Duskbloods looks interesting, but I have to see more. I wasn't really into Night Reign, despite being invited by FROM to participate in the stress test...
IT wasn't for me. I don't like playing Souls(likes) with people, unless it's Bloodborne... I just wish BB had a more MP friendly deal going for it. It would be the perfect game for MP-help/Coop.

Miyazaki:

A while back, we had the opportunity to meet with Nintendo to discuss ideas, and during this discussion, we presented a rough outline for The Duskbloods.

It was still very bare-bones at the time – more a loose string of ideas than a proper presentation. The concept itself was different from anything we had done before, and Nintendo seemed very interested in helping make it a reality. So that's when the project kicked off.

Maybe I should reword my post - both parties were talking to each other about game ideas, Duskbloods was the idea pitched and Nintendo rolled with it.

Ah yes I remember reading this. You can infer that From approached Nintendo, but you can't say with absolute certainty that they initiated the meeting. But it's clear that From presented the concept of the game to Nintendo and they liked it.

What the fuck are you talking about

I'm confused with From projects.
We have Nightreign that is basically a mini game (by From standards) of recycled assets and this that also seems to be smaller scope but focused on MP.
They don't seem to be big enough to have 3 teams, so does that mean they aren't working on their next big AAA game?

No clue as to how many teams they have, but I'd speculate that the Nightreign team would be smaller than the team working on this. It's also reasonable to assume that Miyazaki has been working on this in conjunction with Elden Ring. They're definitely working on the next AAA, my guess is 2027/2028 is when we will see it.

Pvp pve? No sp?
"Developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2; 'THE DUSKBLOODS' is a PvPvE title with online multiplayer at its core, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes."

You can consider it single player if you ignore it will likely require NSO(Online multiplayer focus) and that the other 7 players dropped in the same map as you are "Invaders" with unpredictable AI.

I dont mind them trying this out but both this and Nightteign sound like yet two more GAAS projects that should have been canned. But theyre going forward with it, probably too deep in dev to drop it. But I hope they can take the failure and move on if thats how it goes. And shrug it off and not let it affect their integrity as a singleplayer developer.

Both seem like experimental titles, if anything it can only improve the multiplayer aspects of the single player games they end up developing moving forward.

I was very skeptical of Nightreign, then played a shitton of the network test and loved it. Duskbloods might as well be pretty good, but I hate the fact it exists. Not because it's on Nintendo, because this is what Miyazaki has been doing for the last 3 years, instead of delegating it to a junior and making a new current gen FROM game that doesn't look like it could run on a 360. After all the money they made on Elden RIng that shit is embarrassing.

From has said many times that they won't make exclusive games anymore, so this is very likely a timed exclusive.

Sorry to break it to the Gigachad of a Gaffer like Gigabowser but those are unfortunately bullshots, aka fake, so many companies participate in those lowly tactics that we take it for granted nowadays, still, cant judge final game on the quality of its bullshots unfortunately.
On a positive side game is sheduled for 2026, maybe even holidays 2026 so plenty time to improve, we are in no rush and absolutely not losing hope for this masterpiece to look and play magnificently :)

Im curious about the amount of pve content in this. Will there be bosses like in nightrein? Nintendo online + froms dogshit netcode gonna be hilarious

maybe
But this is Nintendo, so far the games they finance remain exclusive..
It would be very stupid for Miyazaki to say that they won't do exclusive games anymore, that they don't want to limit the amount of players of their games and then do an exclusive game after that.
Even with a timed exclusive I'm sure the media will be questioning him for that soon.

When did he say it? Also maybe he meant single player

In an interview when asked about a possible Bloodborne sequel (after Elden Ring released)
I don't see why he would separate SP from MP games, since their games all have a big MP component.
