I don't think these people could have survived Star Trek in the 60s.4 hours until it officially launches. Can't wait for the fireworks. The Steam forums have been nothing but woke, woke, woke, woke, refund since Thursday.

That is how I approached all their previous games since Morrowind but intuition told me to try and stick to the main story this time. In many ways I'm glad I did, because (no spoilers) relatively early something happens that slightly influences how you play a game. You will know when you see it. I think that is good moment to branch out and do other stuff.Thats what i love about Bethesda rpg's, you can do what you want in what order you want. I always leave the main questline to the end, if i even end up doing it at all as Bethesda rpg's to me are all about the side content.
Or the 90s.I don't think these people could have survived Star Trek in the 60s.

It reminds me of early 2000s GameFAQsSteam forum is a cesspit filled with looneys, trolls and rejects.
Looks like it's $30 on Woot right now. It'll have to wait for me, though. The rest of my 2023 is booked solid. I still haven't even started Bayo 3...I think so, but I think I'm one of like 3 people on here who played it. Fantastic game. It's been on sale at many retailers for $30 already if you're interested. It's like Brothers + El Shaddai / Okami art style + a few sprinkles of Zelda and Platinum Games.

Believe it or not, there will probably be people who refund this game just because of that.

It was the same thing with pretty much all of the Bethesda games: you really really suck ass at the beginning, and you generally have a second difficulty bump falling in to your class when you don't quite have the perks, skills, or the set-up to make it click quite yet.I should've clarified the list was what I enjoyed haha. I only pointed out ff16 and Jedi because I planned to return to them but I left them in the dust — same with Hogwarts. Hogwarts I don't plan to go back to. The pacing in that game was abysmal . Same issue as FF16 actually but at least 16 had some really high points and engaging story that I would be willing to try again.
I don't have it in me to continue Hogwarts. Even outside of pacing the overall side quests are just so dull and repetitive that they may as well not exist. After my 30th flying page pulled in I was over collecting them.

I didn't expect starfield to the best game of this year for me, but quite high. Achieving GOTY to me when the first 10 hours I planned to drop it is a testament to that old argument about game design in regards to "I shouldn't have to play X hours for a game to get good. It should be good from the jump."
This game to me is the ultimate testament to the more time you put in the better and better it gets.

PSA:
It took some folks a while to get in on fake launch day on xbox/windows store. Don't expect it to unlock instantly.
Excellent OT
Amazing game. 40 hours in, 22 hours into 2nd character.
This thing will probably replace No Man's Sky for me as the go to game. Will miss seamless planet-to-space transition(and VR of course), but after playing 40hours, I really don't miss it as much as I thought I would.
Dogfighting is very fun, combat feels nice (although 1st person is a must for me, which is odd since I rarely, if ever, play shooters and always chose 3rd over 1st if I have the option).
Art Design is top notch, I understand what they were going for with 'Nasa Punk'. They nailed it.
Sound/Music is very fitting. Wandering around with the atmospheric sounds and soft background music reminds me of serene Star Wars moments. And the sound design for ships and scanning is very 'satisfying' for me.
Haven't done much of the main quest. With the first character I mostly played 'action side missions' and explored outposts etc, with the second character I played the first 10 hours roughly questing without firing a single bullet. Felt like two completely different games.
I like the dialogues (although BG3 feels more natural and better written) and the quests themselves are a lot of fun.
Finding stuff like Grandma or The Constant or the Mantis Quest is bringing back Fallout 3 vibes visiting Rivet City for the first time. Infact, most of the game feels like that for me, which is brilliant.
I wouldn't be able to review Starfield.
It's absolutely a 10/10 for me. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but the flaws or bad parts and my nitpicks do not matter at all. The positives outweigh the negatives ten to one.
Something like this comes once in a decade for me.
In short: I'm in love, honeymoon period be damned. Standard for me is 30hours, then I feel like I need variety, a change in setting etc. The only other game where this happened after a couple hundred hours was No Man's Sky, so let's see how much Starfield I have to play til this feeling comes up![]()
Only other thing I could think of is that the physical run is probably quite small.Looks like it's $30 on Woot right now. It'll have to wait for me, though. The rest of my 2023 is booked solid. I still haven't even started Bayo 3...![]()
Andreja is awesome, the rest of the Contellats are annoying, wish I could just kill them.
For me the issue was playing it how I did Skyrim and fallout doesn't work.It was the same thing with pretty much all of the Bethesda games: you really really suck ass at the beginning, and you generally have a second difficulty bump falling in to your class when you don't quite have the perks, skills, or the set-up to make it click quite yet.
I actually took the complete opposite route and was fully hooked. As soon as I got to the city I was just hooked. Was like Mass Effect 1 + Morrowind. No map, just figure it out yourself. Still haven't hardly touched any faction or main quests. After gorging on city exploration I just went scanning into the wilderness and finding occupied outposts. Then doing multiple smaller side quests. For me the issue was playing it how I did Skyrim and fallout doesn't work.
When you leave the cave in Skyrim you can run any direction and you will find engaging main quests, unique caves or creatures to fight etc.
Because starfield isn't a single world the majority of people who are bored are ones like me who didn't follow the main quest. The second at around hour 10 I stopped talking to people in new Atlantis and said fuck it I'll try main story and faction quests I found , presto the Bethesda magic appeared. In past games the magic was everywhere right away but in starfield that just isn't the case.
All new players should stick to main story and factions quests for the first 10-20 hours to get quick satisfaction with the game to be hooked.
Where's Ahsoka?Party in the deck and you were not invited.
It's the first game that Bethesda nailed the characters and the character editor.-
Wake the fuck up, Samurai
Not yet. On a total opposite side of the spectrum, I helped out a starship of children on a field trip.So has anyone found a scary ass Event Horizon inspired mission yet
So you get loading screens with you standing behind Sarah bent over? For the newbies, take photos in the game as well as using the screenshot feature with the console. Photos you've taken will sometimes show up on the loading screens.
I made sure I would, so I took 25 photos of it.So you get loading screens with you standing behind Sarah bent over?
A feature from Fallout 76, in case anyone didn't know. For the newbies, take photos in the game as well as using the screenshot feature with the console. Photos you've taken will sometimes show up on the loading screens.
Wake the fuck up, Samurai
And yeah they nailed it! Captain Fisto reporting for duty:

Lost some weight though.Damn, Aloy did not age well.
Pro tip:
in the equipment screen you can set it to hide your helmet/armor when on a habitable planet so you can see your clothes.
If you then go take off all your clothes, it'll show your armor instead. However if you put on just a hat in the clothing menu, it will show you in your underpants like this:

Breathtaking.

After 30~ hours in play time, I am finally arriving at The Eye for the first time lol. I should probably do a few story missions between the faction stuff.

Good advice. I joined the first faction that I came across (UC Vanguard, which you will get the opportunity to join very early on during the main quest). I thought it'd be like the Stormcloak quest in Skyrim... a few "go to this outpost and kill the bandits/pirates/whatever" quests, a few semi-interesting characters to meet, go kill the big bad guy, get a unique weapon and nothing else in the game world really changes. For me the issue was playing it how I did Skyrim and fallout doesn't work.
