After an unusual streak of good luck, skill, and a great team, I finally "maxed out" my Profreshional rank! Says 110 right now.

On an unrelated note, there's been a... disturbingly rate of animal/furry posts lately. I wonder what's up with that.

Just lost 20 points because our idiot fucking teammate with the last egg we needed refused to put it in the basket even though he was right fucking next to it for the last 10 seconds

Well I finally finished single player and got up to B- rank. It didn't take long but haven't been able to play much lately. At least now I can play all the game modes, lol. Still only level 11 too, so looking forward to going online a bit more.

PTE represented!

Grr I desperately want that hat in Swim Speed up :(

There are two tiers to the gushers that don't contain a goldie. The first is a very low gusher flow with no light; this means the goldie is hiding very far away from that gusher. Gushers with some golden light and a higher gusher flow height means that the goldie is somewhere around the gusher you just opened.

Think of it like a "getting warmer". You can use the height as an indicator of how close the goldie is, and then only search the gushers closest to the one you just opened. This also makes your life easier, as opening fewer gushers means less enemies coming up to the surface to swarm you.

Not much you can do really. Best thing you can do is make sure you can play the weapons in rotation well, spam bombs to revive people at a distance, and try not to get killed yourself. Same as regular games, minus the revives, really. :P

EDIT: On this note, throwing bombs can save you from teamwipes. Even if your entire team is down, the round will not end until a bomb in play explodes. You can use this to revive downed teammates even if you all die, allowing you to continue play instead of failing.

Thanks for this. I will make my life so much easier.

You'd think by now there would be a good wiki for Splatoon 2 but there isn't. I still don't know what a lot of the abilities do since I can't find any good source which puts the English descriptions next to the icons.

I just went on a six game losing streak where I was still getting overp 1,100p each game (except one) and it was the most frustrating time ever. I finally managed to get a win, but still that streak was so demoralising

Is it just me, or are Octobrushes dominating the game?

In A+ across modes, and I swear and octobrush and or/ a trislosher will run rampant every other game and my team and I can do nothing about it.

Maps and modes I like to run a brush, I got doubles and triples around the objective or on a flank like nobody's business.

Plus autobomb in hectic modes like Rainmaker and scrambles in tower control is ridiculously strong. Moving to "set" it while being under fire has got to be the strongest zoning bomb - and that's if you notice it.

I ran some nasty shenanigans with Octobrush in S1, but needed to stack Attack Up (like 1 main and 3 sub at least) to get the kind of kills I get in S2.

I also don't remember having so much difficulty shooting through it's inkcloud.

Anyone else feel the Octobrush is "OP", or at least the new game's balance and nerfs to key perks like ink resistance, respawn, haunt, etc., making disruptors, point sensors, and burst bombs more ink-hungry etc., leave it a bit unchecked?

Lucky. I got to 80, but couldn't max it. Then I demoted to Overachiever and had to climb my way back up again.

If you go into the weapon test range at Sheldons (the weapons shop), you can open a screen that shows all the abilities and effects they have.

Okay, Unique Ability opinions:

Opening Gambit has good use in Splatzones since you can be first to the zone and lock down properly. Tower Control is too slow for 30 seconds of speed to benefit, as is Turf Wars. Limited use in Rainmaker between equally matched teams but can increase the gulf between a great team and a good team.

Ninja Squid is great in every mode to accompany any of the short-range weapons. Octobrush's wet dream.

Last-Ditch Effort is garbage since there's no guarantee any of the Ranked modes even reach 30 seconds.

Haunt is pretty meh.

Stealth Jump is pretty meh.

Teanacity is really good in... pretty much all modes to be honest. Especially good with a defensive special like Bubbler or Ink Armour as a means to hold on to an objective when a man down.

Thermal Ink is okay in Turf War, but I think not great in Ranked since they encouragement engagement - if you've hit someone once and are not dead, you're probably hitting them again.

Object Shredder is garbage.

Comeback is terrible because it only works if you got splatted without getting a kill yourself and the game doesn't tell you this.

Respawn Punisher is too much of a double-edged sword to be reliable.

Drop-Roller is completely forgettable.

IMO, Ninja Squid would almost always be the best pick, followed by Tenacity and then Opening Gambit. Probably wouldn't use a unique ability which is not one of those.

Yea, um...I think this is because of Furry twitter, which is one of the most active communities on that site. Popular posts from within the furry community frequently get likes and retweets in the thousands. Since Inkopolis' visible posts are based on social media engagement, a lot of drawings by prominent furry artists have been getting visibility. Then there was that one post that said something along the lines of "Stop drawing furries, please", which I think caused a bunch of non-furries to be like "nah, I like that art" and then everyone started drawing animal art as a response. It'll probably die down eventually.

lmao i saw this post and then my plaza loaded and the first post i saw was 'draw more furries'

Is there really no way to see the Salmon Run schedule except for ingame when you're online? A Salmon Run Fansite even, that keeps the schedule updated? xD

People keep saying this, but I never had a problem with Switch' Wifi. Also, this doesn't seem to be a wide problem.

I have yet to have a single issue with Wi-Fi or internet on the switch at all. Not even a single disconnect in a lobby thus far.

Not saying people don't have issues.

Minor point here. I haven't personally tested this in S2 yet, but in S1, Last Ditch Effort was altered to activate as soon as the enemy team gets their remaining points down to 30. I see no reason for them to have changed this to ranked modes in S2; it's still situational, but doesn't rely on there being only 30 s left to be useful. I'll see if I can test in a Private Battle tonight to confirm.

On this note, I recall someone talking about Respawn Punisher and how when they trade, they still respawn first. Although hard numbers haven't been determined yet, it has been confirmed by a few people on one of the competitive Splatoon Discords that whilst Respawn Punisher DOES still increase your respawn time and special loss when you die (i.e. double edged sword effect), the effect is slightly less than that you inflict on enemies you kill whilst wearing the ability.

The entire back of the switch is an unbroken metal heatsink. Including over the wifi antenna. It's really not surprising that the thing has connection issues.

also lmao

So I'm finding A rank to be a lot more difficult than B. I was consistently top scorer during the B bracket but A is a whole different beast.

To those of you A rank and above, what sensitivity settings do you find works for you?

I don't know if it's OP, but it does feel much stronger than the S1 version. I've stopped using it because it had become "too easy" to overwhelm the opponents, but I think the game being full of new players plays a important part in that. I mean, there are still a lot of people who don't know to backup against a brush/roller and use their superior range and A LOT of people using Aerospray which doesn't have enough range of power to beat a melee weapon. Just look at how 2 or 3 of your teammates paint the base at the start of the match instead of rushing to hold the most critical locations. I think it's soon yet to start calling anything OP.

They really need to nerf the Fly Fishes. You simply have zero chance of succeeding when 3 of those fuckers show up at the same time.

You need good teamwork and specially that the guy being chased plays it smart and tries to place the flyfishes in a position where the rest of the team can hit them from behind...instead of rushing towards it's companions and getting the whole team killed.

Oops I thought Flyfishes were the UFO-like ones, forget everything I just wrote:P

Question for those who own the game. I realize this is a team based shooter, but how is the single player mode? I've played Zelda to death and want to pick something up, but I don't usually gravitate toward team shooters.
