The amount

For example,

8 game win streak last night in Turf War. Couldn't match my record in the original game with 9 straight wins, ah well

Also Sheldon takes all the fun out of single player, no I don't want to test this weapon out for you.

The forced weapon trials are cool because they help you master all of the weapons instead of just the basic mechanics of inking and movement like in the first game. Marie's recommendation to dodge-roll backwards during the Octo-Stomp fight was a revelation (albeit something i should've figured out on my own, but that's on me).

That way if you did single player first, you come out having a basic understanding of the roller, splatling, slosher, and charger, all of which might be less intuitive for a new player.

This so much. That first mission that required the charger made me realize how garbage I was with it, despite playing so much of the first game.

Since Salmon Run will give you a bunch of different weapons, knowing how to be decent with each one is pretty much a given once you get to harder levels.

Is there any way for me to shut off going to pearl and marina everytime i boot the game up? its super annoying.
If you never turn the game off, you never need to boot it up.

and, no you can't turn them off. It's way better than Splatoon1 though, when they would force you to watch them every time the stages rotated.

But I don't wannna use the charger weapons :(

Running through story missions to unlock the Hero Roller and getting the scrolls. In the one that talks about
the final boss battle in Splatoon, I completely missed Marina the first time I saw that scroll. That's a nice touch.

So, can someone give me a short summary of the main differences in multi-player from the old game? Just in case I'm doing something wrong.

Man this game sure is Splatoon, for better and for worse. The cracks are really starting to show for me - in the single player,
the final boss was mostly disappointing, and they didn't even bother to try and have a twist to it
, and now I can't even play Salmon Run until tomorrow. Being able to bounce between Salmon and regular play worked really well since they insist on keeping the absolutely awful two-stages-at-a-time thing, but now I'm just bored. I really hope they do some QoL improvements with some of the updates, including hopefully keeping Salmon Run open and doing anything other than the awful stage rotation we have to put up with right now.

Yeah, it feels a little too (and I hate to say it) "Splatoon 1.5"

Man, ranked sometimes sucks. Had a Rainmaker match with some dude in our corner, just blasting the ground like it was Turf War. Wasn't even near the pedestal, just chilling in the corner by himself.

Had two Splatzone matches where people just went for the enemy spawn point, didn't want to protect the zone.

Hopefully people realize the game matches have objectives other than just inking everything, those losses hurt your whole team.

Only thing these forced weapon trials in campaign are doing is making me hate some of them. Like I'm already 98% sure I will never touch a Slosher after I'm done with single player.

That's me with the charger weapons, those levels made me convinced that players who use those weapons just hate themselves lol

Really frustrating the last few games - I have been placing first on my team, and then, one played on my team gets a 0 score, another like 100. Losing so hard. I guess someone just leaves their console on, keeps getting put in matches and walks away?

Annoying as hell to be paired like that.

Game rules tho.

Same thing happened in the original. 0 score is when someone just disconnects or doesn't want to wait in the queue and resets the game. It sucks, especially when you go "How did we lose so bad? Oh, only had three people"

When you have no idea how your team isn't closing out this match.

Okay I feel like I'm missing something with the whole motion controls thing. No matter what I do, it just feels like I don't move at all or it just whips my aim. Am I supposed to be moving the whole controller like you do with the Wiimote, or am I supposed to be tilting it?

Tilt it. Are you using the joy-cons detatched and seperated without the grip? If so, tilt the right one only, as it's the one that moves the camera. I personally use the right control stick to face the general direction while fine tuning my shot using the motion controls. I rarely hit Y.

Edit: saw the controller mention, so I'm assuming pro or grip. I haven't used either (lost my grip), but I assume it would work the same as handheld, just without the screen. Tilt it while testing out a weapon.

tilting and turning, you don't actually move your arms or anything

From what I can tell from my time with it, you'll only use motion for subtle aim in the horizontal direction, but you'll use it to do most of the heavy lifting on the vertical axis.

So more up and down and not so much side to side.

*I kind of wish the vertical worked the same as the horizontal personally, but you definitely get used to it either way.

Tilt it. Use it for vertical aiming and small horizontal motions, for large horizontal motions use the right stick to turn faster. It takes a while to learn how to use the right stick and tilting together effectively.

Kinda feel like Top 3 players or something should get a bonus even if they don't win or maybe like a bonus for being at the top of your team. Had a Turf War match the other day where a person on the opposing team got ~1393p which was more than what anyone had on my team and almost double the rest of their team, but they still lost.

also, I think Curling Bomb is my favorite sub weapon and I think I'm using it more than my main in turf war lol. You can follow the ink trail it makes then toss out another one before the first one explodes. Lets you be very mobile while inking turf. Currently using it with 2 pieces with Ink Saver Sub and 1 piece with Ink Recovery.

Holy crap is Rainmaker infuriating. Half the matches I've been in so far would be over in seconds if my teammates actually knew what the fuck to do, but instead they just grab the Rainmaker and sit in the middle of the map. I've literally had a match on Humpback where I spammed "THIS WAY!!!!" over and over and the guy still just sat there until he got killed, at which point I took it back and leisurely swam to the goal.

Maybe in TW but in ranked since apparently your placement is determined by win%, position is pretty meaningless.

Wow, I love the Stingray. I really do.

I hated it in the splatests, but since you can move with it now and stop firing to re-aim it's amazing. Just had a rainmaker game where I had 14 kills as a charger with at least 8 of those with the stingray.

Oh boy, this is a completely different experience with a pro controller.

I mostly play in handheld mode with attached joycons and never had a problem. So I played Splatoon 2 also in handheld mode with attached joycons. And I lost. And lost. And lost. As I mentioned before I was very disappointed and didn't like the game.
But I decided to give it another go playing with the pro controller. Before pro controller: lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, won, lost, lost. After pro controller: won, lost, won, won, won, won. Tomorrow I'll play some more... it's starting to get fun.

After looking at reddit i finally know how to get the amiibo clothes jesus christ.

Be level 10 and save your outfit to the amiibo and then it will give you all the clothes+song at once.

Would be nice if the game actually said that.

I was level 9 when I unlocked all the stuff 🤔. And they do tell you after they give you the headpiece that you get the rest of the set when you are a higher level.

Why are you super jumping from spawn to in front of the rainmaker platform

it literally takes more time than walking and you put yourself in a vulnerable position for no reason

what are you doing

you were on the opposing side and I ranked up off of that battle but seriously why

Nah it just says battle more, doesnt specifically say get to a certain level and save your outfit.

I just kept scanning everytime i leveled up without saving an outfit.

Ah yeah, that's true. I just saved the outfit at the start of the game and again when I was level 9 and I unlocked everything.

There was a game I was in where the opposite team got the rainmaker at the start and literally just ran to our goal. I died once, but when I looked at it on the app all my teammates died like 3 or 4 times. Didn't understand how that was possible in such a short amount of time, but super jumping makes sense.

Yeah the new dialoge is amazing lol. Even better than in the original fight imo.

Why would people run back towards the opposite platform with the Rainmaker? Suppose it is the same reason people will super jump to the middle when the opposing team has the Rainmaker.

Swear sometimes it feels like I have people in my team that want to lose. I don't really like taking the Rainmaker, but I've been in too many matches where my teammates are lost/confused/new and just sit back trying to get kills. What are you doing?

I totally get falling back a little to let your teammates take out enemies, but taking it past the halfway point is fucking stupid. It makes it easier for the opposing team to win when you die.
