When I fill up my ink tank, what is the line that appears in my tank? The game makes a noise when the tank refills past that point.

Thanks!

The Goo Tuber is pretty sweet, but definitely an advanced weapon. It has seemingly equal charge time to the splat charger but considerably less range. The main attraction is the submerged hold time; it's pretty glorious but I've only been able to use it situationally. Suction bomb is very nice for chargers, but overall this kit seems much more suited for ranked than turf war. My quest for green flags has hit a stumbling block.

Being new to Splatoon with this incarnation i'm pretty noob...

Can anyone enlighten me as to why there is only one game mode for "casual"? I hear people talking about all of these other modes but i'm still sub lvl 10 and playing a little at a time when i can. Is there any talk about rolling new modes into "normal online play"?

How do you roll while using Dualies again?

You have to be shooting first, then press jump.

If you ever teleport to bad spot make sure you roll right away when you land, you can usually evade the enemy who is siting waiting for you. You can roll twice back to back to get some distance.

Generally the other game modes require more awareness and coordination from a team that really can't be expected of newer players. This doesn't excuse them for not coming up with one or two more modes for unranked play, but that's the basic gist of it for now.

I guess they didn't want to overwhelm people? I honestly don't know why there isn't something else in addition to Turf War in regular unranked play.

Man, playing Ranked is painful. I feel like my teammates are always damn near useless. It's rainmaker and they're off painting the base while I have the thing. Or all of them are standing around while the enemy team is clearly just about to explode the Rainmaker and they'll die. Or they all die and then run out and die again instantly.

I literally was just in a game where I had the thing and everyone swam off in front of me when there were enemy dudes right there. I just don't fucking know.

Makes sense to me but non of Splatoon is super demanding... as far as competitive shooters go i'd say its average. I totally get your point though.

Did Splatoon 1 have any other modes in un-ranked?

Nope, Turf War all day every day. At least in 2 you have Salmon Run (whenever it's available). I hope they add another ranked mode eventually

Not that I can remember. It was Turf War for unranked and everything else for ranked.

I just killed three guys in possession of the rainmaker right at our base, and died in the process.

All of my team was alive.

Somehow, they were all up ahead. So the fourth enemy managed to walk in and place it on top before they could get back or I could respawn.

Like seriously this is painful.

Edit: Thank fuck for Splat Zones. This is more manageable to solo if necessary.

Getting my delayed salary tomorrow. Thinking about picking this up, but missing release hype sucks.

Anyone who like me didn't play much on Wii U, but is really more of a portable player? I kinda enjoyed the first Splatfire too. Used rollers and had fun, still tinkered with motion and stick sensitivity.

Don't worry about it - the release hype train is still running full steam.

I don't think this is true. Splatoon requires a much greater level of abstract spacial processing compared to the average shooter, because of how territory control interplays with movement speed. It's less demanding of pin-point accuracy and the like, but having a good team is much more important than the industry standard.

Well, not sure if what happened to me is better or worse...

I got killed by a sniper, and while I wait for respawn, a teammate take the rainmaker close to midmap, move BACK in front of the opponents attack, die mere meters from the goal alongside the two others, and now I'm alone with a roller against a team of 4 :/

...sooooo why does nobody...

... Get. On. The Tower?

Well the tower can move without anybody on it. Sometimes I hop on to get it moving and hop off to fight the enemy. I usually play dualies so can hop up and roll away as soon as I take the tower really quickly. I have a much better time staying alive and getting kills if I am buzzing around the tower rather than sitting in one place.

Heh.

Technically, I think that you only want one person on the tower most of the time. With more than one person, you risk the whole team getting splatted by a well placed bomb.

The other players should be either hanging out close to the tower and guarding it, or clearing a path forward (or possibly laying down some paths on the flanks, especially if the opponent has set up a good set of routes for flanking themselves).

I'm not the greatest Splatoon player, but I've had fairly good luck volunteering to be the one to risk my neck by climbing on the tower (volunteering is simple: you just hop on the tower, hopefully while some of your teammates are running interference). You get lots of practice dropping onto the side to avoid bombs that way :-)

(If someone else volunteers, don't hop on with them -- just hang out close by, or a little ahead, and lay down some ink and get in some splats.)

The matchmaking in this game is something else. The game starts and it's straight up 3 v 4. How the hell does this happen? Why didn't the matchmaking wait to find another player? Then another team member decides to DC to top it all off. Spectacular. At the same time, the enemy is composed of a bunch of tryhards who camp our spawn. Perfect.

Right, but I mean in moments where like 3 of the other team are dead, shouldn't at least one other person hop on to speed things up?

Holy shit it is fucking frustrating how many fucking inbred morons there are who don't understand the point of rainmaker why are you fucking painting our base you idiot.

Are you me?! I had one genius painting the enemy base when they were running the rainmaker into our base. These people should not be playing ranked mode and just play turf until they know how to move/shoot and/or are capable of learning. Like wtf are they doing in ranked??

What does the thing next to the weapon and the grey flag mean my splosher was 1.5 "dry" now it's 5.5 "raw"
It's a kind of win/loss meter...

Win and it'll increase, loose and it'll decrease. The higher you get, the slower you climb but the faster you drop.

You'll get additional points for each level passed. There used to be 3 levels, bot sure if you can go over 15 now, I haven't played turf wars much.

I swear this game intentionally matches me against godlike chargers whenever I'm playing Aerospray (and with teammates who will never attempt to flank them in any way of course).

Same. Playing on Inkblot yesterday with the Aerospray was a nightmare when there was a good charger on that central high point.

Didn't help that two other people on my team also had Aerosprays though.

I think the meter still climbs the same (you get one point every win), but you lose more as you rank up. Half a point for Dry, a full point for Raw, a 1.5 points for Fresh.

I was at 14 points and then got into disconnect hell and dropped back to Raw, I was so mad lol

I'm almost sure you're right, but I didn't remember if the .5 / 1 / 1.5 was for up or down (my bet would have been down).

Really? That's harsh...

Finally made it to B- in Splatzone... and this time I put in the work for it as I was one inch away and had already three cracks and a loss lol.

Wait, is this on the app? When glancing at screenshots like these I thought people were posting beta screenshots since it had the deaths on there. That's neat.
