played a few Turf War matches just now and had a lot better time than I did last night (actually winning matches helps...lol)
I even had one match where I was the top of the board for the team (that will be a very rare occasion)
overall record is still pretty bad though...17-23...but I'm having fun

I like the ink brush better than the octobrush personally. Faster and marginally less spread on the ink.
Give it to me straight - is there any chance they are going to adjust the ridiculous restrictions on playing with friends online with this game? The fact that I cannot play on the same team as a friend in anything other than Regular Battle / Turf War (not guaranteed even) is infuriating.
And before anybody says anything, League Battle requires a significant investment of time for myself and friends to even be eligible, and it'd likely be too intense even if I was good enough.
Was it also this way in Splatoon 1?

League was just squads back in 1 (no leaderboards) and had the same barrier as ranked. Everything else was same.
It's so tough switching to motion controls after having played the first one stick only, and playing S2 for a week the same way. Should've stuck with gyro after the tutorial.
I was able to see the benefits of using gyro during weapon test mode (after watching a Youtube comparison video), but translating that into a real Turf War match is an entirely different story. I feel like I suddenly can't "snap" on to enemies. Oh well, hopefully I'll get used to it.

They really need to revert back to that. Just let us shit players play together - let there be D and F ranks. I might actually have fun with friends that way - since the only other option is Salmon Run which hasn't agreed with my schedule since last Sunday.

My "snap" ain't shit either but at least it's possible to develop that skill. You can't do it with sticks.
So I feel like it's worth sticking with. I was pretty bad at Halo back in 2001 after years of Counter-Strike on PC. We'll get the muscle memory eventually.

Starting to find my groove with the Splattershot Pro. It's got the range I liked out of the Splatling without the charge up time and a way better load out. Ink Cloud is especially nice to just force people out of entrenched positions and win team fights.
It's not great on ink efficiency, but that's what I have 2x Ink Saver main abilities are for.

Awwww man, this comp is going to drive people crazy. Kinda looking forward to playing some Splatling, though. It could be kinda good for mowing down Chums and popping that green bulb thing.
(Blaster still sucks in this mode, though.)

Ranked is becoming frustrating. There always seems to be one person with a roller, inking the base and completely ignoring the Tower for the entire match. There needs to be some kind of tutorial for each ranked mode that you need to complete before you can enter matchmaking.

The only other shooter PVP I've done is Destiny which was all tryhards. Come to think of it so was Souls PVP.
So I'm asking can I play this without dedicating all my free time to "gitting gud?"

What's going on with the Switch losing its connection during a match? Is it because of Splatoon or a hardware issue?
My daughter said she got booted in the middle of a match and when I went to play a round to make sure everything was ok I read a warning basically saying she'll get temp banned.
I know it's not my daughter doing something stupid because she's better then me at playing Splatoon and I'm damn good at the game.

My Internet connection was down for more than 24h. Didn't wanted to use too much of my cell data, so no Splatoon 2. When my connection came back up a couple of hours ago, I went on an absolute rampage in Tower Control. In the process, went from B to B+. My best run so far in Ranked. To the opposite teams: don't blame me, blame my ISP:
It makes it a lot easier to understand what people are talking about if everyone uses the actual name of the weapon instead of just the class. Unless of course you are talking about the weapon class.

Roller = Splat/Krakon
Dynamo = Dynamo
Etc...
We had the same issue in splatoon at the beginning with everyone using the weapon class name (saying rollers are op when they're just talking about Dynamo etc) and it takes at least two or three posts before everyone's on the same page.

I can't play in handheld mode because of this, it doesn't take long either before I want to throw up. In tv mode or desktop mode I am fine, it's very strange.

I've pretty much only been playing slosher, and I can see the trislosher being a pain to fight. About 1 squid length less range, 2 shots to kill, same/similar speed to the base slosher, and wider range. Oh yeah, it gets more shots than the normal slosher too. Beyond the different specials, the trislosher is straight up better than the normal slosher. I went back to the normal slosher just because using the tri is more likely to ruin the aim I recently developed with it because it is so forgiving.
By the way, what skills do people recommend for sloshers? Right now I'm running:
Hat: Ink Res -- Ink saver sub -- Special Charge Up -- Bomb boost
Shirt: Ink Saver Main -- Ink saver main -- Ink saver sub -- Ink saver main
Boots: Quick Respawn -- Ink saver main -- Ink resist -- Swim speed
I think the shirt is pretty solid for just about everything, but the boots and hat could be better.

Christ I feel like I'm actually getting worse with motion controls the more I play. Just went on a 10 game losing streak and I know every game we lost because I can't hit shit and spend more time dead than in the match.
