Let's fire up the translation machine...

Tomorrow July 29th at 11am, a new weapon, the "Dual Sweeper" will be added. The previous iteration was a shooter-type weapon, but it's been reborn this time around as a Dualie. It retains its range and rapid-fire capabilities, but now you can dodge-roll too!

Sub is point sensor, special is tentamissiles.

Sounds dope to me.

Dear god.

jesus the rapid fire and range boost you get after a dodge roll with duals squelchers is going to be INTENSE

Yeah that got me hype just reading it. I've missed this feeling of brand new weapons getting released and everyone discovering the ins and outs of it together :)

Nintendo really have to sort out the issues with Joy-con disconnection. 10 seconds away from an amazing win, connection fucking cuts out. Why didn't they foresee that joy-cons could be blocked by something like this? SO PISSED OFF

Wait, what? I ranked up in Splat Zones and went from C- directly to B-. How does this work?

You have a hidden "power" as well as rank (kind of like MMR). If your power is very high you can skip a few ranks while levelling up as it makes an educated assumption that you're probably skilled enough to be higher than the next rank up.

The most you can jump up by is one full letter (so C- to B-, B to A, etc).

Man, those Aerosprays just dominating turf war. Like everyone and their grandma uses them. Last night when i got into matches, i found the majority of people were using them.

Not complaining. Im just surprised. The gun is good for fast coverage for sure. But it would cool to see people using a wider variety of weapons in matches. For the record, i too was guilty using the Aero. But i think after last night im gonna switch it up. Spice things up a bit!

Dual Squelcher is reborn...into Dualie Squelchers!

New weapons already? lol I'm still trying out all these new weapons every level

Well...I beat World 2 of the campaign. Idk I don't really like the roller.

When I got to level 6 and tried it I said holy crap this thing is good for Turf War. I've been using it, but I don't really see anyone else using it.

I was in a game last night against a team of Aerosprays. Two of us with Tri-sloshers and an octobrush and somehow we wiped the floor with the other team (and they did not have any disconnects). It was kind of amazing. I got over 2k that match with a bucket weapon. Awesome feeling.

Wish i took some screens. It was intense. Like every match i got into, 6-7 of the 8 people were using them.

Curling bombs. Curling bombs everywhere.......

I was contemplating becoming a 'Bucket Bro'. Looks like you can cover a lot of ground with them. And are deadly at close range.

Funny discussion here, I only started using this weapon today and love it so far. A bit tricky to get kills cause you really have to hold the position on the opponent but its such a fast paint spray and the curling bombs are just the best.

I started using the Aerospray in Turf Wars too. It's pretty relaxing, just covering stuff with ink. Combat isn't that great but good thing that isn't the objective.

Was only using it to get the XP bonus, and since I got it to Fresh, I'll probably switch now.

Those new Dualies look fun.

Also, does anyone know if AT&T allows multiplayer through tether? I've read that in a few places that NAT type isn't open or something. Really considering buying tethering plan just to play mobile.

edit; nvm. found a thread on it. gg AT&T, gonna switch carriers now.

Since I switched to the Aerospray I'm almost always above 2000 pts when winning, which is most of the time since then in turf wars regular battle. May be a little OP for inking the map. I get my special incredibly fast.

I just got to Level 10. This is my first Splatoon game, so I don't want to start Ranked right away. Is there anyway to practice the different maps/modes to understand what they are prior to jumping into Ranked? I played one match, "Tower Control" and at first had no clue what I was doing and don't want to be a handicap to my team again.

This is so dope. Sooooo excited to try this out. Dualies with range.

Love that they gave it something new to differentiate it from the Pro.
(More Point Sensors, though?) :(

You can hit - to see the rules of the current ranked modes but there's no playable tutorial.

I wouldn't be too worried about jumping into ranked early by the way. You'll find plenty of other people in the low 10s just getting started as well. It's easy to learn the rules of each:

Tower Control - Stand on the Tower and it'll move toward the enemy base, if nobody's on it it moves slowly back toward the middle of the map. Get the tower further than the other team or to the goal to win.

Splat Zone - King of the Hill variant. Ink the zone 80% your colour and your team will control the zone and it'll turn fully your team's colour. As long as the zone is >50% your team's colour your team's timer will tick down. First team to hit zero wins

Rainmaker - There's a really big gun in the middle of the map. Shoot the shield in order to get rid of the shield, then pick up the really big gun and carry it to the enemy base to win. If no team gets all the way, the team that goes furthest wins.

There are some little details you'll pick up as you go, Tower Control has checkpoints for example. Splat Zone has penalty timers for losing control of the zone to the other team which have to be ticked down before the main timer ticks down again. Carrying the rainmaker makes you move slower.

they adjusted rank in Ranked Battle about 2 hours ago now. you can boost based on the hidden elo called Ranked Power.

Thanks. That's peculiar. Not complaining, though!

What's everyone's favorite special? I like the Splashdown and the 20 Curling bombs from the Aerospray lol

It's boring, but I really like the Ink Armor special. At the best of times it really works as a "ok team, time to get aggressive" maneuver that can turn the tide of battle.

You can press Y to "recon" the maps, that's about it.

I would just hop in, that's what I did and I've never touched Splatoon before this game. I somehow got placed in B- for my ranking after a couple of battles.

But the objectives are simple. Honestly, you can just help your team by playing defense on either modes.

Splat Zones: Basically Turf War but in a confined space. You have to control the designated area for 100 seconds to win.

Tower Control: It's a form of capture the flag. You have to ride the tower into the other teams base on a set path.

Rainmaker: Same as Tower Control but instead of a block, there's a weapon. You take that into the team's base as well but you can use it.

There's really no way to practice. I'd just play and observe with other players are doing while you play defense and protect the objectives. Or just watch some videos, that'll hep.

Not to rain on your parade, but since you like knowing things, you won a 4v3. The person on the other team had 0p, which means it was a disconnect. Just as a heads up.

Is it really first if you get 1000 extra points? Top player was actually on the other team.
Seriously. What is wrong with you people?

I was playing like shit prior to knowing about walls. I learned about walls not counting and was 1st (on my team) and I finally won a match. I was thanking the person who shared the top about the walls as it made me play better by showing them this was my first match after that. And these are the types of replies I get?

Enjoy your precious little game.

Yeah. One of the reason I recently bought a pro controller was to avoid this mess.

Have you guys bought anything off of SplatNet? I'm looking at it and I see a hat for like 17K! I don't understand why, but it shows the ability plus three more question marks, so I'm assuming that hat will learn three more abilities on its own with experience points. Some of the other items on there only show one ability or one question mark.

Just thought you were trying to get a better grasp at understanding the game, so decided to share that information. Wasn't trying to be malicious about it. If all you're looking for is praise, maybe posting that picture on an Internet forum isn't the best bet.

Anyways, what's the highest the freshness meter goes in Turf War? I'm basically hovering around 16 with the Aerospray.

That's the number of abilities that can be unlocked by gaining XP in multiplayer matches. 1 question mark or 1 star is low level, 3 question marks or 3 stars is the most you can get. They get more expensive the higher they are in rank (1-3). Buy 3 star stuff if you can afford it.

Those replies seem innocent enough, not sure what your deal is.

So by reading this thread I understood that 3 side abilities equals 1 big ability, right? But does it make sense that i have 2 of the same big ability activated? Does that stack?

First reply is wrong anyway, it was 3v3.

Skipping ranks was already in the game.
