There are some crazy-ass fanboi comments in this thread, like little kids in the school yard.
Your grasp of the word 'qualifier' seems to be as poor as that of 'exclusive'. You've taken a word, distorted its meaning, misused it and inserted into your statement as some kind of rebuttal.
Your earlier statement:
You keep repeating this and you keep not providing a source where Ninja Theory said this, in spite of being asked multiple times.
Though, by this point, it doesn't really matter. You're steam-rolling ahead - either accidentally or deliberately - and keep trying to make some argument that amounts to "Sony too" - which isn't an argument, it's a deflection of some point being made about some other company. Given the topic of the thread we're in, I can't really see why that goal, or the methods used to reach it, especially matter. I can hazard a guess though.
Thanks for your time, I shan't take up any more of it.
Question--why isn't anyone talking about Ubisoft being up for potential buyout? They've been fending off a hostile takeover for some time--perhaps shareholders choose the lesser of evils and sell to Microsoft instead of Vevendi (which will try another hostile takeover...it's a question of when, and not if).
The impact isn't as significant as buying EA, but there are some quality former third party franchises that would turn heads suddenly going exclusive on Microsoft.
Vivendi is facing a lot of problems, they will try sure, but each day it seems very difficult for them, they are making mistakes not only in france but also in the rest of Europe, soon or after EU Commission will come after them.

Pretty much. I think the thread genuinely triggered a few system-centric gamers who never intend to ever own an Xbox and are afraid of a toy being taken from their pram.
For me, it was a fun rumour to ponder in a slow news week. I have to admit though, the evil side of me wants this to actually happen just to read the dummies being spat online.
no need to buy.
-create a reference hardware with one or more OEM (like google makes with phones, or Valve itself does with SteamVR and steam machines).
-Let Lenovo, Dell, Acer jump on board
-redefine PC consumer gaming with this hybrid console/pc and revive the gaming desktop market, a billion machines market target still there despite mobile.
-get the best of the 2 worlds with all guys aboard(developers, publishers, hardware producers) and wall all around a win11 gaming kernel
-MS will become the only leader of hybrid pc machines, like now Nintendo is the only leader of hybrid console.
As long MS will continue with Nadella vision of things they will be alone, they will find in Valve or Ea or Ubisoft only rivals with their own walled gardens.
if they make them coexhist in their bigger walled garden everybody is happy and will join.
Why would you want that? The One X is a leap beyond any pc you could get for $500, and you don't have to worry about drivers and other bullshit. Games are geared for it so they can achieve 4k graphics that outperform PCs that cost twice as much. Giving devs a ton of different specs to customize for just creates extra work for them.
One super powerful configuration akin to the Xbox One X mass produced and coded to take advantage of is the best option for both consumers and developers.
I want Microsoft to invest in TSMC and build a cutting edge Vapor Cooled Next Xbox using a 3nm Zen 3+ 3Ghz 3x3 core CPU, 30GBs of 3D Stacked HBM3, a 3TB SSHD and 30 TFs of GPU Horsepower. That's going to keep pace with the best of the best that pc has to offer, leapfrog the PS5 and and will stay viable for atleast a decade.
Ahhh, thanks. Wasn't aware Vevendi is facing the problems it is currently. Still, that doesn't mean Ubisoft isn't exactly on solid financial ground, or that Vevendi won't come back and try again.
I'm just saying I don't think it's just EA or PU or Valve that should be part of this discussion. Ubi is a realistic acquisition target...possibly even more so than EA. And I don't know if the Japanese have laws about foreign entities buying companies, but Bandai Namco, Sega, or Capcom would be good, realistic pickups as well and would all add games and genres that aren't already covered extensively by Microsoft.
Why is everybody assuming that Microsoft would turn everything exclusive. It really shows how outdated people here are. They don't need to make games exclusive, they can make Game Pass exclusive to Windows 10 and Xbox and maybe put it on Switch and they'll be fine.
Says people are out dated, then makes a comment that makes little sense with no explanation and says they should put game pass on switch??

LOLNOPEThe One X gives us superior performance to a $1000 PC
LOLNOPE
You're delusional.
Enjoy paying $800 for a cheaply made HP or Dell pc that the $500 Xbox One X runs circles around performance wise.
Ok, I get what you are saying and I can see the appeal of a device that can all Xbox games and all your pc games but I would only want that in
a handheld Xboy with an amd apu and a tv out instead of yet another competitor to the many boxes you can stick under your tv.
I see no advantage to outsourcing to Dell/HP but I would love to see them partnering with Valve, EA, Blizzard and Ubi to offer one unified library that links to, shows and lets you play all games you own on Steam, Xbox Live, Origin, Uplay and Battle.net
Another option.
Buy as much as possible, drop out of console race. Become the top third party game publisher with its own EA Access/Xbox Game Pass like service across platforms
FIFA will not allow its license to be platform exclusive for example. Why would they drop out? Better to expand xbox as it would be a great move to leverage exclusives, MS makes windows hardware and competes against others no reason they wouldnt do the same with Xbox games.

