Haven't gotten the game yet but I have a couple questions about Tower Control:

1) Does the platform only move on your team if the ground around its path is covered in ink? I.E if i'm in a green ink team and obtain the tower, if purple ink is on its path will it be blocked?

2) What does the 'remaining' mean?

You have to jump on top of the platform and paint it your color then it will start moving. You don't have to be on it for it to keep going (unless it's a checkpoint) but more people on it makes it move faster.

Remaining # is the farthest distance you have pushed the tower to the end goal. Basically whoever has the lower number wins, when it reaches 0 it is at the end and the team wins.

I'm very sure that it does but the next level is somewhere beyond 20 as I have seen someone reference getting 22. My best is 17-18 something with the Splattershot JR. . I should really go back to it since I just barely made fresh with the N-zap 85. I really want to know when it is, it's kind of frustrating me that Splatoon 2 isn't being ripped apart and analysed at the same speed as Pokemon games do.

Can somone give a quick rundown of what the deal with overtime in ranked is?
Overtime occurs in ranked when you are losing but you have control of the objective when time runs out. You then have one shot to get the lead before either the enemy takes control of the objective, or you lose control of it for more than a certain period of time (ranging from instant in rainmaker, to a couple of seconds of grace in zones that you get to retake control if it's neutral). If either of these happen the match ends instantly and you lose, but if you take the lead the match ends instantly and you win.

Note, in rainmaker overtime can be triggered if your are losing even if you don't have control of the rainmaker if the enemy has the rm and they lose control of it within a couple seconds of the end of the match, in that case you have a couple of seconds in which to acquire the rainmaker, or else overtime ends and they win.

Well, this happened. :D

I have no idea what to do with it so I just leave it there for someone of my team to grab and try to help making a path or splatting rivals

If there's a way to go forward without opposition, go forward. Try to find some detour that is clear. If not, wait for the teammates to clear the path while shooting some long range shots with the rainmaker. Never go too much back, it's better to lose the rainmaker than give the other team a lot of free gain.

Every map has some nice shortcuts/detours that can be exploited. Those can be used quite nicely when you have the rainmaker.

I don't normally mind playing with people who don't know what they're doing, but Rainmaker on the current level rotation is soooo painful.

The tower level you literally need to know the shortcuts to win.

Thank you very much!

The Nzap 85 is really stressing my nerves... Is it considered too strong? I feel like it kills me with two hits and the fire rate is a bit high for that.

Focus on getting three matching sub abilities. The sub abilities don't have to match the main ability but its nice if you want to stack a lot of the same ability anyway.

The abilities you listed will be good for octobrush but you'll definitely want swim speed if you're gonna use ninja squid. Brushes live and die by their swim speed.

And maybe some of that thing where i can walk better in enemy ink? need to get some headgear with swimspeed then. Thanks btw!

It's 50 as far as I'm aware.

Weapons seem to stop at 30 though.

I mean what does leveling up after 30 even do then?

Even spamming the 'This Way' d pad command doesn't teach people where to go :( I just don't get why people who are not sure what to do are so keen to grab the rainmaker and wander aimlessly...

Try and win a game with these 3 brilliant minds on your side.

Spoiler: You won't.

Sheesh people, this isn't rocket science! :-/

I was just thinking it'd be cool to mark the inkopolis pics with a "like", then I noticed there is actually a button for it lol. Where do those likes show up for your own pic?

edit oh god i just found the band and watched them for a while, those animations are great <3

I hope there's merch for this game.

I really want a zap fish plush. They're so cute! Your inkling always hugs them at the end of a level, and I want to that too >.<

Stage 25 in Octo Valley sent me up the wall. Glad I got all the collectibles so I'll never have to do that trash again.

Couldn't get used to motion controls before but after trying them with split joycons they're beginning to click with me. Doing way better at rainmaker now.

Wait a sec... when you guys play full motion controls your right thumb is on the Y button? And you keep adjusting the camera? That's insane

What? No!

I only press Y once in a while if I adjust how I'm sitting on the sofa or at the start of a game if I put the controller down to drink of something.

How do you control the left and right movements? Because I do it with the stick

I do big adjustments with the stick. Swipe left/right or up/down with motion. I use a combination of analog and motion. Usually using motion when in combat to track the player until I need to go back to the stick.

A combination of the two.

Especially when running around.
But when encountering enemies I find it's best to flick the controller to them with a twist and then make adjustments as needed also with motions.

Havent been able to play today at all. Keeps kicking me out even though I'm sitting next to the router with average speeds of 21mbps and 8mbps. So infuriating, my rank level has dropped to C-

Strange i am playin on like 5-6 mbps fine.
And the router is between solid walls of concrete. I did however get a wifi repeater a few years ago cuz the concrete blocked the wifi alot never had huge problems since.

Did you try turning off the Switch entirely (holding power button and turn off or restart)? I heard that sometimes fixes wifi problems for people.

I am not enjoying the single player nearly as much as the first game.

It's not terrible but it definitely isn't making the impression the first game did. Maybe the surprise of a single-player platforming campaign in my 3rd person shooter weighed heavily on how I felt about Splatoon's campaign.

I really like the music though, especially during boss battles.

Compete (kotaku) checks in with pro Splatoon players: article link

Intersting read. Talking how changes from S1 affect the pace and maybe Tri-Slosher is the top weapon now - shares a graphic of league matches.

Mentions motion controls, maybe this will help newcomers:

All players had advice for newcomers looking to grow in Splatoon, and top of the list was motion controls. Every player agreed that using the motion controls was best, and that every top player uses it.

No. The tower does not move unless someone from your team is on it. It also does not have to be painted in your color.

Is there a way to tell through the app if Salmon Run is open? I feel like it's there but I'm totally missing it.
No. It's stupid.
It's on the main page. Scroll down. You can't see the future schedule but you can see if it's open.
