For now, not really.
I think i will in person though. MK World looks fantastic and i look forward to seeing that in 4K

Basically what i expected similar to steam deck but in a Switch sized form factor. I expected performance around steamdeck level despite having newer tech due to the smaller form factor and added cost of joycons and dock.

We'll see when it's actually out and we get proper comparisons instead of cherry picked marketing material.
But at least so far I'd say it's above my expectations. I was expecting $400-500 and base Ps4 level performance at best, but from some of these early comparison it seems to be performing above that level at least in terms of IQ.

Massive jump over the first one. More than I expected. Im happy Nintendo went the extra mile with the hardware and priced it fairly reasonable. It's gonna have a good run I feel.

Yes. It's a PS4 when docked and below the Xbox One when undocked. Overpriced too. For less you can get an Xbox Series S and GTA 6

Nintendo games are high resolution but don't even use full deferred rendering on the Switch 2. Mario Kart World looks good but the lighting is virtually unchanged from Wii U.

Even in my most "realistic" scenarios that peoples were dogpiling on me saying it'll never happen, Nintendo cheap, blah blah DF says DLSS too much hit on performance, forget it.....

It exceeded even those scenarios.

Never had a game on switch 2 would outclass a series S one in the cards.

Oh the gamefaq troll is still here, surprising.

PS4 when docked?

Stupidity Are You Stupid GIF

What a little troll. Cyberpunk 2077 FAR exceeds base PS4 and even PS4 pro. Fortnite has lumen + nanite, WHERE IS THAT ON PS4?

Btw Daisy is the most lame Nintendo character.

I already expected first parties to punch above their weight. 3rd parties will suck ass anyway unless they're exclusive to Switch 2.

My expectations were just Switch with a higher ceiling. I knew posts about ridiculous power assumptions will fall flat on its face. Nintendo and power didn't match in the last two decades. People should know by now.

This is an build with just 7 week of work according to CDPR… I think is pretty clear that the Switch 2 is considerably above the Steam Deck in terms of graphics capabilities.

Technical specifications are what they are, they are close as handhelds. Let's wait for final released games and healthy amounts of comparisons running side by side for assessing actual results accurately.

Man I am getting really tired with these redundant ass Switch 2 threads; bruh the Console is not out yet!

Whats the point of asking people this before they have experienced the device n real life?

Yes, it did.

By 2025 it was mandatatory to have something at least close or middle ground with current gen, releasing a PS4-level hardware in this day and age would have been a terrible idea. Of course Nintendo diehard apologists would knock the same blue ocean bullshit to justify that but I'm glad Nintendo got their asses proved wrong and not only they can but also must stay competitive in the hardware game.

The pricing issues is something that needs to be solved in the long run, but I'm glad Nintendo managed to get away, at last, from Iwata's bubble.

I wanted DLSS and I got DLSS, so I'd say in line. Still too early to make a judgment tho, need to see more games running on it and check how they perform.

Yep. Really want to see how they look on a 4k TV. Will be interesting to see how much magic Nintendo can squeeze out of DLSS.

Looks fukcing amazing wtf they talking about they sayt hat sht to my face and i will slahp and piledrive them right into the matt

Performance seems to be a tad higher than my expectations (though most of the specs were leaked years ago through a data breach).

Hardware price point was in the range I expected ($399-$449).
Surprised they hit below ¥50000 in Japan, must have eat the bullet.

Did not expect Nintendo would introduce features that limit the advantages physical have over digital and introduce a pricing scheme in which digital have base prices lower than physical (for first-party games, I mean).

Above expectations, I expected Xbox One/Steam Deck levels and it's nearly PS4 portable and something around halfway between PS4 and PS4 Pro docked. With that power, Nintendo can do fantastic things.

That being said, the machine it will have to face more years in the future is not the PS5 or PS5 Pro, but the Playstation 6 mind you.

Does a 2025 not even released console that has the level of power of a PS4 pro doesn't move the needle for me at all, never will, sorry.

I'd say a bit above. Not super above but definitely "more" than I expected

Also the screen features was way more than I expected.

If it wasn't for MP4, id be disappointed. I get Mario Kart World has more players and is open world, and both of those aspects will make the game a lot of fun, but it just didn't wow me visually when compared to previous entries. DK didn't either. It might be the YouTube footage though … idk. The third party offerings didn't impress me at all and some looked horrendous if I'm being honest. So I voted "in line with expectations". I need to see more Nintendo first party to feel otherwise.

