I don't understand how the ranking works. Sometimes I have the most kills, conquerd the Zone, defended it and did everything I could, but I am at the bottom of the Scoreboard.

If it's like the first game, you're ranked based on your win/loss ratio for the last X games, I can't remember how many it was, maybe the last 10?

even in a 1v1 it's all about flanking and making yourself enough cover to get around your enemy and surprise them from an angle they're not expecting

i mean not to discount your stragtgy or anything

Oh, sure, but that's just how to win a 1vs1 to begin with.

Unless you have a Tri-Slosher, in which case flanking is almost irrelevant.

Add me in the "don't get the tri slosher hype" crowd. Maybe I'm not moving right but I tried it for a few rounds and just thought it was absolute crap.

I thought the tri-slosher was rubbish.

It's really imprecise in covering ground and as far as killing goes the regular slosher seems more effective.

Would say the love is more about the Tri-Slosher coming with Ink Armor than anything. That, and everyone's aim potatoes sometimes. The 'side' shots of the Tri-Slosher dealing as much as the main shot makes it pretty forgiving.
Edit: Now that I think about it, didn't they nerf Rollers way back then because the Dynamo's fling was pretty much a wave of death?

Finally caved and bought a pro controller and Man, it feels like I'm playing a different game!

The movement and aim improvements were instantly apparent to the point that I feel like I've been letting my team down playing with joycons since I wasn't preforming as well as I am now.

Oh so it's not about the last game? That's...weird. Thank you!

Another Question: if I want to get Ability Chunks does it make any difference if I scrub them as soon as I have one or if i wait until I have 3? With the cheap Splatfest Shirt it would be the fastest to just get the first one after a round or two and restart? Or 2?

Is it me or lore scrolls in this game are kind of crap compared to splatoon 1. Im only halfway story mode with every scroll up to there, and the only interesting scroll was the first one with the concert thingy.

I dont give two craps plastic needs to be burned to make more comfortable clothes.

There;s some fun stuff but overall there's nothing insane like the first game chronicling the fall of humanity.

I do feel like they're setting up
the Salmonids
to be the main enemies in Splatoon 3 (or if they do a story DLC). I thought the few that talked about them were pretty cool.

After 2 makes sense.

iirc, It takes 4K for the first slot, 8K for the second and 12K for the third. Doing all three takes as long as doing the first two, and since you get 2K+ for a win on turf war if you scrub after only the 4K unlock you may end up throwing almost 50% of your earned points away (if you were at 3.9K before the slot unlock and followed with a 2.5K win)

You definilety neee to adjust the way you cover turf. But the sub weapon is amazing at painting floors and walls so it can make up for it in a pinch. Also the tri slosher doesnt require you to be acurate, meaning that its easy to hit movimg targets while you yourself stay mobile or near cover, it also kills in 2 hits and the arc of the slosher also makes it easy to hit targets in lower or higher ground. I was getting around 20 splats per match whenever we didnt win by a fast ko.

It carried me from C to A. Actually I lost 6 matches in a row after getting to A rank in splatzones. I was getting outplayed hard, it was clear I didnt belong to that rank.

Havent touched ranked yet, but arent there a few good weapons with great range to counter bucket users?

Ye-es... but Tri-Slosher comes with Ink Armour, meaning that if they're choosing to engage with you, they can probably overcome the range. You have to be very pro-active in picking on them when they seem a little hesitant, it's one of the few weapons where I go out of my way to go for them at the first opportunity where they're not doing the same to me.

I think the Tri-Slosher would be fine if it came with a different sub and special, but as it is, it has probably the best sub, the best special, the best close- and mid-range engagement. It's just really, really good.

Yeah, I tried to use the Joycons when I was playing in portable mode for a match and it was a disaster compared to the Pro controller, lol. It's like the right stick wasn't in a place I could easily reach or something.

I got disconnected before the end of the match though (was trying connection upstairs, lol, bad idea), so I don't know HOW badly I did, just bad.

Nerd.

