I think so. And also with battlefront 2. I'm not sure if they have lootboxes or not, but neither of the have season passes/maps behind a paywall.
Oh, Battlefront has lootboxes. And it sounds like they may be gameplay altering.

That lack of microtransactions was one of the reasons I picked up Project Cars 2.Protip for publishers, make a great game and advertise it for NOT having lootboxes or season passes. You might make more money than if you put in lootboxes or season passes.
I opened 30 Lucky Car Crate and got 0 Legendary Car. I'll just let that sink in
Man alive some people just can't see what is right in front of them.
These aren't just cosmetics, these are gameplay mechanics that have been in numerous previous iterations of the game shifted from the game to loot boxes.
Not only that, but various systems have been altered to push these loot boxes.

"Lucky" Car Crate appears to be a "higher chance" loot box. My god that menu with all the loot boxes is scummy as fuck. Basic/Premier/Lucky/Elite/Mystery/etc. Smh. Not even just one loot box, confuse consumers and dangle multiple in front of them.
Take a bow Turn 10, FeetoPay, amirite? This game ¯_(ツ_/¯

MS not very clear VIP bonus gains are now consumable
https://news.xbox.com/2017/09/29/forza-motorsport-ultimate-edition-now-available/
As someone said above, the old system punished casuals who needed the assists turned on by giving them less credits and this slowed them from getting new cars. This way everyone gets the same credits from playing. Those who decide to buy a loot box might get a mode to earn extra credit in a race. Though i always find money in game come easy anyway.
People will also be receiving loot boxes anyway by playing the game.
I personally would never buy a loot box with cash but i don't mind opening one for in game currency.
The VIP pass only lasting for 25 races is more of an issue, when previously it was permanent
They don't want to see it for what it is when their favourite company/game is in the firing line.
The introduction of mods last year was just them warming up for this. The VIP stuff is actually disgusting, and the removal of rewards for selecting less assists etc is even more scummy.
What it going to be next year?
If I bought the ultimate edition then I'd be on the phone to trading standards about the VIP shite.
And as already discussed in this thread, there are many ways to incentivise casuals and methods to help them out in order to level the playing field. This isn't one of them.
My only issue really is with the gambling aspect of the loot crate, not a good thing to be introducing young people to.
Most reviews probably won't even mention this exists.
Oh, Battlefront has lootboxes. And it sounds like they may be gameplay altering.
Found this image on reddit. The wording on the storefront isn't even crystal clear. Bet it gets changed, but this is a screencap as is

Should at least be "Including 100% CR Bonus*"
*limited time use
This is all to "stop" you getting credits as easy to try and encourage people buying loot boxes rather than grinding out credits to buy them. As above someone opened 30 "lucky" crates and got no legendary car. That's 9000000 worth of credits.

Of course the wording will get changed as soon as possible. They have been deleting threads on FM.net to try and pretend it doesn't exist so they will change the wording and pretend they didn't mislead people who bought the ultimate edition.
How did someone get 9mil credits so fast if Maintainance was saying that credits come by extremely slowly in this game? Which was the argument for like half this thread.
No. I'm just pointing out that we're not over the hump yet. This edition will set the precedent for the Forza franchise. This is something you must be aware of when buying into these practices.
I thought everybody said that when Forza 5 came out with micro transactions in your face from the start and they had to patch it out?
This doesn't seem that bad - the mods give you an XP boost for winning races, so what? As long as they aren't something you can apply to multiplayer, and as long as they don't allow you to pay for the loot boxes. Certainly doesn't appear to be pay to win, and no ‘press X to buy more credits' unlike previous games.
Just feels a bit skinner boxey, but maybe people expect that ‘reward' each time nowadays? I'm not a fan of how obfuscated game have become. You need to dig to find out what the core game offers, below layers of preorder bonuses, season passes, early access charges etc.
Personally I find the VIP stuff in Forza games more annoying. You don't even get everything. You get a ‘car pass' but there are still plenty of car packs they sell on the side. So even buying in at the top tier you need to spend more if you want everything.
"Once we confirm that the game economy is balanced and fun for our players out in the wild, we plan to offer Tokens [a real-money currency that works like CR] as a matter of player choice. Some players appreciate using Tokens as a way of gaining immediate access to content that may take many hours to acquire in the normal course of play. There will also be an option within the in-game menu to turn off Tokens entirely."
Forza rewards.
People are already complaining about the economy on FM.net
This also negatively effects people who only like to play multiplayer in these games. Before they could remove all the assists, only play multiplayer and get enough credits to buy/upgrade the cars they wanted. But now because they removed the bonuses for running with no assists those people are either forced to play single player (which they don't want to do), or spend a lot of time waiting until they get enough credits to purchase the cars they want.
It's fucked the game in more ways than one for a lot of people.
Once we confirm that all reviews for the game are out and on Metacritic where they cannot be amended, we'll offer tokens for purchase.

