Found quite an interesting article on current state of Mihoyo and Chinese gacha in general (machine translated)

- ZZZ made around 1 bil in 2024 (Genshin and HSR around 2.5b)
- Competition is rising
- Players becomes more demanding (explicit split for male/female focused games mentioned)
- Smaller games looking for niches
Good find! I'm going to read it later once I'm done with some stuff in HSR.

That said, I'm actually impressed that ZZZ made around $1 billion in just half a year since its launch. I thought it would be around half that, maybe a tad more (I know that the launch month and Miyabi's banner brought a shitton of $$$ for hoyo).

I don't have evelyn/burnice/caesar, so I can't test it for you, but your options seem rough.

I managed to beat shiyu 5, in JUST about 5 minutes with team, one being anby/pulchra/lucy and team two being zhu yuan/jane/astra; evelyn and burnice should be better than zhu/jane though.
No personal w-engines on any of the s-ranks, used 11's on anby lol.

I feel like the anby team is pretty lackluster unless you have trigger, I honestly get better results with harumasa instead of anby; I don't have caesar so I can't say how far her support will take you.
I feel like your team one should be fine, evelyn and burnice are strong and astra is a godlike support, that team should be fine in shiyu 7.
Your team two is missing trigger; you're missing several strong options for the second team in general, miyabi, yanagi, vivian, jane, ellen even.

However I also paired anby with vivian and astra, and beat their side of shiyu 5 in less than two minutes, you might get better results pairing evelyn and burnice with someone else/caesar, and have astra support your anby team while kicking off pulchra.

Finally Yixuan gameplay leaked. Looks like she has martial arts combat kit with a few ranged attacks.

She reminds me of Rei Hino from Sailor Moon a bit with her fire attacks as well as the use of Shinto talismans during combat. Yixuan combat as well as her element is different of course, but still, the influence is there.

A few Character select and idle animations:

And her second costume (not a fan, to say the least):

Looks like a few characters (Pulchra, Nicole, Lucy, Koleda and Astra) will have conditions for their core skills changed to include Rapture characters for activation, Yixuan will be the first Rapture character.

There'll be new boss mats and drive discs specifically for future Rapture characters and Yixuan - start saving your energy and gold disc mats, ma dudes.

The most recent SD? I found it to be so easy, I don't remember my time, but I think it went very quickly. I'll have to check. 5 mins seems like a long time.

Edit.
Ya, about 1'30 each

That leaked Yixuan gameplay looks pretty dope. Hopefully, I'll have enough polys by the time she releases to secure her since my funds are a tad low after pulling 4 limited units in a row. 🤞

Yeah, I also like her combat kit and it looks cool. It'll be interesting to see the pulls calculation for 2.0 update, I don't expect much (just in case), but I hope that there'll be enough to get both characters at least.

I'm very intrigued about what segment Arknights Endfield will target. If Ananta has a compelling co-op / multiplayer integration it could attract lot of non-gacha normies.

Also curious Shift-Up plans on Nikke expansion.

Sorry Hugo

Sorry Lighter

So about the Yixuan leaks. Apparently this skin will be available for her once version 2.0 drops. I have some premium currency saved up, so I'll probably grab it if there are no other more interesting skins available.

New Eridu City Prepaid Electric Card

When commissioning Fairy to complete Hollow exploration missions, your HDD will operate under high load. This electric card cannot solve the problem of surging electricity bills, but it can effectively prevent your blood pressure from skyrocketing when you receive the bill.

Automatically completes commissions in HDD and obtains rewards (ignores first-time completion requirements).

So you're telling me that I can finally complete that boring and long af bangboo commission with a TV array without ever playing it?:messenger_open_mouth: YES, PLEASE!:messenger_sunglasses:

Just bumrushed the patch content over the past 2 days. A few quick thoughts.