Same for me. I had no problem using the grip for Zelda but it really helps to have a Pro controller for Splatoon.

I've been trying out the Dualie Squelchers and I think I'm going to stick with them for a while. The range has taken some getting used to but it's nice having a weapon with a longer range and the dodge roll.

Salmon Run true greatness lies in its music, it's so fitting and on point.

Great mode, though I have to say I'll wait for great weapons to do it. It's hard to level up with some of them that I'm unfamiliar with.

I don't think there's any difference in the tech between them. It's just shaped differently (and presumably weighs more) than the joycon in the grip

Finally got the game yesterday. I forgot how Splatoon is immediately so fun. I have only played in handheld so far. Looking forward to playing on TV with a pro controller later.

I don't know, I feel like dualie Joy-cons are really great for motion controls, feels somewhat natural to only move my right hand around when aiming at stuff, rather than tilting the Pro Controller.
I still use the Pro Controller though.

I have issues using both the right analogue stick + motion controls with the dual joycons. I'm not quite sure why but I seem to lose track of my right joy stick, something that doesn't happen with the pro controller. Perhaps the joycons are just too small for my hands, I don't have the same issue in handheld mode.

Possibly, I have small hands so I don't have this problem but I sometimes do feel like the stick on right Joy-con is located too low, gotta reach for it and it's nowhere as near comfortable as the Procon is.

It is a good killing weapon but because I'm really focused on covering as much ground as possible asap, the Aerospray still remains unbested.

The armor is the one negative to it if anything. If it had basically any other special, it would be unstoppable, especially if it had jetpacks.

So, uh, how exactly do the not-Miiverse posts work in this? I just spent hours making this one, but I'm not seeing it show up anywhere in game?

I even checked my husband's game after playing a match with each other and it doesn't show up for him either. My Inkling's in his game by the Lobby but it doesn't show a post at all. I submitted it via the "Splatfest Post" option, not the "Draw" option, so I dunno if that might make a difference or what...

It’s all based on retweets I believe. You have to be social media popular to get in on Inkopolis Square.

Like every splattershot and the NES gun. Just gotta stay out of their range.

Buckets slightly outrange the Splattershot and Nzap so you need to get in there if you want to kill them with those.

If you want a shooter that outranges the sloshers try the Splattershot Pro or the Dualie/Jet Squelchers.

someone just described rainmaker as 'football if the football was a gun' and i think that's not bad

All about positioning (despite what some may think). I dominate with it. Did the same with the original slosher. If I get in a lane or on Higher ground, it's usually a wrap.

It is a good killing weapon but because I'm really focused on covering as much ground as possible asap, the Aerospray still remains unbested.

Covers a lot ground fast imo. I'm usually 1st or 2nd when using it.

Funfact, american football is called football because of the fact that the game is heavily influenced by inches-yards-feet that a lot of times decide the game.

Then it should be feetball, but we could abbreviate it to feeble.

The tri-slosher is great in every mode. That's why I enjoy it. Right now it is my go-to for Rainmaker. But I enjoy shooting ink more than flinging it so I use the aerospray in turf war and splatzones.

So I bit the ink blot and ordered this. Haven't bought a Switch game since 1,2 Switch. This looks really good though.

Is there any kind of persistence to Salmon Run? Other than your skill increasing, do you get anything worthwhile?

Is it pretty fun for L4D fans? I hear they're making more frequent, is that true?

If you keep winning in higher ranks, you get big money bonuses.

You get lots of money, coupons for the food truck, (usually exp/money gain for the other MP modes) 3-star gear which can lead to ability chunks. (used for adding specific abilities to gear, for the other MP mode)

Its basically a mode that lets you gain items that can help you in the other multiplayer modes.

Wouldn't equate it to L4D though. Certainly not as it is currently. Definitely fun though!

Fuck Salmon Run is hard today. The supplied weapons are pretty difficult to use in this mode.

The weapons are better but the Spawning Grounds map is much harder due to the enemies being able to attack you from every direction at once.
