Days Gone |Review Thread|

hahahahhahahaha....this made my day! How have I never seen this before? Funniest gif period. Ever.

I really hate the likes of kotaku feeling they can take swipes at smaller devs. If this was a bigger studio they'd not be so disrespectful. In that sense they're like a middle tier nerdy bully, picking on those who cant fight back.

What are You talking about? the folks over Kotaku really like indies...

What was the contest of this? Was this like the Win95 launch of something?
I have no idea, but Bill Gates looking for queues to celebrate the entire time is frickin classic.

Isn't that one guys who was all like "Developers, developers, developers, developers.......DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS...."

Edit: OMG I die now.....hahahahhahaaa

I believe so.

Awaiting damage control. Many reviews out there stating about the same. Played it today, glad i didnt buy it.

Posted in the wrong topic it seemed. Moved it here, then.

This thing is all over the place.

The Verdict - 5/5
Reviewed on PlayStation 4
Days Gone is the open-world zombie adventure game we've all been waiting for. Superb zombie-slaying combat and enjoyable motorcycle gameplay are integrated perfectly with a well-paced story. But the game's major highlights are the terrifying zombie hordes which are unlike anything seen in a videogame so far.

The Good
  • Amazing graphics across a breath-taking open world
  • Zombie hordes look amazing and are horrifying to take on
  • Motorcycle gameplay adds a lot
  • Excellent central performance from Sam Witwer
The Bad
  • There are stronger post-apocalyptic narratives out there

If Gamespot gave this game 5/10 imagine what the score EDGE gonna give?

Red Dead Redemption 2 - 10
Days Gone - 2 no a 0 because we took two points off because you have slow mo (dead eye) gun play while on the bike and its not original, irony will be lost on the reviewer.

For the record, RDR2 is still pretty cool, and I am glad I played it but nothing to me that really the first one didn't do better with game play.

5/5 well it's not over yet folks!

Haha, I don't know about that. This one is all over the place, one person cuts it down for a reason... than another one comes around and says that its good for reason the other person said it made it a con.

The reviews are really not that bad, just the usual suspects pushing a narrative.

Anybody else feel like if the protag wasn't a white guy the game would've done better?

It wouldn't sell more but the score from some reviewers with an agenda would be better. I'm reading a lot of comments online how the protagonist is a generic "white male" so they don't care about him. Another reason to ignore the gaming media.

Lots of people said in the other Days Gone thread how unsurprising the score is. I'm very surprised!

One thing is mainstream media giving ridiculous scores to gameplay focused AA games. They always have a hard time to get games like God Hand, Wonderful 101 and the like. Games with deep mechanics which don't have graphical polish nor complex narratives.

Another thing is giving bad scores to AAA games without microtransactions. Days Gone has almost everything that is hot these days. Cinematic narrative, open world with lots of outposts to unlock, zombies, and has enough graphical polish to earn the AAA tittle. These kinds of games rarely are given a lesser score than an 8.

Grabbed the collectors edition and can't wait to hop into this world!

Games that score like these are usually pretty good! Pretty sure whatever's wrong with the game could get patched right?

Amazon is messing with me! I received a shipping confirmation so I ran to the post office after work thinking I got Days Gone early and it was a bottle of olive oil 🤬 So pissed!

It's basically The Saboteur of this generation: a charming, ambitious game that takes too much inspiration from much better games.

I don't know, to this day I haven't played something quite like The Saboteur. Gameplay-wise it did borrow a lot but I feel they did something pretty unique with the presentation.

From the earlier thread. Some game activists reviewers 2019.

Hmmm yeah all of what I did expect of these people. Lying packs of shit^^

Another example why this game got bad ratings

Yeah I wonder where this comes from. Mabye from the TV series that this game was highly inspired by

Such an obnoxious soyboy, 10 bucks say "he" has an account on era maybe even mod

They are all going on about that out-of-context line calling it "white trash" because they didn't get the reference and also Patrick Klepek is in the thread, he compared a mission to slavery or some shit. Insane people.

