I wasn't going to expend an inordinate amount of orbs on this banner for the same reason (and I could always just use Lachesis if I didn't get Ayra), but thankfully I managed to get her after a few more pulls.
+HP -DEF doesn't seem like a particularly good nature, but at least it wasn't a SPD or ATK bane.

If anything, the datamine should've alerted people that something was up. Aside from Camus, Xander and the CYL units, we've never gotten great units for free. The mysteriously absent Arden also should've set off at least a few warning signals.
That said, the fact that neither Arden or Ayra were highlighted in the trailer reeks of purposeful misdirection. If nothing else IS have certainly cost themselves a lot of trust with this.
There's a lesson to be learned here - if you want a unit that is shown in a trailer, save orbs until you know how they're gained. The Sigurd banner is still here and will be for the next 10 days but everyone jumped on it the instant it released and in this case it cost them.
I'm decently entertained by how this entire troll was set up around Arden of all characters. I'm sure that more than a few people will be feeling resentment as that strange, overly-detailed character waddles into their barracks as a trials reward instead of the Ayra they expected.

The only good thing is that she is melee infantry so she won't be that opressive on defense as Lyn. But still she getting mpre love than Lancina is incredibly unfair. Even compared to Nephenee. Both are the second in popularity in their games. But Nephenee is from a much more popular game and have both versions ahead of Ayra.

BK and Ayra are pretty comparable (skills and stats wise) so assuming Ayra will be a TT reward isn't completely baseless I suppose. I do agree with you though regarding Arden being a more likely choice for TT rewards. Maybe BK is just a outlier and should not be what we base our expectations on.

That's a busted stat line. I think I'd probably have the ATK over the SPD. 44 SPD with Swift Sparrow and you double pretty much everything.
Somehow I totally forgot about him despite really liking him. Probably because he's an armor and I don't use them outside of the monthly quests.
Point is, it's not particularly normal that we get incredible units for free and Ayra looks to be on a completely different level to most. Even without that there was still Arden to alert people. I'm not looking to kick anyone while they're down and this is definitely a mean-spirited move from IS but hopefully this serves as a wake-up call to people that they're playing a game in one of the more predatory genres on mobile. Expecting to get screwed like this and planning around it is almost part of the metagame.

IS should have just put Ayra in the Holy War banner since the other two Focus Heroes are really old. With the amount of Red that I summoned from Holy War, I probably could have had at least one Focus.
I don't even want Ayra, but putting her in a separate banner is just a real cheap move. I feel bad for the F2Pers who really like her but don't have any more Orbs to summon for her.

Not really. My Nino has 51 Spd. Getting Ayra to level 50 will end up with 44+4 Spd when attacking.
I'd want a +Spd/-Res Ayra with Spd+3 seal equipped at level 50 to have 50+4 Spd when attacking (no buffs) because it guarantees her +1 Special Charge cooldown when attacking and 40% of Spd is ~21 extra damage from Regnal Astra.
Edit: I forgot my Nino has summoner support so she technically has 49 Spd without it.
If I added it to Ayra, 52+4 Spd when attacking. Hehe
So apparently the japaneses are mad too. IS change TT and gauntlet based on fan demand so maybe they will make something about it.
The existence of Ayra herself is already scummy but it would be ok if her separate banner didn't have another red. Maybe they will make the hero fest red focus to compensate.

You can also equip her with Phantom Speed 3 seal to get her to basically proc her Weapon Effect every attack. However, yeah, you're in the level 50 world, while I'm still in the 40+2-3 range.

Much better pull. Inigo is limited and has proven usefulness, he also shares the pull with another top tier unit. Ayra will definitely come back sooner or later, Heroes with desperation maybe.
I'd think they have even more reason to be mad since they can actually play the game that she originates from and might be attached to her for less superficial reasons.
For many people in the west the drive to pull is probably just 'beautiful woman/powerful unit', though I guess everyone has different reasons for wanting certain characters.
Hopefully something results from their complaining. As someone with no interest in Ayra I only stand to gain from this.

