OK. this thread asks for GENUINE oblivion screenshots.
So happens I was always taking screenshots.
It is time to share my oblivion screenshots from ...10-15 years ago?! 20?!
Yes. Some of the screenshots are so old, they are 1024x768

I was obsessed with this game.
pc shots. maxed out. Always.
edit: It's impossible to explain how good this game fucking looked and felt. It was incredible. and it had physics on top of all!

I'll add some screens from the X360 version running in BC mode on Series X

Such a magical game.

Assuming you're talking about Avowed, I had no issues with that and you could deactivate it in the settings so I never saw it anyway.

Yeah revisiting Oblivion will be awesome, and going through the starter area and experiencing that step out moment will beat everything if they don't mess it up. OG Oblivion already have the best start in a game ever imo. And there is so much I haven't done in it since I always messed up how to level up properly and started over before reaching the end.

But this is UE5, right? That makes me nervous… People always complain about creation engine but few games has as many world simulation systems running in the back and allow as deep modding as Bethesda's RPGs.
I fear that it'll be a pretty but shallow version of one of my fav games.
Oh nah, I never touched Avowed, haha. I'm just saying in general because it's almost always on just that screen in most cases. I did think it was neat of their devs to add the toggle to turn it off. I mean, more options don't hurt anybody, haha.

Yeah, UE5 being present can certainly be nerving. I haven't played it in SO long, and I was waiting for Skyblivion to be done to jump back in. I loved it a GREAT deal, so knowing this is definitely coming is super exciting, albeit a bit nerving lol. I just don't want it being mishandled, at least I know I'm not alone, haha.

A shadow drop would be an interesting experiment and i could see it working. It would definitely generate a good amount of hype, excitement, and word of mouth.

Will they support mods?
Really hope so and not just basic reshape or skin mods that basically any game could do but actual advance no limit mods with a creation kit.

It's still a win win for us either way cause we still got Skyobivion with the mods and this Oblivion remake should still be very fun to try out.

This reminds me of that remake someone did on steam I forget what it is called! Where you start off and you have visions from your parents or something! Anyone recall this game and if it's worth checking out?!?

It was a mod for one of the elder scrolls

It's going to be interesting to see if they fix leveling, level scaling and mob variety as well as spruce up Oblivion Gates as those just drag after novelty wears off.

And of course how is modding support going to work.

Great shots, I love this game so much. It was so cozy. The same cozy feeling as running around Elwynn forest in WOW back in the day.

Avowed uses all the features of Unreal 5 and looks damn good especially with the draw distances. Looking forward to this.

I don't think this is gonna look as good as Avowed, feels like this is gonna be a Halo: Anniversary thing. The old game's bones under the UE5 sheen will still keep it from being like a brand new developed TES game.

Game would take a massive effort to touch up. Get controller support on PC and put in some of the Skyrim se improvements to replace that old atomic bloom effect. That would go a long way. Maybe they should work on those faces a bit too...

WOW is the Best fantasy mmorpg and Elder Scrolls is the best single player fantasy rpg.

imagine a WoW 2 MMORPG someday.

I was wrong about it being fake and also thinking it'll be a remaster instead of a remake but that was before I saw the actual screenshots lol. And yes after seeing all these confirmed screenshots, it indeed looks like a remake instead of a remaster.

Lol good sport. I wasn't trying to be mean.

dont like the color palette, original looked more natural and beatiful ,i think its just unreal engine 5, of course grraphcly it looks better but i think art wise it looks like eso

Oblivion was my first WRPG. Came from nothing but JRPGs, so it was a culture shock. I hated it at first, but kept at it, and eventually put 500 hours into the PS3 version.

I'm interested in the remake since I have a soft spot for the game. It's aged poorly and I've tried replaying it multiple times, but I just can't lol.

The night before oblivion was released I watched greg kasavin from gamespot (hes now a dev in supermassive games) streaming the unreleased game for the first time. Good memories.

