Over 50% players finished the game.
Crazy engagement numbers with the amount the game has sold.

I noticed after finishing it that the percentage for completing the main story was above 50%. Which is super rare.

I on the other hand, couldn't wait to finish it and delete it. Was beyond done. Can't stand open-world bloat anymore. Super Mario RPG immediately after is like taking aspirin after a hangover.

I didn't realise this before i got a PS5 but Sony really does a good job at showcasing their trophy system. Even with tips and guides directly integrated in the interface.

That's another thing where Microsoft did it first but completely stopped trying to be creative with it. It must play a role in those high completion rates.

That part was honestly one of the few things that made me hesitate to cancel my ps plus sub, very intuitive feature that's really well implemented in the OS.

Cry as much as want about the "Sony Formula" but the fact is players are buying and completing them.

Spiderman
Spiderman 2
God of war
God of war ragnarok
Last of us part 2
Ghost of Tsushima

All have completion rates of over 40% some over 50%. Last of Us part 2 might be close to 60%.

RE4 remake and Jedi Survior are both over 50% as well.

I even struggle to see a clear "formula" since they have a pretty different structure and gameplay, they actually feel like different experiences. Sharing the focus on story isn't a formula imo

Felt the same way but the lack of depth in Super Mario RPG... ☠️☠️☠️

I'm a massive trophy slut, and those are definitely impressive engagement stats. But let's be real here just beating the game and you're basically at plat, and there's no difficulty based trophy. It's a free plat for sure.

I'm continually impressed by the plat rate at From games for example, the fan base is just rabid. Stuff like Elden ring is >10% which is insane.

Amazing the amount of investment people have with their games when they are of quality and actually buy them...who knew?

See?
When you don't stretch your game out to 60 hours for no reason and you can see everything it has to offer in 30 hours instead of 150 more people will actually bother finishing them

Nope, just beat it and clear all the side objective icons and that's it. Some combat related stuff you'll probably just get naturally before the end.
I'm at 98% on miles cause I didn't feel like playing it again. Probably replay it and then get spider 2 at Christmas

jeez its exactly the same facial structure and long fat chin, pretty sure she looks pretty similar when not directly posing to a camera in a photoshoot
you guys are extremely weird lol

Textures and illumination in games have gotten so good that they're fucking up the fantasies of dudes who have never seen a woman in natural lighting.

First party platinums are so boring now, every single of them just a completion check list. Wouldn't even have balls to put a difficulty trophy in the list.

Back in PS3 trophy hunting was so much more fun.

It's an easy plat but also skips some bs that some games have.

It's easier than the first one that basically required players to go through the game twice and getting gold on all the challenges. They only left mysterio for challenges and I don't think they are a requirement for the platinum.

That said it's not just like going over the game and you are done, there are things like hanging a certain amount of enemies or completing sidestories. It still speaks about how players were engaged.

...and then the internet gave us guides for free for 20 years before Sony started charging for it. What's your point?
Then why are you acting like this exclusive to Sony when its been done 20 years before? If you need a tips and tricks guide to platinum a game, then go watch youtube. Nobody is subscribing to Ps Plus for tips and tricks, but its there if you want to use it. You act like there is no other place to find this, lol.

Yeah there's been a shift in Sony's attitudes towards plats. They're definitely meant to be achievable by most players now. Which is fine.

I'm on the final mission now and with what I have left I'll end up getting the plat. I like to do all the side content and there's no stupid trophies you need to go deliberately out of your way for. The few grindy ones come naturally. The only one I'm actually going to look up is finding miles science trophy cos no idea where that is.

I think it's a good strategy. They've obviously seen trophies and completionism is important with all the shovelware platinum games. There is no point getting your hardcore players (who typically want to 100%) pissed off having to grind.

Insomniac does a great job with platinums honestly, they don't require "expert skills" but if you're skilled you'll finish up quite a bit quicker.
Insomniac trophies always felt like they reward you for exploring, trying new things, and finding secrets from time to time. To me this is great because they encourage fun.

I'm glad they don't do the typical 360/PS3 gen thing that trophies did of either making you grind for months and months or using rage-bait/near-impossible feats so that you'd end up grinding away in a game anyway. At the end of the day trophies and achievements may be a time-waster but they shouldn't feel like a time-waster.

You pretending I'm acting this way or that way doesn't change you not having made a valid point.

The simple fact of the matter is that someone asked a valid question because they were not aware of the answer (I didn't know, either) and you got your fanboy hackles up for no reason. Topher didn't pass judgement, nor did I. I just filled in the gap. If that cut through your defence so easily, perhaps it wasn't that strong of a defence.

Their newer games have an obscene amount of fail-safes which makes a playthrough borderline impossible to mess up unless you do it on purpose. You can practically tell they undergo a crazy amount of user testing.
