Brad Sams: Pre-COVID Series X Would've Launched in August, Lockhart in October.

Initially, the console was going to be announced in June but the latest reports say August, but I can’t independently verify that yet. Here’s a fun fact though, the original launch plans for Lockhart was that it was going to be released in Mid-October. That may not sound all that surprising, but Anaconda, the series X, was going to release in late August; clearly plans have been adjusted since the conception of the hardware.

Also this about the console design:
Why? One thing that Microsoft mandates is when they let employees/third-parties travel with the hardware, they ask them to disguise the product. This is a standard practice in the industry but for the Anaconda, Microsoft recommended employees put the hardware in a PC tower, subwoofer, or something else that is quite large. For Lockhart, Microsoft has said that the hardware should be disguised by using Durango or Scorpio covers which means the device is not the same shape as the series X.

..but cry so much I wish I had some
I’d be happy if in their July event they announce it’ll be available end of August and is available to preorder right away, although I doubt this will happen. But seeing how many cellphones Apple manages to sell ahead of release I think it’d be doable.

I kinda believe it

The Switch was revealed and six months later was launched, and the 360 was one year ahead from everyone. Could be a nice bold move.

Why I'm not 100% sure of that? Are the games already done!? I don't think so. Xbox needs not just a new Halo, but the new Halo

Considering how far the series x hardware was earlier this year a few of us speculated at a September launch timeline until covid hit. Now with software development delays and im sure supply chain challenges pushed it back to November.

It means he only haS one source of the info.

Exactly, he can not corroborate it. That's the point. A bird told him. He read it on Twitter (someone maybe too?) or it was his conception.

Again coming from someone who's career is mere months old (not around during X360 days) .. wonder why there are no Sony PR fellas on YouTube "shilling".

Is August “Holidays 2020” 🤔?
Well September is labor day in the us! Microsoft has had working take home units since what February and that extremely early visit by digital foundry. I think the hardware was easily on track for a September release before covid-19 put plans back. The series x was way a head of any November hardware launch i can remember. I think a September launch would of been perfect to get the limelight to themselves for a few months.

Yep. August makes sense.
Nicely said.

Looks like Brad Sams is having trouble coming up with material, and needs click bait opinions to pay for that giant headset and microphone he uses to cover video games.

I call bullshit on this. I used to work for MS (Finance) and have buddies in the XBOX division. And as of February time frame they were targeting mid fall.

and basic common sense tells you no also.

None of the big games would be ready for that kind of a release. that includes both first and third party.

Would've been great if the release date was so soon. How much could it have been postponed now?

There would have been no “series X“ games in August.

This rumor doesn’t make much sense. Maybe an early limited release for insiders or something, but I can’t see a full retail launch.

I knew it.
Microsoft is really trying to "win" this generation.
And having a 5 months Head Start is enormous.

Right now I still believe we'll see a September release for Series X and Lockhart will release in November just right around the Holiday shopping period.

Why wouldn't there be any series x games in August? If they were really planning to do this# don't you think Forza and Halo would've been available?

The XSX was already finished at the end of last year. Spencer had the console at home running and gaming on it. They already sold off Xbox One X consoles.

There are only marketing and game development reasons to wait for a holiday launch. I would welcome a launch in august, but who knows if they have problems with production.

But an early release means nothing without the games.

They were trying to get the jump on Sony or at least stop Sony getting the jump on them.

If Sony always planned a holiday launch this would have been a big early win for MS.

Win how? If they don't have the software as rumored for nov how in the world would they have had it for August? Launch a new console with no games? Hows that remotely a win let alone a big one.

They might have been, but neither have ever released in Aug. Late Sept is really the earliest I would expect either of those games.

If anything COVID should have helped them push up summer plans, as people have nowhere to go and nothing to do this year for summer vacation.

The 360 launched with very few games in 2005. It would allow them to build up a lead of a few million then build momentum into the holidays.
