Did the original Splatoon have sun and clouds transition? Like it would get very sunny sometimes then the clouds would appear and become darker.

I just played a match where someone had an NES zapper as a weapon. Has anyone seen this and know how to get it? Wonder if it's an amiibo thing.

No it's an unlock available to anyone. I forgot what rank it unlocked at, but no Amiibo required.

Oh whoops you waited so much that there is only 20 seconds left and oh shit more curling bombs

Don't wait as long then lol.

No, when that kind of stage starts everyone should group at a chokepoint and let them come to you. It's a shooting gallery.

Well, yeah, I guess that works. I just remember my first experience getting swarmed and no one really being there beside me because, clearly, no one reads their manuals and knows what the hell is happening while I'm getting rushing by a trillion little bastards.

Nothing matters except for how much turf you control at the end of the match. You need to focus on controlling the map. You can consistently score 400 points and only average 2 kills and still win the majority of your games if you know how to control the map and stay alive.
I do that, just sucks when the other 3 don't. Gets annoying being the best player in the room and continue to be on the losing team.

It's true. For casual mode, you can join your friend's game in progress, and then it'll randomize teams, so you may be together, or not.

For ranked mode, you can't team up at all. It's all solo q.

The only way to team up is to play League mode. This requires that you achieved a rank of at least B- in one of the ranked modes (you start off at C-)

Thanks for the quick response

I'm unsure if they changed it from the original, but you could play with four friends against strangers. But seeing they changed quite a bit in the matchmaking and the rules, I can't guarantee that it still works.

Also note that this is only for Turf Wars, Ranked you have to do completely at random until atleast rank B, once you've reached that you can play the new mode (the purple one, don't know the name) with friends.

Thanks again for explaining that, the only issue for me is I largely prefer to play multiplayer games with friends, just enjoy having them on the mic and putting in work together.

The grind to lvl 10 is real. But thankfully the Aerospray MG eases the pain.

I know, it's weird. I feel like it didn't take me nearly that long to get to 10 in the first game, but maybe I just played it that much more.

I think it's like rank 9 or 11 or somewhere around there.

Am I crazy, or ar rollers awful now? The flick is so slow, jumping to paint is like the old dynamo flick-jump trick but sucks, and the OHKO range is abysmal.

Been 0laying quite a bit of Salmon Run today. Pretty fun, but damn, sometimes it just stacks the deck against you. When it sinks and then throws three or four bosses, along with a cloud, you can get totally fucked.

Since people are putting tips:

If you die, just to go to where your teammates are and get shot by them, don't wait for them to come to you.

You get two or three supers, use them.

If you are the target of the mob or boss, try to go near your teammates, but next to them. If there is a T-intersection, try to split to one side, with your teammates on the other side.

During the Golden Cowries (Or whatever), treat it like tower defense, with the target of the horde near the collection pipe and others at high points along the way, that way you can all thin it out before they get to the target and the target can get the boss eggs.

Finally tried Salmon Run, why did I wait this long to play this mode?!

When I wake up tomorrow I expect my glorious Inkbrush to be ready, of course I'm now almost at Octobrush anyway.
On that note do we know what the inkbrush comes with?

Just wrapped singleplayer, good shit, good shit.
a bit disappointed Off the Hook had no part whatsoever to play in the story at all, but i kinda knew that by like level 3 i guess. Octavio was great as ever, though I wish we heard more original Octavio beats instead of orchestral remixes.

I gotta say giving you lives for falling off some of the garbage platforming sequences was pretty infuriating.

I'm still missing a bunch of songs in squid beats. I assume at least 4 of those are Off the Hook Splatfest songs which haven't gone live yet, but any clues for the rest?

you just gotta be more accurate with the vert swing.

I was always a carbon roller guy myself anyway

Splat Bomb and Splashdown. Hope they improved the weapon itself like they did the Octobrush.

The final boss is pretty good. They could have done a bit more mechanics wise but it was a nice way to finish the single player.

They were always awful. You've just played enough now to realize what was always true.

Hahaha. I used to rip it up with a roller! For me it was still pretty situational, but even after the nerf you couls 2H flick before someone turned around and shot you to pieces.

Finally reached level 10. Started out so bad in Ranked, but I'm getting better. Rainmaker is such a fun mode, and I'm glad the Rainmaker itself has received a bit of a buff.

First time playing Splatoon and I had a blast. Got whooped for my first several games but I've been steadily getting much better. The short game times are a perfect match for the Switch a quick game or two before work or while cooking cooking is pretty damn great.

Oh my god, I just beat the
Octo Shower
with
the Brella
, that sucked!

The fight changes a lot if you have a different weapon. there are a lot of boosters that can launch you in the air next to the Octo Shower so you can shoot the octoclings carrying him. Also there's rolonium you can try to launch at him, and rails to grind up to him and shoot the octolings. I never died to him, but it took about 20 minutes because the Brella is a goddamn shotgun. Onto World 5, I don't think there's anything that's going to be harder than that.

Reached the highest you can get in Salmon Run. Love it so much.

This is my first Splatoon title too, and I can certainly see why it is so popular. I love the presentation ( reminded me of JSR) gameplay is top-notch fun, with tons of depth.

Can someone explain to me how Tenta Missles work? I feel like I'm not using it right.
Get as many people as possible in your line of sight (even through walls) then fire. The missiles will travel to their last known location. They aren't so good for splatting unless there is a charger perched up somewhere, but they are good for forcing an enemy to rapidly move locations which you can capitalize on, and they are great at catching enemy players between a rock and a hard place if they are fighting one of your teammates. Just don't use them right in front of someone, that's a good way to get killed. They aren't the best super but I've gotten more kills with them then I ever did with the inkstrike.

Do I need to read these handbooks before I play salmon run or are they just for fun

Honestly, yeah, you probably should. A lot of people get caught off guard and get fucked up by a lot of stuff that comes at you. For instance, I played in a squad who I could tell for a fact had no idea what a Griller was, how to attack it, or what it did, because it literally wiped out everyone except me and I was the target.

EDIT: And for the love of Bubbly Booty, practice turning a grenade. Please.

Reading it while eating a panzy now!

And grenades are my fab things in games. I can handle that part.
