As far as I know the number can just keep increasing, but superfresh is the highest actual rating. Once you've hit superfresh on a weapon you won't gain any further freshness rewards on it (even dropping down and rising back up again) but you can still earn those big xp bonusses by pumping up your freshness on other weapons, seeing as each has it's own unique rating :3

Oh I see! Guess it's time to start learning some different weapons than.
That's actually a nice incentive. :)

Thanks!

Read on /r/splatoon that someone called Nintendo's customer support, and they said it was an unexpected server outage.

This makes more sense than the maintenance explanation. In the original Splatoon, you would go to the Lobby and it would explicitly tell you "The server is undergoing maintenance." And usually it was announced in advance and then last, like, an hour.

With Mario Kart 8 supposedly being down as well, something is up at with Nintendo's online services. SplatNet is offline too.

I hit level 10 today. Which means Ranked Battles just unlocked. Do you level up faster in those?

Anyway, just to avoid being that squid/kid, what are the dos and especially don'ts of each mode? Weapons to bring, strategies to use.

I imagine the Aerospray is fair enough for Splat Zones, but for Tower Control and Rainmaker, I don't know. I'd think Rainmaker would mean a weapon made to splat enemies, and Tower Control means something with decent range?

Grab the fucking rainmaker and move it forward.

Got on the god damn tower so it moves forward.

Splat and don't get splatted. That's the most important rule in any ranked mode.

Tower Control is Payload?

Might be a good time for the Splatling gun... I remember good times as Heavy Weapons Guy and a Payload cart. My arsenal is kind of limited as is, but I could get that. Seemed a bit unwieldy for Turf War, but maybe not for this.

Anyone notice the sound it makes when you move the left joystick during waiting for matchmaking...matchmaking is taking forever right now.

In tower control, try a blaster. They can be fairly effective.

In rainmaker, if no one on your team is grabbing the rainmaker, grab the rainmaker. If people are grabbing the rainmaker, protect them.

Edit: Also, in general, if you're not sure what you need to be doing in a given moment (and assuming the coast is clear) it's always good to hide motionless in the ink and check your map, or simply scan your surroundings. Unless you're tagged with a point sensor, you should be completely invisible to your opponents. Doing this will allow you to detect flanking attempts/opportunities and will sometimes nab you easy kills from people carelessly rushing to get to mid. While hidden in your ink, you can actually move without creating a visible wake by tapping the analog stick rapidly. Use this to sneak up on unwary squids or to juke enemies who have somehow detected you.

Above all, have fun. Ranked Splatoon can be a very frustrating game at times, but if you keep striving to improve and don't allow yourself to fall into patterns it can be an extremely rewarding one. Good luck!

Wait what?

They've been silent on the maintenance other than that it's happening. We dunno. Is the glitch server side or client side? If unknown, could someone describe the exploit to me?

If you go into story mode, go to 2-6 in the hub world and get the EXP ticket on the ledge then exit and repeat you keep the ticket despite already having it.

I got 85 tickets so im not sure if theyll take them away from me or not.

No worries, I've been mixing it up trying a bunch of weapons so my ratings are all over the place XD

ultimately you just need to find what works for you.

For tower, blasters are handy because the explosion allows you to smack people hiding behind the pillar, but my go to is the tri-slosher as the ink armour has saved my rear a good few times and the arcing shot of the bucket itself allows me to pour death onto the tower from above or below :3

I don't know what is best for rainmaker, but I rock an octobrush. While not inkbrush-speed it's still one of the fastest movement weapons in the game and it hits pretty hard in a wide arc allowing me to kill whole teams if they cluster together too much, but I have to avoid direct conflict, instead coming in from the flanks or rear. It allows me make a path to the rainmaker for my team though and manouver around the field quickly to catch up with the enemy when they have it or are blocking an advance.

I use mini-splatling for zones because it's a nice mix of range, ink output and unadulterated death but again, whatever works for you is fine :P

Just checked...food ticket exploit is gone. Womp womp. Squiddos gonna be salty.
Nuuuu... at least they haven't taken my tickets away from me. Still got 40 cash and 26xp left, though I'm level 27 now anyhoo so I won't need the xp ones much longer hopefully :P

Yeah. Long range is good, some maps are more close quartered than others so its not as effective. I like to stick to weapons that can leave a bomb on the tower, poison the well so to speak even if you have to get off.

Splat Zones: DON'T STAND IN THE ZONE, GENIUS. IN FACT, DON'T STAND STILL AT ALL

Tower Control: GET ON THE DAMN TOWER. IF THEY HAVE IT, THROW A DAMN SUCTION BOMB ON FIRST

Rainmaker: SPLAT THE ENEMY BEFORE BREAKING THE BLOODY SHIELD. AND PROTECT THE SQUID HOLDING THE GODDAMN RAINMAKER
