Blue hair. Checks out.

Interesting strategy from Microsoft to try to isolate Sony as the lone dissenting voice in the gaming industry. Will be interesting to see how regulators respond.

This is a dumb take. Offering COD to a platform that cremates yours without COD is a higher level of spin.
It's not. It's a sensible for business owners.

COD makes more profits, with more platforms.

Putting on switch means more money.

Age of exclusives is in the past.

If all you care about is number of plastic boxes you sell then maybe. If you care about making money from software sales for games with broad appeal it sometimes makes sense to sell them on other plastic boxes besides your own.

If you keep repeating a new Switch is coming it will eventually be true I guess? If BOTW2's release early next year didn't get them to pull the trigger on a new revision I doubt COD will.
COD is 10 years.
Switch isn't going to be available for those 10 years.

They'll reveal the Switch 2 next fall and release it in Spring 2024.

What if Nintendo pulls another launch of a new Switch with BOTW2? Like they did with the original BOTW?

That is Nintendo for you.

But giving switch success, and wii u failure, I hope they don't go that route.

I like my switch. I don't want another under powered one.

New one with new games would be fun. Current switch library is meh compared to other systems

You must not have read through the submissions Microsoft made to the CMA. Specifically about how their console business, subscriptions and cloud is actually doing.

To be clear I'm talking about the PR spin. Microsoft is presenting as if Nintendo isn't ina way stronger position than their platform, without COD. The PR itself doesn't make sense to us as gamers.

I won't be surprised if this is the case at all but I think it's a little too close to announcing new hardware now if they want this to come out spring/summer next year. m

MS has been more clear about putting COD on more platform day1.

Recently, in an exclusive interview with CNBC, Microsoft (Xbox) President Brad Smith mentioned that Call of Duty titles will not only be available on PlayStation alongside Xbox, but could possibly make their way onto the Nintendo console family, namely the Switch. When asked about the matter, he said:

"One of the things we are being very clear about, as we move forward with the regulatory review of this acquisition is that great titles like Call of Duty from Activision Blizzard today will continue to be available on the Sony PlayStation; we'd like to bring it to Nintendo devices, we'd like to bring other popular titles that Activision Blizzard has and ensure that they continue to be available on Playstation and that they become available on Nintendo."
He also mentioned the example of Minecraft and how successful it is as a multiplatform title.

Worth noting Brad Sams has been talking about bringing CoD back to Nintendo since February 2022. Days after announcing the acquisition.

So anyone saying that this is just a recent move is factually incorrect.

Edit: I wrote Brad Sam's here, I meant to write Brad Smith the president not the YouTube quote unquote personality.

Again, COD was on the GameCube, Wii, and the Wii U. The Switch is the first Nintendo console to not have a COD game.

They all think MS is scared from regulators.

MS could have said no COD on other platforms and put an end to this

They care more about making more money than making it exclusive to their system.

Minecraft is making insane amount of money for them. From game mtx to merchandise, to software license.

COD is going to be the same thing for them.

When you sniff enough dogshit it eventually smells fine

Probably why the dogshit smells fine to you

60fps wrapped in dogshit

Sorry i'm passionate about dogshit

Okay, is this the next persons that outs their poopoopoodle fetish after the cum slurper 64? Maybe there should be a list. We've got the cumsessed one and now the shitsniffer.

Imagine (please try) if the next Nintendo console is more powerful than XSX and PS5 and Nintendo ends up having the definitive console version of Call of Duty until MS and Sony start their next gen in 2027+.
🙃
Switch 2 will probably be around PS4 Pro or Xbox One X at best lol. That is if they want to keep these prices and doing a hybrid console again.

Switch 2 will be lucky to be as powerful as a base PS4
Imagine if there is no Switch 2 and they're making a regular stationary home console.
Or…
Imagine if they're making a Switch Pro plus a stationary console.

We're talking Nintendo, so what comes next could be anyone's wildest guess.

I do tend to lean towards a Switch 2 though. But I won't be shocked if its a VR headset that uses toy guns, and real sporting equipment instead of controllers. You just never know with those guys and gals at Nintendo.

Won't make much sense because games for Switch pro would have to work on switch and a stationary console would just split the userbase.

Hybrid is the future of Nintendo, and that comes with its own set of limitations in terms of silicon. Switch Oled is the switch pro, next is Switch 2. I expect them to bring in some sort of innovation on the hybrid concept like AR integration.

To me it seems like you might prefer them buy Activision thats going to be on your console for ten years, versus them having a 70 billion to purchase all other companies on the market. I could take Capcom , Konomi , Sega, and go to war with Activision with those IP. After rehiring all the old players. Tecmo for Ninja Gaiden.

This just reeks of something to appease the regulators. Not that I don't believe that MS will follow through with this promise(to some extent, at least), but MS is not doing it for the goodness of their heart, or because they want to be a third party to Nintendo. The moment they can lock the games behind Xbox and Gamepass, they will.

I don't think they are doing out of the goodness of their heart, but I also doubt they will take it off Nintendo unless it just doesn't sell, because Nintendo has a giant user base, and they buy a hell of a lot of software. CoD on Nintendo could make a shit ton of money for Xbox.

That's not what happened timeline wise, though. BOTW was supposed to be launched the year before I think in like the spring. They then delayed it. They announced the Switch in October and decided to launch it along side the delayed BOTW the next March. They might announce a new Switch and I'm sure a port/BC is coming with BOTW2, but there seems to be little indication a new Switch is coming for it.

Nintendo is notorious for delays on their big releases, that was my point. History may repeat itself.

Sony might also just be battling for enough concessions, what started as a three year deal is now a 10 year deal after all, and then go out there and buy the likes of Capcom, SE and Kudokawa. If regulators allow AB to go through then it will be basically impossible for them to stop those kind of acquisitions.

Worth saying again - as this isn't Xbox vs Nintendo/PlayStation, but MSFT - but it isn't making "money" for Xbox as they aren't funding a $70b acquisition from their profits.

If anything this argreement was always a win - win for Nintendo whether the deal passes or not, because it now places a verbal commitment on Activision to release CoD on Nintendo whether they wanted to or not, and as Nintendo don't have any leverage to have made that happen in recent years the outcome can only be potentially a game for Ninty IMO.
