I did. I use that in the projector room for couch co op etc.Would be interested to note how many people who upgraded kept their base PS5?
I'm also on a 1440p VRR monitor and I find it to be the sweet spot for modern consoles. Many games are in the 1440p range on performance modes so they runs at the native resolution which is great. When occasionally a game runs at 4k it's still great, you get supersampling which makes image quality look pristine. I don't think jumping to a 4k screen will be an upgrade by itself, probably the opposite, but OLED will certainly look better with the downside that 30fps games will feel even choppier and by some reports "unplayable" .Sorry for the necro, but this seems like the best thread to get some answers.
I currently have both an Xbox Series X and a PS5 Pro (birthday gift from my wife — bless her), and I've been playing them on the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ monitor:
27", WQHD (2560x1440), IPS, 165Hz, 1ms, G-SYNC Compatible, HDR10, etc. (yeah, I just copy-pasted that from the specs).
Before this, I was gaming on a Sony X90H TV, but that thing was a huge disappointment. The local dimming doesn't work with VRR, so you have to pick between stuttery gameplay or a washed-out image. Major letdown.
Anyway, here's my question:
When I play Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 Pro with this monitor, it's hands down the best-looking game I've ever seen — like, individual face hairs on characters level of detail. But then I boot up something like Oblivion Remastered on Series X, or Cyberpunk, and it looks like hot garbage by comparison. Helldivers 2 is somewhere in between.
So what's going on here?
Are these consoles downsampling from 4K to 1440p, and is that why Horizon looks so insanely good on this monitor? Or is it just that Horizon is an 4K outlier, and most other games this console generation just don't hold up when viewed on a monitor at close distance?
I'm considering switching to a 4K OLED monitor, but I'm wondering if there's really any benefit for current-gen consoles. Will it make a noticeable difference, or is 1440p basically the sweet spot for these consoles, especially if you're sitting close?
Would really appreciate any insight!

I own astro bot and gran turismo. Both last of us remakes and ghost of tsushima directors.
Think that's about it.
I got the platinum last year for Stellar Blade(became one of my favourite games of all time). Got a pro and disc drive in December. Wanted to replay Stellar Blade, If you don't mind me asking. Which modes for the Pro are there in Stellar Blade and the difference? I can probably watch DF. But I just can't watch those bunch of creepsbuy stellar blade you fucking scrub.
play it in PRO mode. It's the one using pssr and running 80fps. looks the best
not pro max. that's just 4k 50fps no pssr. looks like shit.

Im sure I can dig some out. Didn't ghost of tsushima get one? I still have the dlc to do.
tempted by all 3 of them. I have them on gamespass, but the have ended up with decision paralysis between buying them on the pro, or playing for free on gamespass…and realising if I do buy them, I realllly need to cancel gamespass. Is the pro version quite noticeable? Will I regret playing on the series X? have any of them done anything worthwhile with the dualsense?Oblivion, Indiana Jones, Clair Obscur are all PS5 Pro enhanced.
Having just finished Split Fiction on it with my wife.. Yeah I'm pretty satisfied lol.
I don't think so
Oblivion on the PRO has its advantages but still is a remaster no worth paying for it if You can get it on GPtempted by all 3 of them. Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated, regardless of your avatar....just kidding. I actually have Forspoken, but it's still sealed in my backlog. One day, I will play itPro and PRO MAX modes.
PRO - PSSR 80fps. does great job at removing all the textures shimmering,
PRO MAX - just raw 4k at lower fps. I don't like it.

that reminds me.. I wanted to pay Signalis....Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated, regardless of your avatar....just kidding. I actually have Forspoken, but it's still sealed in my backlog. One day, I will play it
You should, it's one of the most profound gaming experiences I've have ever had. Fell in love with the game and replayed it many times. Wonder what the devs would accomplish, if they ever did a Silent Hill game. But their like 2 or 3 people so that will never happen. Signalis is really a crazy experience. You'll feel sadness, despair, pain etc. I can't describe my experience with Signalis. As I said earlier in my post, it's a really profound experience. I still think of it constantly and the soundtrack is top tierthat reminds me.. I wanted to pay Signalis....
Yah it's not been played I don't think since that Russian bioshock with the sexy robots. Even then it didn't save me anything as I donated towards a drone for Ukraine to offset giving money to RussiaOblivion on the PRO has its advantages but still is a remaster no worth paying for it if You can get it on GP
The other two Yep think perform and looks so Much better on the PRO.
Owning GP and a PRO at the same time leads You to those kind of doubts, I cancelled GP because this Even before getting my PRO.
Yep lol.Did Pro get you laid?

Unless someone is totally itching to get a new PS/Xbox after any price hikes, I'd reco just wait till next gen. It's already 2025 and tariffs surely wont last a few years.I'm debating on getting one in case it goes to $900 but would rather wait for some rewards to come in + apparently ps6 is in 2026. If it was 500, easy call but 700+, it's tough.
You get tons. In genera here we want fps more than shadows and the pro does an amazing job of games at 60 fps and look greatIt's nice, but just like the base PS5 we're not getting barely anything this generation that actually showcases the hardware significantly.
This generation has just been full of developers and publishers explaining away compromises in their games instead of making anything that feels innovative.
"You can have great graphics or you can have performance, but not both at the same time" should be the tagline of the PS5.
I don't think that's really the consensus, though. Most of the games feel like they started development on the PS4. They look really nice sometimes but we haven't gotten much of a "wow holy shit" since Demon's Souls. You get tons. Yep lol.
Demand for the Pro has certainly been slower in EU/MENA than in the US.Don't know about the prices in different countries but, here in Pasta Land the Pro can be found for as low as 650 Eurodollars from 3rd party sellers/smaller shops.
Maybe this didn't sell as much and they want to clear out the remaining stock ? Don't know, either way, yeah, 650 Euros, wish I could have waited this time, and oh, the once impossible to find 120 Eurodollars disc drive add on that can be found easier nowadays for 80 Eurodollars just adds insult to injury G'dammit...
Doing the trade and buy around launch was no-brainer territory. With trade-in prices going up on launch consoles and the Pro price holding for now, you're in dummy territory if you don't upgrade or get your Pro now.i purchased my pro last week.
for me it was well worth the upgrade for some games i have.
and for future games Death Stranding 2 and GTA VI and so on.
I traded in my old PS5 a couple weeks ago and now have money to buy games for it. Got Indy, probably will pick up DS2 and maybe MGS3 Delta if it is good.Doing the trade and buy around launch was no-brainer territory. And you're good until fall of '27 at the earliest and second half Playstation is just beginning. But yeah, the right TV is a must for the Pro especiallyI traded in my old PS5 a couple weeks ago and now have money to buy games for it. Also I think I am happier with it now that I have a modern TV.
Bojjjii! You did it?!? Glad you're enjoying it friend.Overall Pro is decent upgrade, I didn't expect mindblowing things. I planned to buy it few months from now (Q4, GTA6?) but decent deal persuaded me now.

My biggest gripe with the pro is just that it's really up to the devs to support it. There's really not much of a reason Cyberpunk didn't get a pro patch for example.
Drop the resolution, toggle on a few ray tracing settings and throw on PSSR and it would have been a massive step up from base PS5.
Feels a bit anticlimactic having the extra power under the hood, but being at devs mercy to properly push those pixels.
