I'd wait (I'm waiting). To the peeps adding games, how user friendly is it to add games? Is this like some sort of beta testing or a full release? I wanna add some games but I'm afraid I might brick my snes.

Yeah, I've ordered a couple of items through them in the past and it's always been a great experience. It's nice to see them actually ship the items in (*gasp!*) boxes and not flimsy bubble envelopes, and I love how they use a backing board for the product along with plastic to hold it down in-place inside the box. Seriously great stuff.Same. They have been insanely quick on shipping for all three of my orders this year (Switch pro controller when US stock was an issue, neon green/pink joycons, and the SFC).
As long as you don't skip the first step of "Kernel -> Dump Kernel" and then KEEP THAT FILE SAFE, you can't get a bricked SNES. At worst, you mess it up and have to reflash this dump which you KEPT SAFE.
This applies whether you do it now or wait.
One thing even the latest release of hakchi is not doing is flagging if a game has a battery save or not. Everything you put through hakchi gets this in its config file.
Code:SaveCount=0
Which means even if a game has a battery save function, you won't get an icon for it on the SNES Mini. To fix this, go into the /snes_games/ folder before you sync, and manually edit the .desktop file. Change it to a 1 to get the battery save icon to appear.
This might be a dumb question but I'm at work and haven't tried the hack yet. When you say dumb is there literally a dumb button or are we just making a copy?
There's a dump button.
Don't press the dumb button.
Okay wait a fuckin second, i can play Pokemon Gold on my tv? thanks to the Snes mini?
...woah dude
So about how much space do we have to add games, and how should we leave free to be on the safe side for saves? I plan to add about 50mb.

Yeah, I thought I read about 250 or something. Would ~200 be enough for saves? (I'm guessing easily)I believe there's about 250mb of useable space.

Neat, thanks. Though ~450kb per save is way more than I thought.Looking at my save states in OpenEmu, it looks like SNES saves are 350-550kb each. So, assuming an average of 450kb per save, and four saves per game, you're looking at about 1.8mb needed for each game added to the system. 200mb should be plenty.
Because blurry box-art as thumbnails is boring, this is how I've spent my evening.

Have they fixed the cover ratio?

No idea, I've done all my art manually. Soz.
Any tips if I want to remove a game I added?
The boxarts themselves are higher res too, no? (Or they just look sharper on my monitor than my big TV which is also def possible)
so, for everyone who got it, is it worth it?
I might only be interested with yoshi island, earthbound, mario rpg, super castlevania, super punch out and one of two kirby games.
Also is it Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy III ?
Of course it was worth it. The SNES is an absolutely amazing system.
Also, it's the game which was released in the US as Final Fantasy 3, which was released in Japan as Final Fantasy 6.
The game that was released in Japan as Final Fantasy 3 is a Famicom game.
Just untick it and resync.
Those are just the default boxes, haven't done anything with those. Gotta be the monitor thing.![]()
Thanks man, do I have to do the reset+power if I want to add or resync games? Or can I just hook it up and turn it on?
Do we need to do anything special for pal roms? Is it even worth it to use pal roms?
Good to note that once you've updated the Kernel and modded the SNES, the next time you want to connect it to your pc to use it in Hakchi2, you just power it on normally, you don't hold the Reset button to put it in debug mode.
Was scratching my head for a couple of minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn'T connect anymore lol
