That just means it doesn't work with the PS+ version, with the disc you'll be fine.

Your Plus version should be separate from your disc copy.

Hopefully you'll be able to upgrade. Should be.

If you really have to, just make a second PSN account and upgrade from your disc. Won't be affected by any of your Plus stuff.

You'll have to put the disc in to play it but other than that, you'll get the $10 upgrade.

Looks great.

John says he's noticed a few minor visual improvements in both games. Main improvement is higher LODs and better draw distances in all modes. Less pop in. Game also has slightly higher contrast. And a few other minor improvements. Slightly better textures here and there. Better motion blur. Locked 30 and 60 Hz modes in both games, but the 120 modes have some dips in heavy moments.

And much better loading. From 48 seconds on PS4 to just 2 seconds on PS5.

Pretty sure even tho most TVs support 50 Hz video signals, and its fine for passive content, it would still feel bad playing games at 50 FPS on a TV with a fixed 60 or 120 Hz refresh rate.

Maybe it's not universal, but panels certainly aren't fixed to 120hz. Can switch to 24 for example for film content. In pal regions, TV's often switch to 50hz for tv broadcasts etc. but retain 60/120 for everything else.

People why buy it. I have nothing against to pay a graphic upgrade but fuck this, it's not absolutely worthy. At least Tsushima had a dlc campaign. Why I can't play at 60 FPS for free when already I have both Uncharted, can't care to the other modes.

Well, yes this feels a bit disappointing, but just check the math at first (like xbox series x upgrades, too).
The game was 1440p on PS4 Pro so doubling pixel-count (yes I know it is not exactly doubling but just assume it for the sake of simplicity) would already consume 2x PS4 Pro worth of power. But the PS5 just has 2.x times the power of the PS4 Pro (but not 2.x times the bandwidth), so this already limits what can be done. 4k 60 is just not achievable this way (by brute force). So the logic conclusion would be to make it either work with a 4k30, 1440p60 (also 2x the power needed) or 1080p120. It all comes down to the same GPU requirements. Only the CPU scales quite good here. After all the CPU makes 4x the work the old jaguar cores had to do at least in the 120fps mode.

The real "problem" for this disappointing step up is the mid-gen refresh consoles. Those make the endresults look worse than they really are. Just don't expect 4k60 from the current gen for everything, it just doesn't work. The new consoles are just not fast enough for this. Even with checkerboard/TAA you have to sacrifice something in order to get there (like always).

Normally every HDTV+ should support 50Hz. The 60/50Hz thing is just and old thing haunting us from the past. 50Hz should look really great if the game also outputs 50fps. The problem old PAL games had that they outputted at 25fps ... which was not great.

You're working from the wrong base. The relevant comparison is PS5 vs PS4, not the PS4 Pro, because the game was designed to push the normal console.

Yes, but 4K@60 fps is not twice as many pixels as 1440p@30fps, it's in fact more than x4. And PS5 is not more than 4 times more powerful than Pro. That is before we factor in the visual improvements to LOD, shadows, textures, etc...

Can't say for GPU, but CPU between PRO and PS5 are galaxies ahead.

I think it depends on the game, or what the specific bottleneck might be. We've seen SOME games on PS5 that have x4 the resolution of Pro (Guilty Gear Strive for instance is 864p on base PS4, 1080p on Pro and native 4K on PS5), but yes, those are the exception I think and we can't expect every game to be 4 times the number of pixels of the Pro version, since as you said PS5 is not 4 times more powerful nor does it have 4 times the bandwidth.

TLOU2 is 1080p on base PS4 but it doesn't use CB on Pro (no ND game does), it's native 1440p. ND and Insomniac are two SONY first party that has never used CB so far. Insomniac has its own reconstruction technique (Temporal Injection, which looks very good) and ND doesn't even use any kind of reconstruction, they rely on native resolution and their very good TAA solution to provide a nice image quality.

If you would also double the framerate you would automatically double the stress for the GPU (and CPU). So now you would be in a 14TF area you need to get 4k60 with a brute force port (without any enhancements).
The bandwidth is also get into your way as this did not increase in that way.

Would 4k60 be doable with the rewriting and redesigning the whole game without the loss of image quality? probably by using newer features etc but that would be much, much more work.

Yeah I'm not saying it should be 4k60 cos that's been pretty rare so far (maybe only Death Stranding?) but was just pushing back on this idea that we should be happy with 1440p60. I'm not really sure why something like 1800p shouldn't have been possible.

I think EU TVs (and the actual panels) can always switch between 60/50 or 120/100, to support the 50hz broadcasts we're somehow still living with. But I don't believe this is common on American TVs, because they have no use for it.

I know Im likely in the minority on this, but 60fps looks weird to me for this style of game.