From the earlier thread.
Of course those "people" would get upset by that. If was two dudes getting married though these "people" would be celebrating.
I'm 100% getting this game now. I knew I was right about the reviews. Game is too 'straight' and 'heteronormative' for these "people".

I love this type of human interaction. :messenger_tears_of_joy: Looks like some of the people that played the whole game are calling out the people that didn't.

For the record, I thought RDR2 was way too slow at the beginning, I kept with it. I think its good but if I stopped at 25% I probably wouldn't have said that, and I almost did quit. I'm not one to argue about scores but these reviews are all over the map.

Ill get this for sure on some sale. I think peoole are overreacting a bit, since when is a 7, a bad game? It means its a pretty ok game, problem is i dont have time for OK games considering how many AAA are coming out. Im sure with a few patches this could of been an easy 8.

Some IGN review quotes.

What kinda biker, drives around super-carefully, anyway?

FFS, wow! I am sorry but that is some Bay Area sounding derpy shit.

Someone in a post apocalyptic world who does not want to risk injury in a land full of horded flesh eating Freakers? No, no, logic escapes me.

They should name and shame if true. That is unacceptable.

the bad reviews/reactions are probably due the game not being woke enough. 😂

It seems reviewers didn't show the same integrity that they do when it came to more popular titles, regardless of platform. Suspiciously delicious, I must say :messenger_savoring:

Critically Acclaimed* Days Gone Out Now for $59.99 in local GameStop stores near you.

I too think games are bad because the braindead reviewers told me so.

No, actually I hate the game since his Teaser came out at E3.

You can check my previous posts, I have never praised this game precisely because of the repetitiveness and being a bad clone of The last of us.

Even the "Freakers" are extremely repetitive.

actually I am an enemy of video game´s journalist, reviews and youtuber analysts.

If "too repetitive" is a legit complaint then that must mean the gameplay itself is bland
I can't tell, many love the ubisoft games, and I find them too repetitive (boring as hell)... yet they get great scores.
True true. Sometimes I feel like critics won't say anything bad about rockstar, disney, and nintendo though.
Well Disney gets blamed for their princess stories all the time. Nothing has stuck on Nintendo as far as I know, same goes for Rockstar, well the GTA series made serious waves for its violence early on, and wasn't there some scandal about a mod (called hot cofee) that offered explicit content, which can't be the fault of the studio.

Exactly what i thought... i refuse to pay $60 for a game with score less than 85. I was waiting for the review to preorder the game. Now i will wait to get it cheaper.

Putting that kind of weight behind meta scores seems silly to me, some of my favorite games of all time are in the 70s and some of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever played are in the 90s.

You do you though.

Those low end scores are way too low to be trustworthy considering how high the scores are on the other end. Well that and the supposed SJW reviewers. Still gonna wait for the bugs to be ironed out before buying however.

Xbox exclusive scores average = 'Worst game eva', ;'lolz Xbox', 'Xbox still has no games lol'

Playstation exclusive scores average = 'Who listens to reviews anyway lol', 'Stupid reviewers played the unpatched game', 'Did the reviewers even play the game?, i dont think they did'.

Never change Gaf, never change.

Still butthurt about crackdown 3?

Some IGN review quotes.
Did they edit the review? Those specific quotes aren't there anymore.

Deacon can also unlock a focused shot ability from his skill tree early on in the game, which allows him to slow down time in battle. It's a somewhat inexplicable skill for a regular guy (that he served in the military is the somewhat shaky rationale), but it's nice to have a way to relieve the pressure for a moment if you get overwhelmed.

There's something ill-fitting about requiring a badass biker with a sweet bike to ride slowly and carefully to avoid scratching the paint.

lol

I actually think the scores do matter, you're not going to see me argue about The Order, and I actually think Horizon was slightly overrated. All I'm saying some of this isn't quite lining up on this one.
