That's how it was in the studios I've worked for in the past, so I assumed it was just standard. Whatever platform is the most stable and the easiest to distribute to reviewers and influencers.

Yeah, I don't think it's corrupt at all. Even the whole stock footage on early reviews thing. I mean, is it odd? Totally! But I don't think you can blame a developer/publisher not wanting to have the public see bugs and issues that they're expecting to have patched out on launch day. I mean, the hype behind it is surreal and they don't want to disappoint anyone, or look bad I'm sure. Especially when they're bugs and issues the public isn't even supposed to see period. We still would've heard about bugs from outlets, sure. Still would've seen SOME footage as well, sure. But it wouldn't have been nearly as bad as it's gotten because folks got copies earlier than intended.

Will the patches fix a ton? Hopefully. Could still very well be some bugs, I mean it's a CDPR game, and it's open-world. Pretty standard. Just sad to see so many people skirting or ignoring the positive sentiments and absorbing all the bug related videos and gifs that may not even be present after the patch.

I'm not giving bugs a pass by any means, but if work is clearly being done, then at least there's that. This game had been postponed for too long, those partners were surely over it so another delay didn't seem feasible.

If Sony explicitly restricted reviewers from reviewing the PS4 versions, then yeah thats fucked up too and no one should defend that. 🤷‍♂️
 
As someone who has been ridiculously excited for Cyberpunk 2077... I'm gonna pass for now. I really dislike buggy experiences. We all knew this game was coming in hot.

I just bought Witcher 3 GOTY on GOG for $15. I'm going to play this game in the meantime. I played it at launch but never got too far into it. Seems like a great time to give it another go.
 
So I started up playing....and well it does not really look good. Like let's say passable 2017 game, when X1X came out. I would say that Witcher 3 looks considerable better. I think the closest thing which is to this is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and that looked better. Also why I am mentioning Deus Ex, fine people of that Polish company who is responsible for those Czech voices in MD (and that's not localisation everyone got them) is also responsible for translation to Czech for this game and it's nothing short of terrible. Formal language with some sort of edgy/folk version of the words, mixing relentlessly formal/non-formal speech and yeah, I quickly switched to full English.

Here are screens, pretty terrible, if you ask me.

I wouldn't worry. I assume vast majority of us are running it without issues. There's always a small minority of people who have issues. Sometimes the install doesn't go well. I haven't had driver issues in over 10 years. This isn't as common as the days where you NEEDED DDU. And I rarely ever need to do clean install.

Think today is the first rendered penis (in 4K) that I've ever seen on a console, just wobbling about.

Never thought this would happen back in the days I was booting up Tekken 2 on the PS1

Your screens look really good, despite looking REALLY compressed

I doubt that this is direct feed, 'cause even the HUD and etc is low resolution and almost unreadable

That's why then, it's not gonna be ideal for anyone on a last gen console as you're limited by netbook CPUs and HDDs.

Does the performance affect the framerate? Unlock it?

Look at the subtitles around the screen, those are fully sharp. So not it's not compression. You should probably get some, it really does not look good in any stretch of imagination.

Sadly not yet. But it's like overly plasticy or how else to put it, everything looks as if it would have a matte finish.

I think the Xbox Series X looks good considering it's running a last gen port of a game that arguably should be Next Gen/PC only.

Errr.. the cost of the game is not the point. The point is to get time to review the game before it's out, so they'd need a review code.

But yes, the review industry sucks.. for many reasons.. one of those reasons being the rush to review stuff.
 
Another game ready driver? Damn I'm "working" right now (ah, working from home...), but I guess I can update. Hopefully it doesn't make my WVD session crash like it did yesterday .....

Damn that looks good. I bought a digital copy because I'm an impatient fool and wanted to play a day early, but I'm glad I still kept my CE pre order. Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.
 
This is an exceptionally rare full price purchase for me - still don't think I'll play it just yet, wait for another patch or two, but work like this should be supported, and I paid almost nothing for Witcher 3 and played that for so many hours that I almost feel like I owe them :messenger_tears_of_joy: Bought the Xbox version (and the punch card took me over the top of being able to get the $100 MS gift card)

There is nothing wrong with crowd density on Series X during the day. Lots of NPCs around.

Am I the only one that thinks the game still looks great in these stills captured on console? Yeah the resolution isn't the crispiest thing ever but the artstyle is outstanding.

If you've got no interest in open world games and know it's not going to be your thing, what's making you want to buy? Genuine question, I'm not sniping at you. For me it's the world - it looks so atmospheric.