I remember first playing this on my shitty Compaq laptop. I had to play it windowed and lower resolution but boy was I happy to just getting it running at all.

I'm excited for this! Screenshots look great

I'm not sure how any of this makes sense.

If the game is a simple rerelease with modern options then it's kinda useless for PC and the current BC version does the job on Xbox.

If the game is a proper remaster then it must be expensive and it would make zero sense to shadow drop it and release it at the same time as other MS games.

Now considering how bad at marketing MS is, anything is possible but it would be a shame to treat such a masterpiece like that.
The game running in BC on xbox still has the constant load hiccups and the awful LOD draw distance.

I remember watching gameplay videos on YouTube that same night and practically dying of anticipation waiting to get it the next day. They were popping up everywhere. It was the first new release to be heavily covered on YouTube IIRC.

yep. same here. It was crazy. Was like the first live stream ever. game looked insane as he played on 360

I have to say when Oblivion initially released on Xbox 360 it was the first game that truly looked next gen and not possible on previous consoles.

The full video sadly is not available anymore, but here are some highlights from that stream :)

I did not watch this back in the day, but I did watch some of his Skyrim stream!!

Amazing stuff really

It was a very similar situation for me, came from jrpgs until I discovered Morrowind.

Played jrpgs like FFIV, FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, Xenosaga 1/2, Star Ocean 3, Shining Tears from my junior high to early high school years then randomly bought Morrowind in the store for the Xbox cause I like the case and back cover and the amount of content it promised from reading the back cover.

First WRPG I've ever played. Was way more complex and different than every rpg I've played. Gave up at first but months later, I decided to go back to it and really learn and try to beat it and it easily became one of my favorite rpg games. From that point on it led me into other wrpgs like That Oblivion, Fallout 3, 4, NV , Witcher 3. later Morrowind did became my favorite when I get it again for PC with tons of mods.

I remember my true "next gen" moment on the 360 was in Condemned.

I hit one of the homeless drug addicts in the jaw with a pipe, and his teeth came flying out, and I thought to myself "This is next gen!"

It'll be interesting to see how this visually stacks up against Avowed when it releases. I wonder if it'll have a 40fps balanced mode? We will see soon.

Enderall? I remember getting that free on Steam and checking it out for a few hours.

Literally same lol.

I bought Oblivion and Demon's Souls at the same time. I was just a kid, and each game was $60, so it set me back quite a bit. I hated both of them lmao. Oblivion because I wasn't used to that style of RPG, and Demon's Souls because, well, it was the first Souls game and I definitely wasn't expecting that.

I was out of money to buy anything else though, so I forced myself to play through them. I started with Demon's Souls, and after spending months putting hundreds of hours into that, I went back to Oblivion and did the same. Fell in love with both games eventually.

Already liking this more based on the screenshot and since it's Elder Scroll, seeing the location, npcs, enemies already makes me like it way more even in appearance than avowed.

My god, it's happening! Oblivion absolutely blew my mind back on release, was nothing like it in terms of exploration and open world interactivity, getting out of that sewer tunnel is still one of my top10 gaming moments. The new screenshots are a brilliant upgrade in terms of fidelity but damn they kind of fumbled big time in terms of artstyle and lighting style. Oblivion was all about the heavy bloom and fantastical cozy lighting. It was very colorful and exaggerated in a way that made playing it feel cozy, comfortable, striking and otherworldly at the same time.

The new screenshots basically threw a heavy-handed brown filter on everything to the point it completely dominates the color and loses any semblance of style. It might seem nitpicky but i shit you not it contributes alot to the charm of exploring in an open world game. I used to walk around at sunrise in oblivion for hours just to enjoy the lighting. I hope they change this, or if not, they allow reshade/lighting mods on consoles so we havea a choice because the look does not match Oblivion. I would throw money at them if they get this right, as this game, for all the hate it gets, was a real game changer at the time. Jeremy Soule's music in this was simply unbeatable.

Amazing you found those old screenshots. Its a shame taking screenshots was not a thing on PS3.
