It's gotta be happening. 100%! You can book it!

Yeah they would never, sadly. The attention span of younger gamers and many older gamers are shit. Only classic DnD fans and crpgs gamers would shift through the text and they know this. They dev for the most common denominator.

I kind of don't want them messing with the game too much outside of texture and art, well and improving lod as modern systems can handle it without that crazy 300ft and details going to crap (although it does coincide with my real life shitty -4.5 with astigmatism vision, lol....)
Go play on OpenMW! You can set visibility to as many tiles as your computer can handle, custom resolution, etc.. runs so awesome on modern systems, but effectively the vanilla game! I love it.. Combine that with Tamriel Rebuilt (https://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/), which is adding the Morrowind mainland and entire questlines, including the missing great houses in a "vanilla" style, and you've got more Morrowind than most can handle..! That's not even getting into the development of provinces Skyrim and Cyrodill in this engine, "vanilla" inspired. The best Elder Scrolls lives on, better than ever before..!

If they've replaced the OST with some generic slop, shall not bother.

Remember Starfield OST? Me neither.

(Actually the main theme was aight)

Jeremy soule, the man might be a terrible person(i dont know the full story), but his music was unmatched. I still have the whole soundtrack on my phone when i need to relax. Dont know if they can hope to replace him for es6.
Truly one of the biggest mistakes they have already made with TES VI.

Oblivion was my first WRPG. Came from nothing but JRPGs, so it was a culture shock. I hated it at first, but kept at it, and eventually put 500 hours into the PS3 version.

I'm interested in the remake since I have a soft spot for the game. It's aged poorly and I've tried replaying it multiple times, but I just can't lol.
Same here. Only played FF and such before. Fell in love with Oblivion from minute one. Must have done every single dungeon of the game. By the time I was finished I was literally done with the game therefore could not bring myself to play Shivering Isles to this day. lol

Same happened to me with Skyrim by the way, where I didn't play the addons until I replayed the game on PS5. They were a huge disapointment for me though. Miles away from the main game.
Hope Shivering Isles holds up better when I finally tackle it now with the Remake. Heard only good things about it.

Very true but on PC I'm sure it can be adjusted. Still, who the hell thought making everything brown was a good design choice. It makes everything look dead.
We should wait for the full reveal before making any statement. Maybe it's "brown" because those screens are taken at dawn or something else.
I'd say wait and see.

OK. this thread asks for GENUINE oblivion screenshots.
So happens I was always taking screenshots.
It is time to share my oblivion screenshots from ...10-15 years ago?! 20?!
Yes. Some of the screenshots are so old, they are 1024x768

I was obsessed with this game.
pc shots. maxed out. Always.
edit: It's impossible to explain how good this game fucking looked and felt. It was incredible. and it had physics on top of all!

The colors of the original are so good ❤️

All that stuff about Jeremy Soule was made up bs.

Might. He was simply accused. There were no charges pressed or evidence presented. If Bethesda tries to scrub his work that will be extremely screwed up. He is a talented artist that brought life to the Elder Scrolls series. I cannot imagine Elder Scrolls 6 without his music either. These companies need to start protecting their talent instead of canceling them the moment things get a little rough.

Yeah, if this is true, this would be the biggest shadow drop ever lol. Doing that with an Elder Scrolls game, Bethesda are fucking lunatics
A different company is doing it but yeah still true since it is an Elder Scroll game and Bethesda probably has the final say on whether they should shadow drop it or not. A Elder Scroll game is among one of the biggest games in gaming history only behind something like a new GTA so it'll be the biggest shadow drop ever. 100 in sneak.

Hard pass, if they will not use OST.

I listen Soule's TES songs a lot while working but I can not name a single soundtrack from Starfield. It was too Fallout 4-ish. I also listened TES: Blades soundtrack. Same issue.

Bethesda needs to work with another composer for TES VI if Soule is not returning.

I'm 75% on this being shadowdropped because it's a bad remake and they need the sales before word gets out.

It just makes no sense.

Well if its indeed next week than its a skip for now. Its gonna be Expedition 33 week no matter what.

Man, I don't think I've ever been this torn between two releases in the same window.

For me, the best case scenario would be if they just announce this next week and release sometime in May.

That's kind of my thoughts as well. Why would you shadow drop a remake of a game like Oblivion? No hype. No build up. Nothing. And is there even going to be an event for it?

Something doesn't pass the smell test

I guess the more photo realistic something is, the more generic it's gonna look.

Reality looks a certain way, so games that try to match that will all move in the same direction. It's really boring. But anyway.. it is what it is..

I don't think anyone would be complaining about the realistic look if the color grading maintained the overall aesthetic of Cyrodiil, especially near the Imperial City. Lush green grass and trees, deep blue skies. Instead, we get a brown tint to everything. Oblivion's pastoral landscapes exist in the real world, too.

True which is why I really like the appearance of games such as Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Mario Kart World etc cause the bright vibrant colors combined with nice clarity makes them way more appealing and age way better than all the high graphic realistic games.

I'm gonna use your example for the also stealth released Ninja Gaiden 2 black : I'm pretty sure now that the MFers over at Koei Tecmo knew exactly what they were doing since the game is essentially just Sigma 2 on UE5 and had people knew that beforehand they (KT) would have definitely lost some sales, and hey, it worked since even die hard NG fans like myself got - basically -duped into buying it since most of us were expecting the OG NG2 with updated GFX etc.

That release/game is literally the worst 50 Euros I've spent these last few months, if I wanted to fucking play Sigma 2 I'd have bought that at a discounted price and not the 50€ that "Black" released for.

Back to Oblivion now : just like you said, something doesn't pass the smell test, guess we'll have to wait and see...

I will go out on a limb and suggest Xbox are shadow dropping titles to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of Xbox 360. We've had NG2 shadowdropped, Oblivion is next, and the Gears Trilogy remake is well known.

Its Microsoft though, so no event or marketing make sense to me, I think this is 100% on for next week at this point.

After morrowind, I was always unbelievably hyped for bethesda releases, but now i find i'm not at all anymore. If it gets good feedback, I will probably bite though. I do hope it's a true remake and that it's not just ue5 slapped over the original game.

I also don't understand why you would shadow-drop a release like Oblivion the same week as another RPG (Clair Obscur) hits Game Pass.

While Clair isn't an Xbox exclusive, it is a new IP that was revealed during an Xbox showcase, so clearly, MS has some interest in the title's success. Oblivion's release the same week will completely overshadow it, despite the fact that Clair seems to be getting a lot of positive press from people who have played it.

Something is weird here

As long as it stays away from doom as well we are cool haha.
