So this sort of begs the question...are we also getting an enthusiast development kit again - like Net Yaroze, PS2 Linux and PS3 OtherOS ?
Surely, like the need for OtherOS and PS2 Linux, if the hardware opens up a change in how things can be done, then equipment availability beyond official devkits is essential to let the world learn. And specifically for Epic, they will be releasing Engine tech in nanite/lumens that requires the developer to be a PS5 developer with a devkit to see working at full fidelity making its own store offering of the tech inferior to PS5, which sort of leads to thinking that Sony, AMD and Epic have a solution to that problem arriving in parallel to PS5 and UE5.
If Sony released the devkit patented unit in the PC space at £900 - without the ability to play PS5 games - would it be a disruptive box if it ran windows or Linux with Epic's store preinstalled?
