to go about it.
If that's not a concern, then there's no reason to go through garbage like fake namik, no reason to drag out everything to a crawl. Kai might might have been a lazy way to celebrate the series, but it is a fine way to experience it, especially if one wants to go with the dub.

I was just thinking about the first scenes of the original DB that I saw airing on TV (Tao Pai Pai killing Bora), and I realized something.
Kami's Lookout is one of the places with the most amount of scenes in the whole story, but we never see the Sacred Land of Korin and it's just downstairs.

IN THEORY Kai would be more authentic than the original run (i.e an animated version of the story with a quicker pace, no filler), but in reality, Kai is the absolute shits.
I honestly believe Kai will not leave the same impression on a viewer as the original show. In a bad way. It's too all over the place. Z is slower paced but far more focused.
Or maybe they wanted more Goten and Trunks. And Marron.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree there, I loved Kai to bits. Much more than the filler filled Z, not having episodes of meandering nonsense or powering up was a godsend. Soundtrack, pacing, everything is just better to me. I introduced my brother to the series with it and it hooked him right away.
Likewise, though I'll note that I watched the original Japanese run of Kai with the Yamamoto soundtrack (all the way up to Super Perfect Cell which is when they started editing Kikuchi's tracks in to replace Yamamoto's).
I loved it to bits. Far more authentic to the Dragon Ball manga than the filler-ridden DBZ.

- (Watch the driving episode).
- Watch Battle of Gods.
- Watch Return of F, maybe.
- Then start Super at whatever episode was after Return of F.