How much does Microsoft (not the gaming division, the corporate leadership) really care about gaming? Answer that, and you'll have some idea how much MS is willing to spend on gaming acquisitions.
I doubt it's "EA levels" of care.
It's Microsoft way - instead of funding new content they buy something existing and lock it from everyone else. In x360 they were even stealing pc releases just to push their new shiny x360.
Just like they locked away Minecraft.
It's okay, we can get the doll so that you can show us where MS hurt you.
I really hope they release a steamboy/ portable Xbox. Switch obviously shows people like that
I hope not... obviously they know h/w and can ship a great handheld I am sure just by looking at their surface line up. But when it comes to games, Nintendo games sell the Switch and MS almost zero handheld gaming experience. I'd rather them focus on the stuff they are good at which is console gaming.

Sorry maybe i didn't explained well my concept.
it's not about branding a pc.
This is not the concept of hybrid pc/console I was speaking about.
I want to be more clear so you and other will understand better my point of view.
the scenario is this:
1)
MS is shifting Xbox to a "service".
This is a fact.
Gamepass concept is the base of their new vision.
2)
Hardware wise they are no more capable to innovate, the struggle with Kinectic and its "death" is a fact.
Only they can do is adding some ram or cpu on what sony offers, and still losing on selling point.
3)
Valve walled garden and EA, Ubisoft ect walled gardens on pc side are making them not relevant anymore, and their online shop was and is a disaster.
4)
Only advantage point on pc market is still their OS, but linux will catch them soon or after is only a matter of time.
Valve "failed" with SteamOs but their linux support is strong.
In my opnion better to be the leader of a new market than the "forever second" of a saturated market.
On console market if not Sony then is Nintendo.
On pc market if not Valve then is EA.
Yes ,on a money point of view who cares? MS is making a lot of money, Nadella is a great CEO no one can deny, but they are not able to follow the others in the long run.
example VR, their AR/VR solution is still a proof of concept while Valve is working with HTC, LG and others, and Google is warking with Samsung Huawei and others.
they MUST do the same or they will be alone, and being alone in this period is not a nice thing.
Still we will see what of this rumour is true or not very soon.
But the nice thing is that they are moving to find support with others, they are trying to open a bit .
so to come to my idea:
"PCX"
is the next generation of Xbox.
MS will not produce the hardware.
OEMs will produce the hardware.
OS will be a Win11 with a kernel modified to have gaming performance.
MS will give the reference hardware specs.
More target prices at launch.(casual/family, pro gamers)
Each 2 year the reference hardware could be improved following the CPUs and GPUs evolution.
OEM could be selected ones or open to all of them.
PCX can be used as a normal desktop pc (dual boot can be enabled)
Main store will be MS one(first party and selected exclusives) , but other stores can make their own app and sell their games (optmized xbox ones will share a royalty to MS)
PCX also could be the "twin" of a XBOX2, no need to make the switching in one generation in reality.
We had many examples in the past of these concepts, third party hardware producers in console market were a thing and could return.
I think that could fit well the american vision of videogame market countering the japanese vision (nintendo sony)So...this essentially boils down to a super-powered 3DO system that can play PC games, right?
There is no reason that a MS handheld wouldn't be able to play all games that the Xbox One can run. All of their software runs on an OS, nothing is coded to metal. A 5nm AMD APU could easily match the Xbox Ones performance.
You won't need to rebuy the games, everything you own on Xbox store will be there for you ready to play on the go. Make it a smartphone with slide out controls and the thing would sell gangbusters.
Oh yeah they'd definitely be able to ship a handheld that surpasses the switch. But not a lot of the games and really probably a handful would be fun on a handheld system.

But what if it was just a portable Xbox. Players all the games you buy on x1 or 2 or 360 and puts them in portable form and you can play them in 1080 p with a 6 to 8 hour battery life. It's not met to have exclusive games. Literally just a portable xbox
No I don't mean it to have exclusive games, like I really don't see me playing most xbox games on a portable device.
Yes that's what I mean. I don't really see myself playing those games on a portable Xbox.So games like Doom, Skyrim , Rocket League, Fifa, Wolf and 90% of games released? Is that what you mean?

I play almost all those games on the Switch and love them, except Wolf which I have preordered. I'm assuming that was the point you were making.
Yes an Xboy that plays every Xbox One and BC 360 game that you own will sell quite well.
