Its the other way around pal, you only have to be a braindead PlayStation fan with zero critical thinking to approve a scam of this scale.
As for myself, I thank you but I only own a PS5, and go see what I write about Starfield or Redfall for example, I think they look miserable and way behind their respective developer's prime + I think Returnal is the only next gen exclusive game that is really worth it by a wide margin. Still, that's no reason why I should say yes to any shameless cash grab Sony is casually throwing at my face.
You mixing some FMV with GameplayGame looked great on PS3. Best looking game of that entire generation.

But I don't think anyone's saying the PS5 version doesn't look better than the PS3 version. It's just not a 2x generational gap (PS3 to PS5), it's Factionless, and costs more in terms of retail price than the PS3/4 versions.
In my opinion it's indisputable that the PS4 version's cutscenes are better than these real time character model equivalents on PS5. The character models look off in this version.
Overall, I don't see the point in the existence of this game. ND are doing nothing except risking fatigue (TLOU2, TLOU RR and then Factions all within a 2-3 year period).
I know of topic, but wish they would release a 60fps patch on current gen. This one gives me strong Mafia Remake vibes. Just add some color.

That's because not even a decade has passed since original was released VS. 2+ decades in case of Final Fantasy VII or Resident Evil 2. Nobody asked for this remake. The only reason why it exists is the upcoming HBO series. To top it up it's being remade using last gen technology.
In other words: it's a cash grab!
But most of the pictures are from rendered cut-scenes and not realtime. The last one seems to be gameplay and the difference is clear.Game looked great on PS3. Best looking game of that entire generation.
Bigger sandboxy locations maybe. Those are my expectations as well. Although I am curious to know what ND means when they say "enhanced exploration".
You mixing some FMV with Gameplay
Many people forget 90% of cinematics on TLOU1 is full FMV on PS3 and PS4... on TLOUp2 and TLOUp1 they are full real-time rendering
I know, that's why I said; But most of the pictures are from rendered cut-scenes and not realtime. The last one seems to be gameplay and the difference is clear.

"Cash grab" is the new meme in the great console war. For something nobody forces you to buy with a gun to your head. In a corporatized industry under a capitalistic economy, no less. These type of responses are my top 5 most hated viewpoints by the gaming community. It's so ridiculous that it's mindblowing that people like this exist sometimes. It's a freaking remake of a game. They made a better version of one of the best games of that generation. They are selling it soon......BIG DEAL! If this is a cash grab, then practically every remake is a cash grab. Like what the hell are we talking about here?
Do we like games or do we not like games?
It's funny as hell, everyone saying this is PS4 tech, but no other platform has a game that looks better than this one with PS4 tech. lolIt clearly is a remake. A remake of PS3 game made with PS4 technology and released on PS5.
Yes. This is how mad I am right now:

Why are you putting the remake in quotation marks?Sure. We all know you are scared that this "Remake" may sell more than your favorite game this year. Let that fear go.

And it's not like anyone is being forced to buy anything either lmao. It must be 20 bucks because I own and played the last two versions! These type of responses are my top 5 most hated viewpoints by the gaming community. I see. I didn't realize last week that it's a new thing "they" are using nowadays. I've never seen so many people so made at a remake in my life.
Even Sony's own Horizon Forbidden West looks more current gen. And that game is open world with dynamic lighting.
70 bucks for the same game?

Cant w8 to see this on Pc
Ray tracing, 4k, 144 fps, Hdr
Oh my....
I love HFW and it is very accomplished visually but c'mon this is silly. And I wouldn't even expect it to be better fidelity wise since it's open world as you mentioned.
I have my doubts on that since TLOU Remake isn't open world. More linear games tend to have better visuals. If the Remake is built from the ground up it can definitely surpass HFW in terms of visuals. But of course HFW is still extremely impressive especially on PS5.
I feel like the series x and the ps5 are the biggest cashgrabs in gaming history so Nintendo is a saint imho

Not everything, but textures and lighting literally make up 90% of what you see on screen and in FPS games, 100%. Dont care much about detail, MGS2 has more little details than most games released today. Im glad ND puts a lot of care into their art, but we are talking about next gen fidelity here.Human models are way inferior to tlou2x nd the dragon is not even more detailed than the dragon in gow2018, care for details and animations are in another universe entirely.
Enviromental textures and lights are not everything.
They both look great given their different approaches to art direction. Each one is unmatched on other platforms. I don't get the unfounded criticism.Even Sony's own Horizon Forbidden West looks more current gen. And that game is open world with dynamic lighting.
The human models in the hub like the black dude in armour or the lady (or really everyone) are pretty meh if i remember well, especially the faces, the highest definition helps but they are still not what i expect from a full nextgen game. Not everything, but textures and lighting literally make up 90% of what you see on screen and in FPS games, 100%. TLOU2's character models might be more detailed in cutscenes but in gameplay I dont see a big upgrade over what we see in DS. The problem with DS is that they force you to play in non-human form with a stupid white aura around your half invisible character to reduce difficulty and it really hurts the graphics. The gameplay character models (not faces) are very comparable if not better than the TLOU2.

