I can only imagine that most of these people have never worked in a major corp or paid attention to any type of business news outside the gaming industry.

I see your point. Basically they aren't seeing that their method is what is dangerous to the gaming industry. I mean that kinda plays to what I said about them stopping prior to the Bethesda acquisition. I don't think it helps the industry the way they want to do things. I specifically remember saying I prefer Sony's more organic approach to acquisitions, years ago. They buy folks who they've worked with or had a solid relationship with for some time, then they buy them. I guess one could argue that Bethesda and Xbox have had this kind of relationship. However, the majority of the acquisitions are like Microsoft saw something shiny and just bought it. Ninja Theory, specifically, comes to mind. No working relationship...saw Hellblade as an indie game...oooh shiny....purchased. Other ones I could consider are somewhat organic are Undead Labs, Playground Games, I suppose Rare, though that was long before the acquisition rush of a few years ago.

To be fair, Sony does some things on a much smaller scale that's also anticonsumer and anticompetitive. It's not $76 billion worth of anticonsumer and anticompetitive so I guess we turn a blind eye. But I don't ignore that. The method is still bad, regardless of the amount of money behind it.

Because you were dismissing the "gamers" lawyers due to the emails being redacted while believing Microsoft's reps claims about the redacted emails unquestioned.

The only "gachas" here are the ones you are bringing on yourself. Be consistent in what you are saying and you won't have any further problem from me. That's all.

Revisionist history.

Sony even allowed Psygnosis to publish their games on the Saturn for years after purchasing them. Even Tomb Raider was published to Saturn. All things revisionisms forget happened. Sega killed the Saturn. The games were there, the gamers and their strategy/pricing was not.

The 3D era is what killed the 2D built machine.

Do they think Satia Nadella wakes up one day, decides to call Phil Spencer while eating his bacon & eggs and says hey Phil, what if we buy ABK for $70B? Let's announce it this afternoon!

They think Microsoft deciding to spend as much money as Sony is worth to buy videogame publishers isn't part of a strategy that spans for over a decade? A strategy that had to go through dozens of validation steps before initiating the process?

I'm dismissing the 'gamers' lawsuit lawyers claim about it being directly related to the on-going activision acquisition. The dates prove that, there were multiple other things that happened post that 2019 email that are closer to the timeline than the end of 2021 talks about Activision between the two parties.

They're attributing something else to the current case to try and drum up buzz about it in the court, but for all intents, it looks like outside of a hardcore bunch, it has not taken any effect and despite all the tagging, FTCs main argument is still "look at Zenimax".

I don't think anyone has argued that the ABK purchase isn't part of MS's plans to dominate Sony and Nintendo. Just like the moves and deals Sony and Nintendo make are part of their strategy to dominate the other two.

Microsoft does have a history of trying to buy out markets to destroy competition in the 90s and 2000. Figured they got over doing that though.

What xbox is planning is annihilation using Microsoft $.

Either way the end goal is the same for all of these companies.

Which is why a merger regulation sector exists and needs to exist. For instance, such as an almost $3T company going scorched earth on an industry. Why the mental gymnastics? Just because companies "want to" does not excuse those who are able to, and actively trying to.

They're not comparable at all. And, and once again, multiple regulators have dismissed the foreclosing part *with* all the prior knowledge of the kind of commitments made for Zenimax games vs Call of Duty.

Using daddy's money to buy up the largest third party publishers and their hundreds of IPs after failing to gain ground via the division on its own merits, and then gloating that you were not going to stop there... is the very definition of scorched earth.
