You do realise even the minimum requirements PC costs more than a console, right? That's... why people buy consoles?

So will everyone expect this to be open world? I hope we see different styles of games. It could be a more focused experience with no fluff and still be good right? Make every encounter meaningful and furthering story or gameplay, make gameplay engaging and skill based to enable that? I guess it may be less replayable, or rather not replayable but not easy to just jump in to mess around without progressing like all the open world games have a lot of fluff to engage with if you care to. But still. They can find a way I'm sure (that's better than straight up arena/challenge maps a la Batman).

Hope its exactly like The Last of Us Part 2 as far gameplay loop and openness goes. Just let us play in the wilderness of canada, big open zones, where you can stealth people from trees and bushes.

Or just get crazy and jump off peoples heads

MS literally knew the Sony specs in 2018. I wouldnt dismiss this. The Miles team is making this and they started dev in november 2020. By November 2023, it wouldve given them 3 full years to make the game. insomniac doesnt blame covid or inflation or hurricane sandy for delays. they go to work everyday and deliver.

THey couldve mentioned TLOU factions but they chose to mention Wolverine. Interesting.

I use cloud streaming and outside of the occasional lag (every 20 or so minutes) it works pretty well. Not as good as console, but it still good especially the money you can save from not buying a console/hard drives. Not to mention you can play it almost anywhere. I'm sure there are more than 10k gamers enjoying it but once again you are lying :(
No reason to convince you... Everybody (google too lol) knows how bad the situation is. Enjoy playing with lag, bad res and other problems that don't even depend on the service lol Have a good life little honest xbox bot.

Microsoft complaining that Sony making games, WTF. It's like a student complaining about his comrade doing his home work.

"Nintendo is making The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Metroid Prime remaster, Mario Kart 9, we also heard they may be making a new Donkey Kong. So you can see how it makes sense that us buying Activision is only a way to keep up with all the exclusives they make, let us compete"

Microsoft is self deprecating at an embarrassing level to the CMA.

They've taken years of PR and flushed it. They're making out like Sony is a sledgehammer and Microsoft is an ant. Despite being worth 1.979 Trillion.

Truly hilarious.

Google left the market and yet MS, GeoForce, and Amazon continues to invest in cloud gaming.

I could use the same argument when Atari failed and said Nintendo is going to fail too because they are both consoles.

You can comfortably pick up all of those parts listed for less than the aforementioned prices and have change left over. I'll do you one better, how about one that's already put together that is well above minimum spec? :

There are also plenty of people with older PC's/laptops who don't need to spend a thing on hardware to play games like this, that's why PC is the most popular platform in a large number of countries, especially those with lower GDP.

Marketing deal prevents big companies like MS from putting the game on game pass or google from putting on Stadia since it is subscription service.

Darn those pesky Sony marketing deals, poor Stadia never stood a chance:

According to Kotaku's sources, Harrison "pointed specifically to Microsoft's buying spree and planned acquisition of Bethesda Software later this year as one of the factors that had made Google decide to close the book on original game development." Microsoft announced its plans to acquire Zenimax Media and Bethesda Softworks in September 2020, bringing blockbuster franchises such as The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Doom under its wing. It's not entirely clear what the connection between the acquisition and Stadia's decision is, although it could be seen as an inability to compete in the market.

It's like the rich boy whining that he's not allow to buy exams, and want to skip the entire home work/progress process. Whining that he "has to do it and buy those to keep up" cause the results aren't as good as his comrades.

Cool, so with postage that'll be USD$400+. I'll also need a monitor (unless you expect folks to plug their PC into their TVs, which will probably be too high latency), mouse, keyboard, and headset or speakers to play. You have USD$100.00, including postage.

A rich kid that has been getting by just turning in the same 3 papers for years.

You also need those things to play via the cloud. What's your point?

Also regarding shipping, it was right there in the link man:

Like the article author, I also don't see a tangible connection between another company doing a third party acquisition and Stadia closing down its first party development studios.