Wouldn't you need to equip Windsweep to her otherwise it wouldn't work? (Or fight someone else that has Windsweep)
I also wonder if Regnal Astra would also take that extra +10 Spd to add damage. Although I think it's not worth putting Windsweep on Ayra.
You don't need windsweep, the dancing blade effect on her weapon compares speed.

There's a week and a bit left on the banner so maybe just wait a see? If we are getting Halloween units (which I'm starting to doubt) they'll also be time limited and may more worthy of your orbs.

Nah you're not confusing anything. The datamine had 4* stats, and there was no variance either which is why people believed she wasn't gacha.
Not going to lie, for me it's mostly this lol. Though I think that's because Eirika is my favourite character (SS was my first FE) and the artist is the same for the two units in this game, so I was instantly drawn to her without realising why.
I didn't notice that, now I have to spend sacred coins on Phantom Spd Seal. lol

I have no issue with Ayra being a banner unit, but putting her on a separate one from the other new Genealogy units is lame.
New units should not debut with old ones, or at the very least, not share a color with a different featured unit if they're not new. (Even new units sharing colors on a banner is a bit sketchy to me.)

Yeah, it comes into play when comparing speed, which her weapon does. However at level 50, 47 SPD with Sparrow, you might not double everything, but you'll hit like a truck. That and wrath and I think you just have perma special. Also an extra 10 damage per special.
Phantom SPD won't affect her special damage tho.

How impactful is the down attack likely to be? I would rather have had neutral both but I'll take what I'm given.
Right now I'm thinking she'll be on a team with Brave Lucina and Def Ploy Innes, so maybe these will cover her lower attack stat. Possibly attack+3 sacred seal too when I've upgraded it.

She's gonna get a lot of her damage from proc'ing her special and with +SPD, you'll definitely be activating it a lot.
Go +Atk Ayra at level 50 and have 44+4 Spd when attacking, is 54+4 Spd with a Phantom Spd Seal level 3 for her blade effect, Ayra would have 56+4 Atk when attacking.
Go +Spd Ayra at level 50 and have 47+4 Spd when attacking, is 57+4 Spd with a PSS lvl 3 for her blade effect, Ayra would have 53+4 Atk when attacking.

One thing I'm wondering is will drive/spur speed boosts be factored in to her special damage? If I do pair her with Lucina she'll have an additional 6 speed when she's in drive range.

Although +Atk Ayra would be nice, PSS lvl 3 only affects her blade effect and not her actual speed. So having +Spd Ayra would still be more preferable.

My +Atk Arya's special activates pretty much every round and adds 18 extra damage, so she effectively has 61 attack before buffs. This character is nuts.

Got Ayra after my free summon which was a Fir.
+ATK -SPD; so definitely subpar. If I want to take advantage of her weapon I have to invest in the phantom speed seal. And I need Fury or LnD. Not worth it imo.

Pulled a Performing Inigo! Nature is +DEF/-RES, so not bad, just weird. Don't really care about his nature anyway, just glad I got both new green dancers without much fuss.
Might still try for the other two later, but I might go for Sigurd now instead. Or go back to waiting for a possible Halloween banner...

That was my thought too, but now that we know the TT bonus units, I kinda want one to make the grinding easier.
I've done TTs with only a 20% bonus unit before, but I'd prefer not to.

Hmmm, I get your point... Ayra would be a best goal for that, as she's both crazy good and a 40% unit, but if you just want a 40% unit Sigurd's banner is indeed a way better investment of your orbs...

Not touching that Ayra banner with a ten foot poll. People throw around the term "trap banner" a lot, but that definitely is one IMO. (And I prefer Sigurd's design.)
I did one pull on the first Genealogy banner just now and got nothing worthwhile, but I'll hold off doing any more until we get closer to the TT.

And the fanbase of the game is now older and whales like me now, and also the popularity of Geneloogy is incredibly skewed to the first gen.

Oof, my free summon session was 3 gray and 2 green. I just hit the home button and deleted the game. I suppose I should appreciate not even being given a fool's hope, but enough is enough.
