Nioh coming to Steam on November 7, Nioh Complete for PS4 same day

Not really surprising in the end. The price and that artstyle on the game's title card likely turned off a ton of people. Fair or not, people see the schoolgirl aesthetic and immediately think it's a sleezy porn game due to how many of them flooded in after Valve opened the floodgates.

I totally get why a lot of people wouldn't want it, but this is way too low. Even lower than Xanadu Next.

I made a post ages ago suggesting that Nioh would likely come to PC because of the way Sony branded it. Everyone shat on it.

Console warrior threads are just communal exercises in chronic masturbation for the welfare of a corporation that both stokes and profits off of their shared insanity. Like a cult, it's best not to engage them and hope they stay in their boxes away from the rest of society.

"The PC version can be played either on Action Mode, which features a stable 60fps, or on Movie Mode, which is described as a cinematic option that can expand the resolution to 4K. Koei Tecmo's note to press suggests you can't deviate from either of these two modes, no matter how powerful your PC."

Is this a joke?

Sounds like KT alright. My guess is that despite what developers might want, they give the bare minimum budget to do a port so you end up with shit that is in no way tailored to make use of PC hardware.

Maybe not. If they went all out on the 4K mode (lol), then that extra space could be 4K masters of the prerenders. Would be a nice touch, but if so they probably should have made it an optional download.

If anything, they'll be Vita resolution by default and there'll be an optional download for 1080p versions. :p

It's an amusing situation because on one hand you have the recent kerfuffle with Blue Reflection that just turned out to be a communication error and on the other you have KT's history of inconsistent PC port quality. Where the truth lies is anybody's guess!

Any indication of the PS4 price? Didn't see anything after browsing through several articles.

I wouldn't expect anything lower than full price given the base game is still $60 on PSN.

I thought this was PS4 exclusive? Does that mean...

Timed exclusive maybe, but it was said prior to release that it was coming to PC. Then info on that release just kind of vanished.

It wasn't just wishful thinking on my part, the PC version was mentioned prior to release. It was even listed on the Wikipedia page at release.

Can I add to this debate the fact that KT is asking for content creators to try the PC version of NiOh?

Can anybody confirm that's a first?

If this is a first then its a very good sign, and we'll get to, presumably, see footage of the pc version before it's out.

You're thinking of the carnival of stupid that followed the announcement of the PC version of Nier Automata. Nioh was only ever advertised as a PS4 title (disregarding for the sake of discussion the fact it was originally announced as a PS3 title).

I wish they'd just give it to Durante and let him have a look at it. I'm not really interested in 'content creator' opinions on youtube.

No, I'm really not. I had been following this game, and before the beta even it was stated that it would be coming to both PC and PS4, which then had me thinking the PC version might arrive a month or two later. As it drew closer to release, nothing on the PC version had been mentioned anymore and then people started questioning if it was going to be released on PC too (despite it already having been said that it would be).

Fuck if I know where I kept seeing this, but it wasn't speculation threads here, and at least as of Oct of last year, a PC version "wasn't planned" supposedly, even though I knew about it being planned before then...

Nah you got the wrong game. Team Ninja was asked in a interview if there was a pc version and they said they currently have no plans for one.

Yeah. The game does have some low-resolution backgrounds, but it's otherwise fine.

It was never officially said to be coming to PC. It was a PS4 title when it resurfaced at TGS 2015, it was a PS4 title at PSX 2015 (after which there was this "clarification") and it was a PS4 title at E3 2016 (and so on).

I'm not interested either but them handing out copies to youtubers means they're open to show, and most importantly let people fiddle, with the game before its out in the market which means they might be confident about their product, or at least more confident than they were with past releases.

I guess I'll just chalk it up to imagining what it would be like on PC, and expecting it to be released similarly to how the Souls games are, because you know, it's a "Souls" game (not really), despite being released by another publisher and developer. I can't find anything concrete now that contradicts what Tecmo said, despite "knowing" it was supposed to be on PC and despite the listings of it being on PS4 and Windows. Well before it was released I had planned all along to buy the game twice if the PC version wasn't released close to the PS4 version. So I don't know...

Now I'm just going to wait and see though how well it was optimized or not.

fwiw it's 2017. it's kind of a given any relatively successful 3rd party game will eventually get to PC if it hasn't already

holding out for FFXII zodiac age *nervously rolls dice

Dunno why you're worried about ffxii of all things lol

Square has made a point of quickly throwing every ff game they have on pc in the last five years. It's undoubtedly coming, just a question of when.

no doubt. i just have the appetite for it now... since the ports are unceremoniously dropped on steam it's kind of a nervous waiting game.

This post is a thing of true beauty.

Why? when it would be better to port the sigma series...Where the first game was already remastered/enhanced...

Arguing about control schemes aside, my heart is warm. The PC platform is truly in a Golden Age of Japanese ports.

It's like it gets better every month. There is no stopping this train.

Well, I wish I would have known it was coming to pc since the beginning. Then I wouldn't have bothered with it on ps4.

Any possible future port of Ninja gaiden, you should expect it to be based on the sigma games base, even if they do adjustments to it.

They are likely not legally allowed to use the original Xbox assets for 1 and 2 for other consoles as per the contract.

I don't really see much of an issue with it. Sigma 1 and 2 had a good amount of improvements to the original, even if there were also steps back. And as said before they could still adjust it like DMC4SE did

I wish Japanese games would let you preorder on Steam - don't they know that if preorders go well, it'll end up on the top sellers list where everyone can see it?

I know its a bit of a generalisation to say Japanese games, but seems like a lot of western games DO let you preorder.

Interestingly there is a pretty major community uproar in China about the PC release, because the Asian version (and only the Asian version) has "Only on PlayStation" on the cover implying it being an exclusive:

It was not on other version of the game, not even the Japanese cover has it:
