That is because the game is multiplatform and on top of that it performs better on Xbox, otherwise it would be considered the second coming of Christ, that is how Sony warriors operate, and what happens with every single exclusive first party or money hated, that is how things work.![]()
But I guess better to be a warrior than legally blind.

I wish this was the case. I remember myself in 2004: "Holy shit, this runs like crap! And MGS2 was so smooth..."

We grew up on 15-20fps in the early 3D game phase. We loved it. We're back baby lolPlaying MGS3 via the Bluepoint Collection was a revelation back in the day, a 4X performance boost in cases like the quoted picture.
It was very technically ambitious for the PS2 and the performance clearly suffered for it.
I mean it runs awful on all console but sure celebrate 3/5 fps of advantage in some spots shows how superior MS warriors operate. In any case UE5 at 60 fps from my memory always show such kind of advantage on series X, most of the times, isn't it exactly a trend of the last period. That is because the game is multiplatform and on top of that it performs better on Xbox, otherwise it would be considered the second coming of Christ, that is how Sony warriors operate, and what happens with every single exclusive first party or money hated, that is how things work.
Have you actually played it?I mean it runs awful on all console but sure celebrate 3/5 fps of advantage in some spots shows how superior MS warriors operate.

PS5 PRO. Disabling the VRR system is a little better but fps is broken when the guard alert is activated. Doubt on xbox there isn't such issue.Have you actually played it?
And you are not supposed to be a warrior look at the member war to defend your precious piece of plastic. Lol. Yeah post a lol reaction mistic guardian of the xbox console perfomance.Probably not, but he was quick to make a topic about it from a banned source cause it showed the PS5 in a more positive light.

I beat the game today and I have no earthy idea what you mean by broken fps. The performance takes a hit in a few areas, or when the action heats up, sure. Most of the time the game runs fine. I'm sure it's similar on the other consoles.PS5 PRO. Disabling the VRR system is a little better but fps is broken when the guard alert is activated. Doubt on xbox there isn't such issue.
Is this a serious question?
Genuinely wish it wasn't. I would 100% buy one.PS5 Pro is wank
What happens with the HDR?HDR on the other hand they need to fix!
its just 4x more frames. the resolution was 720p which itself is like 4x more pixels.Playing MGS3 via the Bluepoint Collection was a revelation back in the day, a 4X performance boost in cases like the quoted picture.

Yup. N64 fog and shit fps. And I didn't complain then. I wish we'd go back to everything trying to push better visuals at a stable 30fps. Fuck options. My thought process is the best.We grew up on 15-20fps in the early 3D game phase. We loved it. We're back baby loljk
I also Loved the texture warping phase on PS1. Man. It was amazing. I mean ItYup. N64 fog and shit fps. And I didn't complain then. I wish we'd go back to everything trying to push better visuals at a stable 30fps. Fuck options. My thought process is the best.

the difference is likely 16x. 4x more pixels being rendered for 4x the frames.
these are not the same devs. this is done by an internal team at Konami with ex-MGS3 devs who just never went to kojima's new studio after his departure. How the hell is the PS5 Pro not running a solid framerate with hardware lumen in this game...what a terrible port on consoles. These are the same devs as Oblivion remastered, right? That would make a lot of sense.
UE5 wouldve been to blame some time last year. But they have fixed the CPU issues back in April of 2024. almost a year and a half later, no game should be getting released on UE5.4, especially one with cpu related drops like this one. What a joke is to overload a futuristic CPU with logic from 20 years ago. UE5 can't die soon enough.
"ALARM!"
PS2: "Ok, I can handle this…"

Dont forget the image quality. It was atrocious. Pixel crawling everywhere. jaggies galore. We were all collectively A-OK with the teenage PS2 frame-rates back in the day, lol.

the reason why the game doesnt have a solid framerate is due to the game being CPU bound at times, and the game being built on UE5.3 which does not have the CPU enhancements of UE5.4 which came out in April of last year. Expedition 33 and Mafia devs were able to switch to that engine. But Oblivion, Avowed, and now MGS3 devs did not.
i am running the game with hardware lumen on PC right now and have zero issues with the CPU. The game is definitely heavy on the GPU but those drops you are seeing during explosions and midfights are definitely CPU related.

i love the visuals even though they are really heavy even on expensive GPUs, but the CPU issues are on the devs and devs alone.

Runs fine for me on my peasant PS5. But I'm not studying and analyzing every frame either. How can you be bickering about a game that was obviously coded by crackheads.
It's not a "win" for any, it's a "loose" for all consoles on this port.
So why isn't there a quality mode with hardware lumen and decent res? It seems to be running software lumen and still dropping to the 30s on the pro. Let's be objective here, it's a pretty bad port, especially on the pro.these are not the same devs. this is done by an internal team at Konami with ex-MGS3 devs who just never went to kojima's new studio after his departure.

