AMD Radeon 9070XT review thread

Also from MLID about EU
Yeah - I warned y'all that specifically in the EU it sounded bad. The good news is AMD's seemingly going to keep manufacturing & shipping tons of cards. The bad news is that Nvidia sounds completely AFK for at least the next month or two...so prices will remain above MSRP....

lol that was probably the whole stock available in canada for the rtx 5000 launch

I ordered a card within 5 minutes of them going up on newegg and a few minutes later received an e-mail that the order was cancelled.

Modern PC gaming is full of fun times. Guess ill stick with my 3070Ti for now.

Cunt tactics all around. AMD knew this going into the announcement and it is disgusting.

Wow so clearly if they had went ahead with CES show unveil it would have costed a lot more than $599.

Fictional MSRP. First time I see the temporary MSRP tactic to be honest. Shady as fuck.

They almost did it also for RDNA 2 which the reference card was pretty much the only one at MSRP and they wanted to stop production. Now they're just saying that this was a bonus for early buyers and prices are going up soon.

I'm so fed up with GPU prices. If this fucking AI bubble can burst by switching to some quantum CPU or something, for the love of god, bring back gaming GPUs.

Yea I have been on zero sleep to be up for the 6am launch and am surly as fuck, couple that with the only friend to land a purchase submission got an email cancelling the order. I am dead sure these cards never had an online $599 presence. Right there at 6am and the webpages refresh to sold out with a single F5 is bullshit. They're just now double dipping the rebate coupon and the hiked up street price. I hope AMD demands receipts of this shit.

This Bot AI scalping scam isn't going to stop until consumers stop buying them at marked up pricing.

Manufacturers won't stop it bc it justifies further msrp increases

Retailers do not care bc they just want units sold

I was just mentioning in the other thread how Micro Center is a haven for this stuff. No online orders means scalpers have no power here
Yeah if ONLY there was one within FOUR HOURS of my home and I live in a fairly large metro area of 1.5 million people

The non-XT 9070 actually looks like a real winner. 9-12% slower than the XT but with close to 30% less power draw. AMD actually made an efficient GPU.

This will be the card that will make me retire my 6900XT. 4k performance being it's sweet spot is perfect for me on a 4k60hz setup. Will be nice to have the newer features too. Was going to get a 7900XTX but I missed the boat at launch and held onto the 6900XT. With a tuned memory 11900k I'll probably ride the combo out for a few more years.

I'm so torn as to whether the 9070XT would be the right purchase to replace my 3080. I'm gonna hold out for a bit I think, but path tracing at 60+FPS seems great if some of the other settings are lowered. It really feels like the GPU upgrades are much smaller gen on gen for the last few years. I wonder whether this will be the case moving forward now...
If PT at 60fps is your objective, I wouldn't bother with the 9070 XT.

So basically retailers are limiting early stock (since they bought them at a higher price) until AMD lifts the MSRP good guys policy, allowing them to sell the cards at a higher price in a short future?

This is clever way to fuck over Nvidia, but considering it fucks the consumer in the process too...

Bruh you beat me by a second :messenger_loudly_crying:

Reviews are pretty high, 10/10 from IGN

Lisa Su is obviously farming the rx 9080xt strategically, they want a bad ass release for it to change the equation.

The situation in Europe is ridiculous. A friend of mine ordered a 9070 for €670, the xt were alll over 1000. In the UK I still see XT pop up at around 660/670, which is a fair price.

It's obvious AMD prioritizes their bigger markets, but overall it's a positive. For people worried about "fake" MSRP, let me tell you what will happen.

Jensen will realize he looks like a douche and magically find the stock so both 5070 and 5070ti will start appearing at retailers and get closer to MSRP.

AMD will lose their advantage and their cards will go below MSRP.

In 3-4 months you'll be able to buy any xx70 card for less than MSRP

There won't be a 9080xt, but I think you can expect a 9070xtx or 9075xt which might be a super OC'd version, maybe with more VRAM. They aren't making a bigger chip, there's too much money to be making in AI/datacenters.

It's the same situation for Nvidia, that's why you can't find their GPUs anywhere.

I didn't realise that the Sappire Nitro model uses a 12 pin to 3x8 adapter. Just bought a native 12 pin for my PSU. I'm sure the adapter works fine but too many cables for my liking.

Unless you are over clocking hard, that 3rd rail wont be used much.

Each 8pin can deliver 150W. And the pci slot delivers 75W.

Yeah it's not so much the power draw but if Sapphire have gone to all the trouble to have a magnetic shroud over the thing to make it look tidy the least I can do is not have a mess of cables underneath it :pie_roffles:

Details of the undervolt?
Here found. Just need translated to English

Don't want to pull an ONQ but I was saying all of this in the other thread ;)

Whoa was not expecting that. Not even a 4K bench either which the 9070 XT performs better in. I am very happy right now considering I can sell my old card for around 500.

I actually think Jensen is having issues with RTX 50 series supply right now, there is no way the situation is normal with the "missing ROPs" issue and the trickle of GPU's literally 1 or 2 at a time into the channel

It's also possible that this is not an issue and that Jensen has decided he will continue to prioritize the $100k+ AI products over the $2k consumer product, even though the supply of AMD product into the retail market is like 100 times larger than the supply of Nvidia product

AMD might actually gain a ton of market share instantly because they simply have multiple orders of magnitude more product to sell than Nvidia, and Jensen might be perfectly fine with it

I think 12gb gddr7 version would be nice for those that want roughly console level version with bit extra resolution

I'm impressed by the RT performance, they managed to hold their own against the nearest Nvidia GPU (5070). Granted Nvidia phoned that one in, but still it's holding up a lot better than the 7000 series.