Thats because no matter what Jimbo and Drunckmann claims, this is NOT a PS5 game. It's a PS4 project that was started by a support studio and then taken over by ND because Neil and other ND heads had fucking nothing for them to work on. This was never a PS5 game.Something is off about this project. Naughty Dog, ps5 exclusive and it's not blowing anyone away in fact it looks no better than LoU2. Also? DF counted only 1440p/60

At least it was new cardboardYou mean the same company that sold cardboard for $60? Idk about that, lol.
That was the PS3 version I posted. But yeah, defo buy the PS4 version. Both look great. One looks like a game from last generation and one looks like a game from this generation. Nobody is criticizing anything.
I already explained why some people might have problem with the remake. They want to charge you current-gen price for a last-gen effort.
I couldn't care less. I will still buy it on PC because seeing Sony catalogue in my Steam library gives me an unhealthy satisfaction (plus it will be like ~40 EUR on CDkeys, so why not). Actually, afterBanjo64 posted screens of the PS4 remaster I will also buy that on the PS5 in case Sony gets any stupid ideas to de-list it. Art style on display there is amazing. A+++
It's already been reported that you get controls and movement from TLOU2 and the AI. With the new movement from 2 included (prone etc) they've expanded and altered some environments to accommodate that.If it turns out there are no changes other than aesthetic ones, this cash grab just looks even worse. There has to be significant gameplay improvements and changes to justify this title's existence as anything other than a greed fuelled, cynical exercise in fleecing gullible gamers.
They are in it, the AI from TLOU2 (which is what they're using in this is far superior. Also the movement and control improvements have also been brought over from 2.I mean, I am still getting it but I was hoping for gameplay improvements and if those aren't in it, that's disappointing.
We need a don't believe his lies meme with jimbo face.

Oh no expectations here, but it would've been nice to see it. Still definitely curious. But I never expected to be blown away or something.Completely revamped from tlou1, it is gonna look extremely similar to tlou2, lower your expectations.
It's an TLoU thread. There will always be issues.I feel like all of this would be a non-issue if they had just charged 30 bucks for the new remaster/remake. There was clearly a lot of work put into it, but not to the tune of a next-gen 70 dollar premium. The existence of the game isn't a cash grab per se, but the laughable price point they have chosen is. Just don't buy it at launch and wait for a sale. That's what I'm going to do.
Plus the PC version just might have ray tracing. Returnal's PC port is already adding it. It's possible Nixxes might add ray tracing to TLOU2 remake as well.I couldn't care less. Oh I agree that its not NEXT GEN. Clearly looks inferior to the Matrix. Im just saying in comparison to TLOU2, it looks better thanks to the lighting and textures. The human models in the hub like the black dude in armour or the lady (or really everyone) are pretty meh if i remember well, especially the faces, the highest definition helps but they are still not what i expect from a full nextgen game.
Tbh i wasn't that impressed with demons, it still looked extremely gamey for lack of better words, ratchet and horizon are way more impressive, and morales is not that far.
Tlou2 run on a ps4, the fact that we even have this discussion is pretty telling imo.
That looks much better. the lighting alone gives it much more depth and clarity. Always felt this scene was flat environmentally in the original. Joel's back doesn't look much different to be fair, but what more can you do to improve a tartan shirt?
Add hero lighting. Also use better more detailed textures.Joel's back doesn't look much different to be fair, but what more can you do to improve a tartan shirt?
For me the updated graphics isn't the key selling point here. First and foremost is the gameplay. If ND is truly incorporating TLOU 2 gameplay then that's a major upgrade. ND still needs to flesh that out though. They need to sell us on the enhancements beyond just the graphics. They can price it at $70 if they want but no one has to buy it and I think it could flop if the changes they are incorporating don't measure up.
But I think it is far too premature for anyone to be calling this a "cash grab" when we factually do not know the exact details of what is being enhanced. If it is what I imagine, TLOU 2 gameplay/AI with larger spaces to explore and all the weapon modifications then that will absolutely be worth $70 for me and I don't consider that a "last-gen effort".
We might have different definitions of generations. TLOU 2 is literally a last generation game. If TLOU 1 remake incorporates the same gameplay and AI it makes it a last generation effort.
