Doom: The Dark Ages Release Date Leaked - May 15, 2025

How many of you all completed the Eternal DLC?
Bruh please. :messenger_sunglasses:

Sadly I didn't play Part 1 until both parts were released, so I never got to play the un-nerfed version. Amazing DLCs, loved the new music.

I remember playing doom 2 the expansion, 4th difficulty with low health and a pistol and the imps, the demons all came at me from every direction at once and thought this is it, but suddenly, I just found the Super Shotgun and shot every one of them.

Please no stupid platforming and climbing and a singular effective gameplay loop via a mandatory resource management "minigame".
Eternal from an arena shooter perspective, is one of the best that's ever been made. It's everything you want in an arena shooter. From gameplay mechanics and design, it's vastly superior to the brain dead difficulty of Doom 2016 (which is still a good game). But people didn't like Eternal because they felt like they had to think too much. The fact that they made it a challenge, having to cycle through certain weapons and focus on enemy weak points etc. was great! I don't even understand how people found the resource management difficult, it's the same as Doom 2016, it's still literally one button to pick up ammo except instead of it being on the ground, it's a chainsaw swipe to enemy fodder. Want to refill your health, one button to glory kill instead of picking it up off the ground. People are just butt hurt because they had to do it in the middle of combat and must be uncoordinated. The platforming was also a nice little break from the combat and let's you take a breather to take in the atmosphere of the game.

Edit: I've said this before on here but my (now) wife hates video games, doesn't even care or like to watch me play, I start playing games, she leaves the room. She saw me play Doom Eternal and she was in awe in the game design and she couldn't stop watching, she still says this is the only game she liked and wanted to watch me play. This is out of 100s of games she might of briefly seen me play. She's also a very intellectual person and she said it's really well made, so what does that say about Doom Eternal?

Should I just go ahead and assume that the Xbox disc won't contain a playable version of the game?
You never know. A lot of games are perfectly fine. Hell, Cyberpunk full release with DLC was better on Xbox since CDPR didn't want to reissue SKUs on PS5.

Fuck yeah man. I bet I'm going to miss the action and speed of Eternal if they really make Dark Ages slower.

Eternal was truly an exhilarating game. Probably the only game ever that has forced me to take a break here or there because I could really notice my heart rate going up lol.

Seems like I'm in the minority but I preferred Doom Eternal for its verticality, more variety, platforming, etc. I'm disappointed to hear The Dark Ages will be more straight line shooting.

Because the game is a pain the ass with its shitty platforming and terrible ammo economy

One of the most disappointing sequels I've ever played, I loved 2016 to death

When's this coming to PC/PS5?
PC, hopefully the same day as Xbox. Don't remember a recent MS release that didn't release the same day on both platforms.

For PS5, I hope it's the same day as well. No reason to keep them waiting if the idea is to sell as much units as possible.

Dude just press spacebar to jump and use the chainsaw to get ammo, it's easy!

I prefer Doom 2016(gameplay) since Eternal just felt like you just rotated between cooldowns and just Meathooked everywhere. If they remove the platforming and give good ammo economy even if through ammo mutation it might be more enjoyable.

Doom 3 still the best Doom game for me. Love me that dark atmosphere. The more games like Doom 3 the better.

Got to give it to nu-id Software: 3 new DOOM games and instead of re-iterating on the previous one and calling it day they are going to give us 3 different but still amazing videogames.