I have one. Why people you always using the worst case to judge the ps5 pro perfomance it's something I never get it. And just to say the pro version of this game runs at the quality setting of the base hardware. So call marginally improved...but sure.Genuinely wish it wasn't. I would 100% buy one.
There's simply no need. It's marginally better at BEST. Which sucks for me.
Listen and you the other one are the less entitled to call the others warrior. You never missed the chance to beat in the face some kinda of series X advantages even for 3/5 fps in some spots and call it as a sort of incredible hardware enhancement. Like come on, and you are not warriors? Lol.It's crazy to me how sony warriors are so quick to call others shills. Fanboys. Warriors etc and they are easily on par with any other fanboy.
Must be delusional or something. Who knows.
forget about it. none of the older games on UE5.1 like wukong, avowed, or sh2 or stalker have received a patch. stalker devs did say recently that they will upgrade it in the next few months but thats an exception. And that game was so CPU bound it was running at like 0 cpu in some towns with NPCs.Is it possible that a patch can fix this or forget about it?
It's no where close to justify me spending $800 vs my base consoleI have one. Why people you always using the worst case to judge the ps5 pro perfomance it's something I never get it. Even the best CPUs on PCs were dropping frames from 120 fps to 40 fps. And this was after they had already cut down their A-Life system. my guess is that they are adding back the A-Life 2.0 system and they had no choice but to upgrade the system.
MGS3 is on UE5.3 which does have some enhancements like nanite support for foliage, landscapes, tessellation, better volumetrics, all of which are supposed to improve performance on the GPU but the CPU cost is still there and likely higher. Epic shouldve fixed the CPU bottlenecks first then focus on adding nanite foliage, landscape and other features.
Dont forget the image quality. It was atrocious. Pixel crawling everywhere. jaggies galore.
But we all put up with it because we wanted games to push the bar. We wanted to be wow'd by amazing stuff instead of playing mediocre safe risk averse sequels at 4k 60 fps. Did people bitch about sotc running at 15 fps during most boss fights? of course. but no one had it cancelled on social media or i guess forums back then or in the reviews, print or video. San Andreas consistently ran at 20 fps when traversing the city. Literally the biggest game of the generation. People looked at GTA3 and realized that rockstar was literally giving us a generational leap in scale and understood that it comes at a cost.
Now? No one wants to understand everything, and everyone just has an agenda against UE5, or devs who value fidelity over some drops in performance. Even if most of the times the game runs at 60 fps. Something that wasnt standard on consoles until 2020.
I can understood it. But there are port legitemelly far superior than the base ps5; but I know the price is a big factor also and can be considered not worth it. I just think call a marginal improved all the games on ps5 pro is not fair at all, price aside. It's no where close to justify me spending $800 vs my base console
Not even ALMOST. Not just by this game. But just overall. In my opinion anyhow.
I'll trade you my slim for your pro. DM me and let's make it happen. ThanksI can understood it. But there are port legitemelly far superior than the base ps5; but I know the price is a big factor also and can be considered not worth it. I just think it's quite different call a marginal improved.
dont listen to df. the drops to 30 fps are rare, happen during explosions for a split second and are CPU related. I am not getting them on PC and not just because i have an amazing GPU now, but because my cpu was always better than the zen 2 CPU Cerny retardedly decided not to upgrade in the Pro.So why isn't there a quality mode with hardware lumen and decent res? But then, how are you having fun with it?Runs fine for me on my peasant PS5. But I'm not studying and analyzing every frame either.
Unfortunately seems the same procedure: port the old engine with UE5 graphic assets update. Probably the reason because runs awful on console. Is this game running Unreal Engine 5 on top of the original engine like with the recent Oblivion Remastered release, which was also by the same developer and just as poorly optimised? Or is this a complete remake that just uses the same motion capture for the cutscenes? I don't think I have read any clarification on this.
Whatever, I personally think that Virtuos need to learn how to optimise Unreal Engine 5 games properly because I personally will be avoiding any games they are involved with going forward. I am just fed up of all these poorly optimised UE5 games that are just as bad on consoles as they are on PC. With consoles having fixed hardware you would think that optimisation would be an easy process; at least PC has the excuse of being a more complex platform to code for in terms of hardware combinations etc etc.
this is not true. The game runs just fine on higher end GPUs. I played it on my 3080 at 4k dlss quality-balanced on high settings easily at 60 fps. Ultra is expensive on the GPU and i wanted to play at the highest settings so i locked it to 30 fps. Now im playing at 4k dlss quality on my 5080 all maxed out at 60 fps with very rare drops below 60 fps. This game looks to have no efficiency/optimization whatsoever across the board, even on high end rigs. When next gen hardware for MS and Sony release, it is very much going to be a, "let's throw more power at the issue to fix our blunder" situation from Konami. It already feels like that's what's happening with the Series X on the frame rate side, where its CPU is doing all of the heavy lifting to net a higher/smoother experience over the other two.
Can't have fun. I'm told it's ass. No fun here. None. zero. But then, how are you having fun with it?
