Got a great kit though. Point sensor rocks, and Cloud's great for getting people to haul ass.

Team Mayo here, never played the original Splatoon. Does the winning team get anything from this? What exactly are splatfests? Also, I cautiosly picked this game up when I got my Switch (since I already owned Zelda and Mario Kart on the Wii U) and I'm pretty surprised by how much I've been enjoying it. Haven't really touched the single player, which I'm maybe even more surprised at. It's been Turf Wars and some occasional Salmon Run for me so far.

SP is short but sweeeeet.
Competing in the splatfest gets you super snails that you can use to add slots to items. I think winners get more, but you always get some for competing.

Splatfest is a 24 hour turf war event where you pick a side (this time it's Mayo or Ketchup) and fight to see who's the best.
You get Super Sea Snails from participating, which help you unlock slots on gear or reroll (much cheaper than paying for it). Winning team gets more, but both teams get a decent amount if you hit a high enough rank.
Winning gets you points which you use to raise your rank, You go from Fanboy/girl to fiend, to defender, to champion, to king/queen. You get more snails based on your rank
The Splatfest itself will take place this weekend, but you can choose your team and get your Splatfest Tee already.

Oh thank heck. Sunday's my only day off, so it would have been a huge bummer if I didn't get time to participate in the first Splatfest.
There is a stand in the square, near the entrance to the lobby, it has a screen showing the Mayo and Ketchup logos, just go there and press A.
Your level doesn't matter for this, everyone can participate.

OK so played it in docked finally with the pro controller as well because why not. Much better and none of those issues I had with handheld mode or tabletop. Now problem is that when no longer fighting the controlls anymore other issues are annoying me when playing