How do the loot boxes work anyway - some of them are really expensive, but if mods are one-time use then won't it be difficult to ‘earn back' what you've spent from bonus CR?
Forza rewards.

I won't defend Turn 10...but I do like how they have allowed you to hide the Tokens after they introduce them.
All games should do that.
My point is that the outrage with BF1 is ridiculous. They don't have any schemes in the way of anything. Yes, you can buy boxes the prices are ridiculous and hardly any sane person does it and it's only cosmetic.
BF1 gives you a metric ton of content, and yet some of the same people are bitching endlessly about splitting up the community, and how we should all have free maps.
Reality check: free maps is a game like BF1 is gonna entail loot boxes and stupid shit like this. This is your money scheme. This is what it will come down to AND you will only get like 5 maps over 2 years lol.
And this is why I have no problem with BF1's model seeing as they provide premium passes to friends of season pass owners. Yet the same kind of ridiculous bitching keeps on and on.... it's like gamers don't know what they want anymore, and think somehow these publishers are going to shit out massive free DLCs for oh you know having a couple cosmetics for people to buy in game.
Welcome to the reality where not only do they have season passes they have loot boxes too. The worst of both worlds.
We have no idea what kind of bullshit they have in store for Battlefront 2, but I can already see the endless whining.
This is like a protip from a failing economics major.
Agreed, I really wonder if sometime during the development period the team gathers to brainstorm on "how to scam the users" "without being too obvious".
Shameful really.
Hiding the fact that the built is around opening loot boxes is not a solution to the problem, it's just to make you feel better that the problem isn't there.![]()
If the mods are the same as in Forza 6 then we should be getting two types of thewn. One type is permanent nids, another single use only. In Forza 6 the best way was to compile a few rare mods for an endurance race to receive an insane payout. If you didn't do that you just wasted a good mod.
...how?
I'm Tier 9 in Forza loyalty rewards, almost Tier 10 (which is really fucking high), and the credit reward it gives me for Forza 7 is 225,000 credits. He got 9 million credits in a day or two from Forza Rewards? I'm calling bullshit here.
All are consumables. No permanents now.
Well fucking Christ.
I feel dirty buying this game now. Serves me right for getting caught up in the hype and the hype to see it on One X.
Back in 2013, the fanbase was very vocal about FM5s initial economy: it seemed unfairly skewed towards pushing Tokens. Eventually, T10 responded, lowering the price of cars and making the game economy less of a grind. Hopefully, a similar response to what is a very controversial addition to FM7 will change things for the better.
It is bs, highest tier gives you only 500k. He got credits playing game. I have been playing for 6 hours and have over 6 mil credits already. It's super easy to get credits in Forza 7.

From the article
This is why people complain for all the posters who drive by and tell everyone to stop moaning. Sometimes it works.
Forza 7 appears to be an even worse proposal than 5, actively changing how the VIP bonus works, removing assist bonuses, increasing car prices and the loot boxes on top.
Not everyone can play for hours and hours each day and as you can see you can open 30 of the most expensive loot boxes and still not get a legendary car.

If you got so much credit did you have to do something extraordinarily difficult or tedious to get so much credit?
This is how it's confusing to me and I felt like I needed to play the game my self. If they biggest problem with the loot crates is it locks getting higher amounts of credits for skill adjustments behind them then the problem would essentially be the amount of credit you get in the 1st place. If you got so much credit did you have to do something extraordinarily difficult or tedious to get so much credit?

Spam Nissan GTR FE on Suzuka 30 laps with VIP mods
I assume you use the Mods you want to get more money to buy more packs to make more money.
If that's the case then they have nerfed Forza rewards hard for this version then. You used to be able to get millions of credits using Forza rewards. The only other method would be to strategically use the VIP/assist mods on a long/endurance race and sack the difficulty up to max.
If you are not savvy to how this stuff works then you will waste your starter mods on the normal low payout early races and then have to grind.
For example:
https://youtu.be/gGm9GfRGmq4
That's 750,000 cr in half an hour but it relies on you having the VIP mods. So it will be really interesting when the less savvy and people without the VIP mods start playing next week.
Yup, I've seen mods from 70-100% credit increase and you can have 3 mods per race. Couple that with what Hertz is doing and you can get credits real fast. Now watch the conversation move toward the crappy loot box % probabilities (which to be fair do suck, but can be changed) for legendaries meanwhile that's the same almost everywhere else.

Forza rewards were nerfed years ago lol I guess you don't play forza much.
And no, I'm not using vip mods, just regular mods that I got in the game.
Again, not true. For years I've reguarly logged in and received credits even when our Xbox was in storage. Are you talking about mid-gen 360 days? Jesus...
Edit: beaten lol.
Nah I didn't have a need to pay attention to how many credits I get from rewards in FH 2/3 and FM6 because I run with all assists off and a quiet game used to throw credits at me for doing so.
Not anymore apparently.
