Are you making these numbers up? I can't remember Sony ever saying Spider-Man and TLOU sold more than 20 mln.

I'm not accepting "it has to/must be" as an answer if we are talking facts here.

Spider-Man was at 13 mln copies sold last August, where are those 7+ mln coming from when games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash are constantly above that game in pretty much all charts every month?

Besides that Switch will be only 3 years old next month and you have Mario Kart 8 dx with 23 mln copies sold in that time frame, while TLOU is 7 years old now.

So i don't think Sony tiered Nintendo, attach rate for those Sony exclusives is still pretty low. But honestly it kinda makes sense that way, you buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games first and foremost (then of course you buy indie and third party games too), while with PS4 many people buy the console for FIFA and COD.

Is this a joke thread? Or are we secretly keeping track of the users that selected Microsoft for some sort of retard registry? MS output this gen has been terrible. Forza is great but that's about it. Gears is in a really weird place,Halo 5 was TERRIBLE, and it took 4 years for MCC to be acceptable.

Bad lists aside, I do hope the new studios MS bought help them spice up their gaming roster a bit. As someone who doesn't like racing games and thinks the Gears and Halo franchises have basically already scraped the bottom of the mediocrity barrel, there's just nothing going on.

People shit on Sea of Thieves, but that game is actually pretty cool. It launched in a barebones state and turned people off, but it's a creative depature from the typical boring Xbox shit that everyone is tired of already. Let's get more shit like that and less like Recore or some duct-taped pieces of code with the name Crackdown slapped on the box.

Sea of Thieves has been enjoying better long-term success and has a far more dedicated playerbase than Halo 5. I would consider it a success overall at this point.

I'd be pretty optimistic about Ms' next gen efforts. Although most exclusives between the two hardware manufacturers are interchangeable for the most part. It's the gems like Bloodborne that make it harder to choose... but then again From Software will make another 8 games like it over the next 5 years.

Nintendo beat the brakes off both of them but out of those two, Microsoft. Gears 5 campaign was more adrenaline pumping than anything Sony did. Art direction wise, Ori was better than anything Sony made.

Bloodborne's the best of Sony's lineup but it ran like garbage.

Unless you are a massive xbox fanboy, there's no way someone would say that Microsoft had the best exclusives.
Sony beat them and that's a fact, and even the Switch, wich has been released only 3 years ago, already surpassed microsoft in that aspect, not only in quality but quantity too.

For me it both Nintendo and Sony, they give me most games I enjoyed.

But this Voost thread, he has its own little weird agenda going on.
 
I only play action and adventure games so sports and racers and all the rest of that crap I immediately disregard. By that criteria, MS's best first party effort was Gears 5 which was a middling game at best. It didn't know whether it wanted to be a big open world adventure or a linear corridor shooter, straddled the line between both at times and as a result failed at both. Comparatively, Days Gone was Sony's worst third person adventure game, I only played four hours of it so far and it already is much better then Gears 5.

Winner - Sony.
 
halo and gears are my favourite franchises but I vote Sony.
They dominated this generation by a large margin.
Can't wait for next gen, it will be decisive for Microsoft.
Either they truly react as promised or sink forever.

I vote Sony and I haven't even played the PS4. I have an X1 and I don't remember the last time an exclusive game got into my rotation; most of the Microsoft exclusives were trash this gen, including Halo.

The majority of Sony's 3rd person games are different though. Spider-man isn't similar to Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Zero Dawn isn't similar to TLOU which isn't similar to Infamous Second Son

Yet he also listed all the forza horizons but not Spider-man which, like the horizon games was developed by a 3rd party studio that subsequently became 1st party. It was pretty much one of the least consistent lists ever generated for such a question. I mean, kinect sports rivals and project spark don't even meet the conditions he set in the thread's title FFS. Sony wiped the floor with M$ this gen in the 1st party exclusive department. Anyone whose arguement is that sony's games are boring walking simulators needs to take a look at how M$'s 1st party is primarily boring driving simulators. At least in those "walking simulators" there are many instances of action oriented gameplay, but anyone who doesn't think racing is fun will not find anything interesting when popping forza in...

I know it's improving but they just can't accept the fact that Xbox has never really had a first party "library", until maybe now.
 
Microsoft really neglected their 1st party line up this gen. Sony is far ahead here, but I think Nintendo is ahead of both.

Forza Horizon 4 would count, though. Microsoft bought Playground Games in June 2018, FH4 came out in September 2018.

I'm with ya on that, Spider-man and Ratchet should be on this list and Forza 7 for Xbox. PS definitely has the more favorable library overall

The only PS4 games you can call movie games (you'd still be wrong but it fits your narrative better) are Detroit Become Human and Until Dawn

Both are great btw
 
I dont get those lists. Kinect Sports makes the list but Killer Instinct doesnt?. Seems to be ommissions on both sides.
Anyway out of those games on the list, it has to be Sony. Incluiding ommissions from both sides, still Sony.

I was really disappointed by what I played from Microsoft this generation. Even Halo was a letdown. Plus no Fable. Sony consistently knocked it out of the park with stuff like Bloodborne and there are still killer exclusives coming right at the end of the generation.

It sounds mean, but it's true: it was never even close.
