I live in a world where I read the meetings minutes from local school board meetings where multiple parents of different backgrounds bring these books that are in the school libraries of the local school district to the school board and read excerpts from the books and ask the school board how they can justify these being in middle schools. "Speak with your wallet" seems to be working. These videogames are a dime a dozen. Along with this game in October, Y's X: Nordics is also releasing. Am very much looking forward to playing that. There is always something else to play not even including most of our extensive backlogs of unplayed games.

It's a tired argument to bring up past games that have woke or progressive values... the point is there has been enough chip damage to where a huge portion of the gaming audience has had enough. Activist game designers flew too close to the sun and now people are outright rejecting it. Same thing goes for shit like Star Wars and Marvel.
The only one I'd vaguely consider buying is Shadows, if the buzz is positive after release. The protagonists don't inherently bother me. But I've mostly lost interest in the franchise after Valhalla and prefer to not play overly bloated and repetitive games designed to incentivize MTX timesavers. Dragon Age is getting ripped to shreds everywhere for this. Even people on Reddit are struggling to be enthused about the game.
I watched the latest IGN preview and it felt more like damage control for BioWare. "Call out how jarring the Qunari heads look. We're self-aware about it."
Anyway, the game looks a tad bit oversaturated, but I think the graphics are pretty good. I just can't get past the cast of characters and my assumption that the writing will be complete trash. Pretty bummed I can't be excited for a new Dragon Age.

Why are they like this. I was looking forward to this even with a bit of gayness to it. I have a strong feeling the writing in Veilguard will be full of preachy awfulness with contemporary references ("Building a wall against the wood elves is wrong" *Everyone disliked that*) and some evil doctor refusing to cut some child dwarf's dick off refusing them transformation into their true god-like being.

They looked cool in Dragon Age 2 and now...not so much. I'm guessing the developers wanted to make their own interpretation of the Qunari, unfortunately.

Not surprising the character creator options, and the options for women being severely limited. Insidious misogyny has always been a rampant part of the TRA movement, where they often want to control how women present themselves or views on femininity. The concept of being a woman is very often rooted in a humiliation/degredation fetish (women are "lesser" than men so they get off as being seen as a woman as humiliation), so they often have pretty nasty opinions about actual biological women and their views and concerns. Even Contrapoints has spouted some eye raising stuff against women.

This game isn't for me. It's such a departure from previous titles that it feels like a new IP. Definitely a no from me.
I can't say I'd be shocked if this flops. Bioware have been underperforming for years. This could be the game that finishes them off.

1. There's a difference between woke and progressive. Games like Spider-Man 2 and TLOU2 have stories with progressive themes. It's not just window dressing. Those games are about self-actualization and identity and having a place in the world, and therefore
2. Political or politically-tinged themes belong some places and not others. Where they fit, and are done well (TLOU2, Life is Strange, Death Stranding, Bioshock) the games are richer for it and tend to sell well. When they're hamfisted bullshit (Concord), we get annoyed and the games tend to bomb.
Put more simply - there's a difference between pronouns on a selection screen and Lev.

Personally I think TLOU2 and especially Spider-Man 2 crossed that Progressive to Woke lines, but either way these were certainly games that sold well.
It's going to be interesting to see sales of the next games in the franchises.

I watched gameplay footage last night and it actually looks fine overall, eased some of my concerns. I am still concerned but I'm going to take a leap of faith. Personally, I want this game to sell well because there were rumors and concept art floating around of an Origins remake, and I'm scared that this game flopping will lead them to cancel the remake.

The one moment I remembered was a sidequest where some dumbasses stole the school team's mascot and you had to find them by doing some weird shit with lasers to discover hidden messages from a group who called themselves "Bipoc artists" and was responsible for stealing that mascot. This was a huge wtf moment for me

The more I hear about this character creator, the worse it sounds. I think the worst part is the lack of boob and ass options for women. Looking at the characters in the game, some look ok. But you cannot make a decent looking playable female character. That is just awful. They literally brag about how great the creator is, when it is probably the worst one ever.
I uninstalled Sims 4 when they added in top scars for free, while charging for everything else in the world. For fuck sake, it should have been paid DLC like everything else, then I could have at least had the option to not see it in my game. They forced it on me. And that is the problem. This shit is forced. I am so sick of it being forced on me.
