Great looking piece of art.
Fights in Monster Hunter are too long for me. Game looks excellent but I prefer something like Doom Eternal, gameplay wise

The graphics continue to disappoint, especially considering the hardware charts that we`ve seen so far. The "we´re gonna use the hardware to the fullest" line from one of the developers sounds kinda ridiculous at this point, or maybe he just meant "we`re going to do the best we can with an engine that`s obviously not made for this type of game"
.... but it`s more Monster Hunter..so definitely my GOTY 2025 at least.

Are you kidding me!? the way weather effects drastically change the environments, monsters actually effecting terrain during the fight and the way endemic life are interacting not just with big monsters but also with other endemic life.

I'm currently replaying Monster Hunter World and the visual doesn't even compare to Wilds both Monster model, character models and sheer scale of the map.

Lol....
Maybe look left and right and not just at the predecessor. You know, at the rest of the industry? Capcom is trailing almost an entire generation behind hallmarks like GuerillaGames here.....

Horizon can fuck off as far as I'm concern, I played the first game I will never play it again.

And how exactly does your personal opinion about the game effect the objective purely technological situation?
So tell me how Horizon's endemic life interact with each other or weather effects or even how monsters can effect the terrain during the fight?

Or are we just talking about surface level pretty graphics here?

You need to grab a dictionary and read the definition of graphics. You`re heavily mixing up world simulation/Gamplay design and graphics.
We`re talking, animations, models, lighting, asset quality and diversity, geometric detail, textures, rendering distance, LOD handling etc etc which are all at the very best middling cross gen level here.
Also being impressed by standard features like dynamic weather and basic terrain deformation in a 2025 game....under which rock have you lived the last decade?

so far we've only seen the hunter we play as making food with the small fishes and the big slap of meat. well, that and the guy spreading the cheese on the bread. will we get more food scenes like in World with the Meowscular Chef and Grammewster Chef?

When was the last time you got impressed by a game?

Overview trailer was so good. Looks like the footage was from an updated version - the texture pop-in issues seem to have been resolved. This was particularly evident before with the pop-up camp. Good to see the game progressing well. So far this game seems like a MH fan's dream.

Trailer mentioned that Nata was the last of the Keepers.

Nata's village was destroyed by the White Wraith, Arkveld.

Arkveld is a monster thought to be extinct, having been chained up for ages. And the first thing he does when he breaks free is destroy a village? Sounds like Arkveld has a grudge against the Keepers. I believe the Keepers and Arkveld are going to be related to the technology motif that we see in the title graphic. The Forbidden Lands? Why are they forbidden? What have the Keepers been keeping? Secrets? What secret is so terrible that the whole area has been forbidden? Hmmm.

One thing I'm SUPER happy is that this game is not gonna push online in your face like World did.....even in this overview mentioned if people who enjoy offline gaming they can choose to bring NPC to the hunt.

So I finally got around to watching the GameSpot demo. I... have an suspicion that footage is from the actual demo that players will be receiving, with progress carrying over to the main game. I think perhaps Capcom looked at FF16's preorder performance in relation to the demo they provided before hand.

Give players a lengthy demo with carry-over progress, and those players will then feel invested into what they play and are more likely to make a purchase vs. an isolated, one off demo with no consequence. But if someone spends time to make their perfect character, make their palico, go through the first couple story missions -- now they're much more likely to actually jump into the purchase. You give them just enough to really want more.

What tipped me off here is that the Rey Dau fight had a 30 minute timer. The Nergigante demo had a limited time too, 15 minutes, allowed you to create a character, and demonstrated the very beginning of the game.

Watching the whole Capcom presentation now. This stuck out to me...

Finally, confirmation; the game is truly open world. Outside of loading into special areas, there are no loading screens. The base camp exists within the map and you can freely walk in and out of it without loading, and you can freely walk between maps without loading.

Oh. Well fine then, just come out and say it why don't you.

Hopefully a hinterland region won't be reserved for DLC again this time around. I was really disappointed about the lack of ice and snow in base World as those have always been my favorite hunting locales. This is a day one buy for me regardless though.

We already have desert, and forest.. I predict beach/ocean next, followed by maybe a cave/snow area, and finally volcano.

In the new story trailer they kind of teased the snow area, in fact I think the our flagship monster it from snow area since his kind of had winter fur similar to Barioth.

I hope you're both right, especially about the beach because Plesioth needs to make its rage inducing return.

Bro FF16 has literally nothing the fuck to do with Wilds. Nearly every single MH game has gotten demo. Stop smoking crack. The connection you are making in wild speculation at best.

I am speculating. When did I suggest otherwise? That doesn’t change the fact that FF16 preordered very well following the demo for what was otherwise a very mid game, and that information is easily observable by other companies.

I myself preordered the game after the demo, even when I said I wasn’t going to buy it at launch initially.

You know what, I apologize,, I was in a terrible mood when I saw that post and for whatever reason it set me off. Having gone to bed and let some time pass I can see that now. I’m sorry for the shitty post. I hope you have a great weekend man, for whatever it’s worth

Don’t sweat it! I appreciate the sentiment though. I’m sorry you were in a bad place. If you feel like talking or venting you can PM me.

Man, that framerate...
Couple that with OLED judder and...i can already feel the nausea.

OLED has made it impossible for me to go back to 30fps, let's wait and see how it will fare on the Pro - not that I'm holding my breath...

I don't know you people but i would be ok if they don't show anything else about the game, i don't even want the demo, we are just 5 months away.

Are these fuckers gonna spoiler the entire game?

I think it’s the opposite actually. I think they are showing this much because they have SO much we haven’t seen yet. We’ve only seen two out of presumably five areas and probably only 1/10th of the large monsters.

I suspect we will get one more big reveal trailer at TGAs to cap things off and then more or less silence until the launch trailer to sort of recap everything and hype up.

Yeah but they showed a lot of new monsters and one monster that many people asked for (the farting monkey), they could have used some old monsters like a ratha or a diablos...
They showed the apex of the first area, why showing the apex of the second area aswell?

No matter what they do, someone is going to be butt hurt.

RATHALOS AND DIABLOS? This game really is just dlc for mhw no wonder it looks like a ps2 game REEEEE!

If they were really interested in giving people what they asked for they would have shown Lagiacrus by now.

One thing is I hope they address is making lower tier monster more relevant, I like the idea arch tempered monsters in World but I also dont like the idea is only exclusive to Elder Dragons.

They could potentially do this with the new item set bonuses but it does occur to me that the most powerful parts will come from the most powerful monsters. I could see them doing something like arch tempered again for gamma sets or something with additional set bonuses.

But yeah it’s a little boring at the end of the game everyone is using basically one of three sets mixed and matched.

I feel like Rise did this to an extent, giving you reasons to hunt various monsters for augment mats and not just end game monsters over and over.
4G and Rise/Sunbreak are probably the best MH games and were IMO more balanced around grinding a variety of monsters instead of endgame monsters only. Only garbage aspect is Charm farming for your god roll charm. And in those days my Black Diablos set for HBG with 7 skills was considered an accomplishment with Evade Extender, Pierce Up and Peak Performance being the main ones.

And Seltas set was amazing for Gunlance.

I hope in this games build at launch they do something about hitstop and use some hitsparks on their slashing weapons because it feels very floaty and weightless. Clipping through monsters felt bad during the beta for me. Highlight for Wilds was the Character Creator and the zones were decent but the combat is definitely aimed at MH World players and to a degree I think the gameplay loop in World is better overall then Wilds at present. I have concerns that streamlining the gameplay in Wilds will be a double edged sword.
