I find that I have a lot of trouble with flying enemies - anyone have a good strategy for taking them out besides just wasting action points shooting at them?

It seems like parrying does a shitload of damage against flying enemies. I've just been shooting them 1 time each to hit their weak point, then after that 1 parry is enough to kill them (at least where I'm at, which is pretty early)

It would be wise of square to absorb this team and let them make final fantasy 18. I imagine 17 is well underway, so these guys could take care of 18.

Took Gustave out of my party. He seems to have the least interesting abilities so far

Please no. Let them do their own thing, that they are passionate about. I imagine that's partly why this game is as good as it is.

His kinda of jack of all trades but master of none, it can heal himself and buff attacks for party members and does decent damage if his mechanical arm is fully charged.

But he doesn't have ability to do big damage like other party members do.

Or let them do their own thing? I much prefer they do new IP or even sequel for this game.

Im still in act 1 after 15 hours. Not rushing, trying to explore and do everything. Last time a game had this kind of reception was BG3. Its insane how good the combat is. I usually trying to avoid it in other turn based games, but here im looking forward to the next fight. The animations, the real time stuff, the build variations, the fucking MUSIC. Not to mention that this game gets rid of all the bloat other jrpgs have. Mature characters, insanely good VA, great captivating story.

That is good that the combat is actually enjoyable in this game. I haven't played it because i'm busy with Oblivion but once i finish that i will probably try out Clair Obscur.

Something I didn't realize before:

In French...

"Clair" can be used to describe something that is "clear," "bright," or "light".

"Obscur" can be used to describe something that is "unknown", "hidden", or "dark".

anyone know how to evade these self destruct dolls on the third map ? cant find the timing no mater what i do
the timing is difficult to put down but I managed to dodge them when they self destruct several of times.

Practice makes perfect.

I'm in the red tree village area and experiencing a just a tiny drag in pacing. I'm currently just nitpicking bc the game is off to a great start.

Gustave is the best character at breaking an enemy which is key on specific bosses or else you do no damage.

So for maelle, whenever I choose a skill she changes stance? What do I do if I want to stay in the same stance like virtuoso, do I attack instead of a skill? I saw a guide saying not to end your turn on offensive stance but turns ends the moment I use a skill lol

There is skill she has I think its called furry rush or something that will keep her virtuoso stance.

Does that game offer an easy mode that will make me experience the story without really having to git gud? I absolutely hate turn based games, but everything else about this game looks very interesting, especially the story.

Game is astonishing. Just fought the first merchant and I'm in awe of how well this has all come together.

The music, the art, the graphics, the combat system, the acting.

Ubisoft have a lot to answer for caging up talented devs like this for years on end.

Sure but from my experience I managed break enemies much easier with Gustave.

Depends on how you're playing. You can get 10 sparks with Gustav quite quickly if you spam the first ability that hits multiple times (Lumiere Assault), but it's also quite easy to use Lune's break skills if you focus on building up to them and use Gustav's marking shot and "powerful" abilities in the meantime to keep up the damage output.

These are the skills you can unlock from Lune very early on that can break:

Never played anything like this, what other games are similar? (dont want it to be jrpg)
Literally all you can compare it to is JRPGs because that's in essence what it is. A mature themed jrpg.

The combat is turn based but engaging at all times because you're never hands off both on attack and defense turns.

It's more action oriented because of that.

Yep, and even then the only other JRPG's that you can point to with similarities regarding the battle system are Lost Odyssey, Resonance of Fate and Shadow Hearts. But even those are nowhere near as engaging/demanding as this is from a player input/skill perspective.

If you're not focused while in battles in this game it will punish you severely.

In atmosphere? Nier Automata. That one also has some RPG aspects but is mostly action-oriented.
In gameplay it's without a doubt Final Fantasy 7-10. That's what this game primarily draws its gameplay from.

to be honest, nothing. It's really special in that regard.

As I said in my earlier post, this is a turning point for gaming. Games will be compared to this for years.

Are the locations with Danger! written their names change when I level up enough?

Does the Danger! disappear? Cause its not worth it