PS4 baseline was my expectation, and they managed it. 3rd parties prove it.

My only big disappointment is that the Nintendo games don't really push the hardware, MKWorld doesn't look better than MK8 and DKBananza doesn't look that much better than Odyssey. MP4 is a NS1 upgrade and looks more impressive than both.

Need to see more but at the moment it looks good coming from Mario Kart World and Metroid Prime 4's videos. We should see more of it in these next few years when Metroid Prime 5, another AAA Mario, and when the next AAA Zelda comes to show us more of it's powers. I also do like how they improve on other things too like making Mario Kart World actually having 24 players.

Why are you entering in those thead then? Is somebody forcing you? We need to call the 911?

Better than Switch was at launch.

However, I foresee hardware limitations being an issue again. Not to the extent that Switch has, but probably in line with XSS.

What? I think that you need the watch the treehouse gameplay, MKW looks way better than MK8. Agree with you with DKBananza.

It's better than I thought it would be. It seems to be roughly on par with the Series S and even exceeds it in some ways. Plus it has a fully modern feature set. I don't know what chip they are using but it seems to be better than the one long rumored as far back as the "Switch Pro."

ps4 ish specs are impressive, technically graphics haven't jumped much out side of resolution and framerate this gen, so with the upscalling tech, and ps4 ish specs, they are going to be able to give you some of the best handheld visuals out there.

SW2 surpassed my expectations, graphics are shittier than I thought they would be. Game chat looks choppy and bad iq, that shitty demo looks like a GBA game and you have to pay to try that shit.
Same kiddie games, lacking cool FXs.

It may be a less than XS/PS5 level although it seems to be in the ballpark and anything running on PS5 will be easily portable to Switch 2.

For a handheld this beyond almost everyone's expectations!

Better graphics but worse frame rate than I expected. Why did I expected 60fps when the XSS is always at 30 even with a laptop class CPU? I don't know. I must be stupid. So over my reasonable expectations and below my stupid expectations?

I voted "In line with" but it's really a bit below my expectation because I thought Nintendo would ship the T239 SoC with a higher TDP and with a bigger battery but on the high order bits are basically in line. Other than using a more modern node for the SoC there's not too much they could've done to build a better device. Architecturally (i.e. not perf) it's the best dedicated gaming system around until at least next-gen consoles or some UDNA handheld comes around.

It'll be more telling when we get more third party stuff, but I'm happy with what we got - actually a little bit surprised. I wanted Nintendo games with good image quality and frame rates again. It could be 30 or 60fps, but it's got to be stable. We appear to have that. I didn't expect games like MP4 to be pushing 4K60. That's actually impressive.

I was one of the few people that actually loved the WiiU because it was great games that - for Nintendo's ambitions - looked good and ran properly. I am really excited to be going back to that no-nonsense presentation that just works.

Absolutely exceeded, which for Nintendo, hasn't happened in many a moon. It actually has me thinking about buying third-party titles for the system, which blows my mind. Online features dependant. If this thing matches what the PS5/XBOX can do in terms of chat/invites/e.t.c and actually works, oh boy.

Nintendo and online, have been oil and water, but if they nail it, finally, there is a world where me and the boys get sick of playing COD, and switch over to Mario Kart, or play a few rounds of F-Zero, or Mario Party.

Thats crazy. Nintendo online has sucked giant ass forever, thus, I just use the online features to play the back catalog. (GBA fire emblem currently. )

Combine modern graphics+Nintendo titles+real online features? The graphics are there. Let's see how the rest pans out.

Exceeded. This truly looks like something that belongs on PS5. Shinen are master of their work.

That cables on the right side are perfectly round, the asteroids have a ridiculous amount of polygons and there are so many of them.

It's weird. Some third party titles look impressive, specially the ones that use RT. Nintendo own games look weak. I expect them to be the best looking ones, but they are very mid looking. Unreal engine ports look like switch 1 games.

Kept my bar super low..turns out it probably a bit less powerful than a PS4 (pro?). Thing has ray tracing but I honestly can't see that being utilised (yet alone docked) unless players want one hour battery and severely paired back textures ..😅

Incoming 540p - 1080p games at £80 a pop.

Oooff.
