The second scroll in the game has a picture of the final battle of Splatoon's Hero Mode, where you see DJ Octavio and Agent 3 fighting it out. You can clearly see Agent 3 with long hair, so that playable character is a she. :>

Also, a younger Marina can be seen in the audience, so you know the reason why she wanted to become a DJ.

I wish the story mode would tell us how marina came out and live in the surface or why some octolings are good guys.

About to start the offline story mode thing. I never played Splatoon 1 so do I need to know anything or does the game help me out by bringing me up to speed?

The Great Zapfish has been captured again. Go take care of that.

(That's about as deep as the campaign gets in Splatoon.)

I just had a string of bad losses. I need to walk away for a couple of hours.

It's pretty much the same story as the first game except your taking orders from Marie of the defunct Squid Sisters instead of Captain Cuttlefish, who is the Squid Sisters' grandpa.

Someone else does have problems with the color gradient while looking at the map? If there are places which are higher or lower the ink will be a lighter or darker shade on the map.
I can perfectly distinguish between the ally's and opponent's colors. It's just when I open the map I don't see two different colors but a color gradient of both (on certain maps),
where it's like I'm seeing four different colors plus the uninked parts of the map. I am colorblind (green-red),
but I would assume even people without colorblindness could be bothered by that.

i know that, what i asked is how i select them on the map to super jump on them.... and apparently you can only do that with the gyro... which is pretty dumb
How exactly would you prefer they do it otherwise? The d-pad directions are already taken up, beakons can go basically anywhere on the map, and you could have as many as 12 on the map to pick from. Aiming using the cursor is the quickest and easiest way to cover all of that, elsewise you'd have to use buttons to cycle back and forth between targets? That would be way slower and less convenient.

we're taking the eggs of salmon creatures for fun and profit

we're definitely the baddies

No, we're taking eggs for the future of Inkopolis! Mr. Grizz wouldn't lie to us!

No, really. Inkopolis is nothing without Zapfish, and I'm running low on ideas as to where they come from.

It's a city where problems like zapfish slavery and recruitment of child soldiers are normalized thanks to propaganda and consumerism.

As well as monthly segregations by the way of splatfests!

Out of curiosity, what is the average win rate for you guys?

I noticed in Turf War my average is usually 26/24. I got to 30/20 once, but then a lose streak happens. I will admit that some of my loses happened because I really did suck that game (for example I have a bad habit of getting killed by bombs, people with buckets, being overly aggression and not using the environment), but most of the time it happens because my team really did suck like Aeros, Jrs, and other rapid fire guns getting less than 500 points or only in the low 500s where those type of guns should easily be around 700-800. Or snipers who are so bad that you might as well have an empty slot.

I also noticed that despite being in the 20s level-wise, I keep getting level 7s and 5s. True, this isn't always a indication of skill, but it seems the matchmaking should be able to do a better job of grouping people by skill-level like most competitive games.

52 gal's low range is infuuuuuuuriating

The Gal has great range for the type of gun it is. It is only beating my snipers and Squelchers. I think you may mean firing rate, which isn't bad, but you will being inking maybe 500-700 points on average.

But remember him and the grandpa were good friends back in the day, and I want to see how his humanoid version looks too. I thought they would rekindle there friendship

That's true i guess spoilers ahead for splatoon 1 sunken scrolls:
the sea level rising some more again
really fucked some things up Squid and Octarian/Octoling relationship wise cuz of
less land to live on

Would be cool tho if they make up their difference in a future title and see his human form. And make a new badguy where you team up.

And i doubt captain cuddlefish fucked him and his race over or something like that after that situation on purpose.

Yea I keep saying the salmon will bring them together. Remember that one scroll about a
coming end of times.

Wait I haven't played the first Splatoon but is the implication that
there's an audience watching you murder a DJ

Just had a great match with the charger at Moray Towers, after a weak match I managed to combo 6 kills, every time I shot I killed someone. I was able to turn around the match and completely stop the enemy team on their side of the map. I was on fire at the end, nailing every shot :) Ended with 7 kills (I really sucked until the last minute) and with the help of another teammate who got 12 kills we managed to turn around the match even though the other 2 guys in our team played very poorly. Still, Moray Towers is no longer an easy map for chargers, you can't reach the other side and enemies have now a lot of options to assault you. Good changes, makes camping a useless strategy.

Why are they good or bad in the first place?

I mean, really

dKeCx1Q.gif

Inklings and Octarians used to coexist until the rising sea levels forced a sort of power struggle. If an Octoling like Marina can coexist in Inkling society, presumably Octavio is just a power-hungry ruler - especially since he brainwashes Inklings and primitive Octarians.

please, it's
'remixes'

really loving the rapid blaster atm. i'm so much better with it than the OG blaster, plus the bomb rush is really useful

It honestly doesn't really look like there is any audience in the first final boss.
This marina thing seems like a retcon honestly. Where you fight octavio looks like a very dark and empty void like area

I'm a big fan of the new Bubble thing. I don't think people realize you can stop it easily.
Oh I meant the bubble from splatoon 1, but the hamster ball is a very interesting one. Its easy to stop, but that's why you need to use it very strategically. It can be very good for making a path in rainmaker. Also good for splatzones if you can ambush a sneak attack.

lol not 5 pages ago there was a huge argument that it was OP

No chance is it overpowered. It only slightly increases the amount of shots it takes to die.

You can kill someone using ink armour pretty easily and die using it easily too. You certainly couldn't do a suicide run using it and expect to be alive.

Whereas with the bubble you can absolutely do a suicide run into an enemy camp and detonate for some easy kills, but even the bubble can be stopped easily by shooting it a few times, and that's more powerful than the ink armour.

does ink armour refill HP to full as well though, or does it just add the extra 30 points of overshield on top of whatever HP you have at the moment?

Also I was surprised to find out the hamster ball actually pops if it takes enough damage. I dunno why but I was sure it was invincible

Just additional HP.

It pops surprisingly easy.

Not only that but it also won't move towards someone if they're shooting at you. You can't push forward against the ink coming towards you.

I don't think many people realise that if you're persistent you can stop those bubbles really easily.

I think what happens is people take a few shots, don't see anything happening and think "damn that shit's invincible".

I've played maybe 15-20 Ranked Matches in the past 6 hours...I think I've won like 2 or 3...

...life is hard at C+ when teammates seem all but incapable of doing anything.
