If I had to guess, it's because they want to make sure you at least know the basics of ranked modes before you're randomly matched against Team Japan in League, much like how they want you to be somewhat familiar with the basics before you can enter Ranked. idk
But we played the first one and we already know the rules. We already know how Japan plays since 90% of the time you got matched with them in the first game. They are forcing ya to solo rank mode to B- that's filled with players who don't know what the hell they are doing causing the process to take longer than they should.

OK, fuck the selection of weapons for Salmon Run right now. Holy shit. Octobrush, Roller, Dualies, and Heavy Splatling. 3 close range weapons and 1 long range slow one. Can't tell you how many games I've lost because I've been sandwiched between boss Salmonids too far away to kill and ones up close too tough to kill. And God forbid if you have to fight a SteelHead on level ground without your Heavy Splatling gunner around. Might as well kill yourself right there and save time.

Such a fun game, but man it's annoying that you can't switch weapons whist waiting for a match to start - and with all the weapons/gear you can buy, they really should have loadouts.

The balance of choosing between clothes that look sick and the ones with better abilities/more slots. *sigh* I guess I'll remove this face mask and wear the headphones...

I'm more annoyed by the fact you can't leave lobby's when waiting to find more players.

Sometimes you can just get stuck, where it just doesn't find anyone. You either have to quit out of the game or wait till it eventually gives you an error.

Later on you can reroll abilities, so keep your items you like with 3 stars.

The weapon selection is part of the matchmaking.

I'm not buying that. That's just Nintendo apologists making stuff up. I've seen multiple teams of 4 rollers.

Press the home button and wait about 10 seconds while it's trying to match people. It will kick you out with no disconnect penalty.

Goddamn, what a fucking crazy run of Salmon. The last wave was insane with all those fucking bosses around with a high tide. I don't even know how we did it, we lost 3 people continuously but the last one always managed to revive everyone. Intense.

Once you start getting Super Sea Snails you can add slots to gear, so it is possible to eventually get those sick clothes with 3 slots.

You say that, but more often than not I end up in a team of four inkbrushes.

Which doesn't change what he said. Weapon selection is a PART of matchmaking. Everytime people complained about being on teams with the same weapon or with lower level people, I wonder why they assume those, individually, are the sole factors. It's like some of you think the game randomly decides not to attempt to balance a group just because

I've scrubbed multiple times already, 20k...*grumbles* I have a shirt with Ninja Squid (the best ability!) but it's only 2 star, splatfest can't come soon enough.

Did Nintendo claim this anywhere? Or are people just making it up? I'd love to see a Nintendo source on it.

They sell exclusive gear on the phone app?

I don't know if it's exclusive as in you can never get it in game, but the app does have different items from what's available at this time.

Yes, -we- do, being vets of the first game. But you have to remember this is a lot of people's first Splatoon because nobody owned a WiiU (/exaggeration).

That said, maybe being able to link between your Splatoon 1 and 2 profiles wouldn't have been the worst idea. <.< Turf War was never my strong suit...

I don't want matches against a whole team of aerosprays for example so no thanks.

It was after the first or second Splatoon 1 update- we're assumming it's the same.

Okay, but it's clearly not weighted very heavily and it can make for some additional annoyances when you're stuck on a team like that, which still makes it a valid complaint.

Obviously no matchmaking system is perfect and it's going to always end up prioritizing finding a match over perfect balance, but Splatoon's swing a little too far in the wrong direction.

Salmon Run seems getting harder right now.
Todaybseems a little worse than yesterday for me.

People really need to learn to throw bombs. The fly things keep needing us up on high tide. Nothoing better than being on a team where as soon as one shows up, four bombs go in the missile gates and blow it up.

Well then you're asking for longer wait times to fill rooms. You first have to match groups into rooms, then match them onto teams. If you're finding rooms are "inbalanced" it was probably because there weren't any better people also searching for matches not in a room yet

Im sorry but that's not a good enough excuse. They added so many new specials , maps , abilities and gear that everyone has to learn them. Us vets only real plus is that we know how to play . We still have to earn and upgrade our gear and even unlock our weapons. Hell none of the shit I use for rank is unlocked or in my possession . If we actually had all our stuff from the first game I can see your point. I just don't know of any other game that locks you out from playing with friends just because you played a previous game in the same series .

That is what I'm asking for, yes. There's always a tradeoff, but I'll take a slightly longer wait for better matched teams.
