I love the win/loss poses (especially the loss pose — looks constipated):

So what is the deal with "Raw" vs "Fresh"? Is it some kind of weapon leveling up system? Does it go down? Now that I have a flag on a weapon for "Fresh" can I never use it again out of fear of its rank going back down???

I wish this game had a manual. Too many of the meta mechanics are never really explained and left to trial and error - I'm looking at you, Crusty Sean.

It can go down when you lose. I'm unaware of any effects other than that it's listed on the weapon and you get a chunk of experience when you level it up.

And the game does have a manual of sorts.

Okay good. I thought I was going crazy. I got to B rank earlier today, but I got off to watch game of thrones. I got back on and saw C-, and I got tilted for a second lol.

So I'm a B in splat zones and C- in rainmaker (only played two games of it).

My secret hope is that they patch in soundtrack from Splatoon 1 into this game to increase the number of battle tracks. I miss Splattack...

If players challenge the Aerospray players directly then they aren't too bad. They cover a lot of territory fast though. It's just a matter of shutting them down when it counts.

It's amazing for XP though, I average at least 1200-1300 points a game with it. Not counting the win bonus. Giving that gun the curling bomb launcher is just too much lol

XP isn't based on the score you get. XP is awarded based on the points you see at the end of the match - like the '600pts for 3min' and such. The points you earn from a match goes towards coins.

Never played the first Splatoon and I am looooving this game. Everything about it is just tickling me in the right ways: the fashion! the music! the quick, always involving matches!

But holy cow I am awful at it. Just embarrassingly bad. It's a genuine struggle to stay alive for more than like...20 seconds on a good day. I am 100% the guy everybody here complains about.

Just watched someone keep running into the rainmaker platform while the entire other team was dead. Couldn't figure out that you need to swim up the goal.

Really dislike the way the maps are handled in this game. two maps at a time is dumb, especially when you end up playing one of them more than five times in a row.

Also wish respawn was faster given how short the matches are.

People were complaining that salmon run was only available during certain times but it has only not been available for 1 hour during a 24 hour period and today it has been up for 24 hours.

I wish people playing Salmon Run that get the heavy Splatling understood that they gotta stay back and not go for the golden eggs.

Too many "That's a wrap" sessions because the person using heavy splatling got caught in the middle of the action.

I wish it was 3 maps per 2 hours but it's much better than 2 per 4 hours like the first game. It helps speed up familiarity with stages.

On respawn time, there are abilities that speed up respawn time. Besides, it won't be as penalizing or as rewarding to splat somebody if the respawn time is faster. The objective of splatting somebody after all is to put the other team in a disadvantage in that span of time they are missing players.

Anyone have any cleaning tips for the Switch carrying case? I accidentally dropped it to a dirty floor while I was playing Splatoon 2. Luckily I had the Switch in my hands.

Case is pretty smudged now though. It's one of the Deluxe Travel ones that houses the Switch and some game cartridges.

thats good to know i played day one and the heavy wasnt available but now i know what to do when i play again and get it.

Stopping for today, not bad actually:

I had to force myself to stop, this is too addicting and I haven't even played the campaign or Salmon Run or Ranked yet.

Edit: what's the "Super Fresh" next to the weapon, does it have any effect on it?

"Super Fresh" is a winning streak type of thing for the weapon. When you reach certain figures - like 10.0 - you get an XP bonus at the end of a match.

Holy shit this capture-the-flag mode is the worst thing I've ever played. I'm never going to get a single win in this mode with these fucking idiot teammates who don't know the rules.

Never played original Splatoon so the first Afew days were rough with getting used to motion control but after playing some of the campaign and once it finally "clicks", Holy Shit. Multiplayer has gotten 100x better for me now.

Really enjoying Salmon Run the most, with its randomised weapons. It kind of forces people into roles, which in theory makes it easier to divide up tasks. A great match feels like a well-oiled machine, plus I'm learning all sorts of items in the process.
There's no way to edit the messages after you post them right?

I made this tonight and mis-spelled Sentry:
I prefer it this way. You should pretend it was intentional all along.

I never had so much fun with portable shooter since Killzone: Mercenary. The core gameplay is so damn addictive!

I found the motion control kinda weird at first because I never played Splatoon 1 before and the concept of motion control is fairly new to me (Motion control in BotW is also pretty rad), but after a while I do think it's the best way to play the game. You also need to adjust with the sensitivity a lot until you're comfortable with it.

Salmon Run is also a lot of fun. I do like the idea of weapon rotations so you're forced to adapt and change your tactics each wave. Right now I'm enjoying it more than Turf War lol

So right now, my impression of the game is very positive. i hope it'll stay that way for a long time.

I believe the developers mentioned that in addition to new stages we would also be getting some returning ones as well from the original. The original title started with 3 and ended up with 16 in a span of 8 months. Would be cool if by the end of the 1st year of free DLC we ended up with 24 stages, 16 original stages and 8 returning stages.

My votes for returning stages go to:
Urchin Underpass
Saltspray Rig
Kelp Dome
Camp Triggerfish
Piranha Pit
Mahi Mahi Resort

Id rather not have Arrowana Mall and Blackbelly Skatepark back again.

This game is amazing, amazing, amazing. There's just so much to DO! Salmon Mode is deadass its own fleshed out thing, with bonus rewards to keep you coming back, challenging af difficulty, and unique random elements with the weapons/specials. Campaign is great, lengthy and promotes replayability. Then you have the whole slew of multi-player modes; say what you will about the unlock system, but I love it. Only level 9, now. Looking forward to ranked at level 10, then Squad Battles at Rank B-

The level rotation makes it so that I've only seen a handful of stages. So every time I pick up the game, it feels fresh. The cherry on top is the superb fucking gameplay. What a gaaaaame!!

My only major problem are idiot teammates who stand around doing nothing. Not forever, but just for a few seconds not helping out. Super annoying though.

How the fuck are people making drawings like this? I've seen quite a few. They look like photo -> 8 bit greyscale conversions.

They are, in a sense. People make the "blueprint" out of real images with Photoshop or whatever but you still have to recreate them manually in-game. I'm seeing quotes on Reddit of people spending 3 or 4 hours on one piece. Crazy dedication.

There's a post a few pages back that links to a reddit thread that details how to do it. Some complicated method of having the image printed on the screen.

Gosh I'd forgotten the first Splatoon only started with 3 maps, that's crazy to think of now.

Actually the first Splatoon released with five stages originally:

- Arowana Mall
- Blackbelly Skatepark
- Saltspray Rig
- Urchin Underpass (now a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Battle stage)
- Walleye Warehouse