My point is my original post which you're trying to disagree with: "You do realise even the minimum requirements PC costs more than a console, right? That's... why people buy consoles?". For a hypothetical person without a console or a PC, the cost of a COD-ready PC will always exceed the cost of a console. And I haven't even pointed out that the entry level console would be the Xbox Series S, which is already cheaper than just the PC you selected.

Your link reads: "Does not ship to Australia" to me.

Christ alive man, this is literally what Phil Harrison told people (yes I'll quote it a 3rd time, maybe you'll actually read it this time):

Harrison "pointed specifically to Microsoft's buying spree and planned acquisition of Bethesda Software later this year as one of the factors that had made Google decide to close the book on original game development."

Stadia is a platform with a storefront and Activision can port could have ported COD to it if they so choose.
The whole reason behind Stadia and subscription services in general is to have a lot of content at a cheap price. However, Sony used their revenue and their market leader position in the console industry to make third party deals to prevent these subscriptions from getting content.

Google hardly put in any investment into the store front because they knew how pointless it would be. Same reason why MS invested heavily into game pass. Sony make these type of third party deals all the time and it is the reason why Sega is out of console business too.

And your point was Microsoft supports stadia unlike Sony.

They don't. They look out for their own business and Sony does the same

He said it, but it doesn't make any sense.

It's like if this Activision deal closes, Sony decides to shudder Naughty Dogs. It makes no sense why you close your first party development studio because another company made a big third party acquisition.

I mean if we're inclined to take what these guys say at face value, I have some quotes from another Phil from the gaming industry. :messenger_confused:

It's not worth your time, friend. He thinks a company voicing their concerns about this acquisition to regulatory bodies is akin to jury tampering.

If you don't have Ebay in Australia I'm sure there's an equivalent, I'm sure you'll be able to find similarly specced builds there for reasonable prices.

Regardless, I think we might be talking about two different things here. I'm not disputing the advantageous price/performance of consoles, nor the fact that they are more convenient. What I am disputing is the notion that one has to buy a $400—$500 console should they want to play the new COD. This is factually untrue as evidenced by the fact that a PC version also exists and that the minimum requirements allow for builds that are cheaper than those prices to play the game.

Stadia wasn't doing well even when they had all of the big Bethesda games. Maybe if Sony didn't keep COD or all of the other third party games from being on it's subscription service we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I didn't know that a CMA document could sound like pure desperation but here we are.
You should read some of Sonys bitching about how they will starve to death if this deal goes through.

^Both sides to all regulatory bodies right now.

Marvel's Wolverine was announced with a spectacular reveal trailer, but not much information was revealed. A rough release period was not confirmed either, but a new document from Microsoft seems to hint at a 2023 release date for the much anticipated Marvel's Wolverine.

Microsot-CMA-Wolverine.jpg

Source: Microsoft Document

All of the games mentioned in the document, except Marvel's Wolverine, are currently confirmed for a 2023 release date. Marvel's Wolverine has not yet been given a release date, so this seems like an odd statement from Microsoft.

Additionally, Insomniac Games is currently busy with Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The game is already confirmed for a 2023 release date, and a gameplay reveal is expected in the coming months. However, it would be difficult for Insomniac Games to simultaneously lead development on two projects and release two big AAA titles within 12 months.

It is not unlikely that Microsoft knows more about Sony's release schedule than the general public. However, it would be wise to take this information with a grain of salt until further confirmation.

Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine were announced the same day. One as 2023 and another as TBA. Spider-Man 2 (by the Spider-Man 1 core team) is a sequel and started to be developed a year before than Wolverine (by the Morales core team). Wolverine won't be a sequel, which means will need more work, even if will be more linear and less open world (so requiring less work).

Wolverine will be a 2024 game if lucky, won't be released in 2023. MS included it there to make the list longer.