  • Main story was pretty good. Nice cliffhanger towards the end regarding the proxies' abilities. I thought it was kinda silly that Vivian went directly to the nuclear option and gave herself an Ethereal booster shot out of nowhere. Didn't feel like her personality up to that point, but can probably be explained away at her being desperate to save the proxy. Still, could have been built up a bit more carefully, but I digress. Hugo going on and on about philosophy when you just want him to shut up and continue the story feels very much like HoYo's signature yapfests. Hate that shit. I also thought it was eyeroll-worthy when we find out that ACKSHUWALLY he never did a single bad thing in his life and everyone that died was killed by other people who blamed it on him or framed him. I know CN has weird rules where you can't have irredeemable playable characters, but holy shit that was lame.
  • Hugo was a lot more fun to play than I expected. That stun-eater move doesn't seem strong enough considering that Stun is the best time to lay down heavy damage, though. Maybe it's just his story version that didn't make it seem worth the sacrifice. Not going to roll him, but I liked his animations and kit otherwise.
  • Bangboo event is fine. Hate that you can lose points after a certain level. I probably won't stress about it since I already have all the Polychrome rewards from the easy part.
  • Food delivery event is just as lame as last time. Just menial virtual labor for a pittance.
  • Flower event was kinda fun. I really enjoyed how they interwove the story. It'd have been cooler if they didn't outright explain everything at the end, but I was enjoying piecing everything together until that point. Just like in Genshin, they don't let you "unlock" all of the puzzle pieces until the end, and then once you do, it's basically over. I'd have enjoyed more difficult requirements where you had to balance more of the traits or whatever. But it was fine. At this point I'd rather get more unique A-Rank W-Engines than more fucking useless bangboos, but oh well.
  • I ended up liking Yixuan a lot more than I expected. Instead of a "I'm so good at everything and I've got a 300 IQ and everything was all according to plan (like they did for Hugo)" she just seems like a low-key normal person with some smartass tendencies and a bunch of secrets. So far she doesn't seem like that trope of a character that we usually see from leaders of Chinese factions in HoYo games. I actually like her alt outfit shown earlier in the thread quite a bit too, so I'll probably pick that up when I get her.
Anyways, not bad. now I can just coast on whatever bangboo trash events they fill the gap with between now and 2.0

Wiw that's really good

I've been loving ZZZ so far, it really fulfill my bta dopamine needs. I used to Replay over and over the amazing sor4, I would still be playing it if Survival matchmaking wasn't a hot mess.

It was 100% in-line with her personality all this time she's been blamed for her ability and pushed people away for it, not only doesn't the proxy think it's bad, the proxy also saved her life, so it's not weird at all that she tried to change the future (trunks™) this time again, after it turned out somewhat badly the first time.
But also it was inevitable, vivian doing what she did is most certainly what makes that future come to pass because it led directly into proxy activating another one of their powers.

Didn't go through the story yet, but I will soon since Viv's time is almost up.

Hugo's main thing is double stunner team, but even then he's not worth it and completely niche, just like Harumasa. Like, Idk why on earth would anyone need him if they already have Miyabi, it's just pointless and nonsensical.

I wish there was an item in the game for AI to complete all this crap for you to do more interesting stuff instead.

Yeah, it's not bad and I kinda liked it too. Not the best one out there, but one of the better ones for sure and yet I think 1.7 is one of the worst filler updates they released in terms of content and besides the story stuff. At least I've more time to play something else :messenger_relieved:

Yea I agree that the story beats needed to happen, what I don't agree with is the lack of nuance and the 'asspull' way it was handled.

We go from fighting Dina's morphed form (which wasn't a difficult or unwinnable fight by any means - should have been IMO to help paint the desperation of the scene) directly to a cutscene where she blocks the laser, already had the juice in her hand. Then, somehow with no experience or explanation she injects herself and immediately knew how send a massive ether spike directly into Dina's core? It's these little things that I have problems with in ZZZ's writing. The story beats are fine, the outcome is the same, but the moment-to-moment writing in key scenes is very poor (again IMO). I totally like the outcome, and Viv's actions could be justified easily with some better setup/payoff. Like let's say she injects the serum, flops around, writhing in pain, trades blows with Dina as she comes to realize what she can control with her new Ether abilities, then they clash at close range and THEN she spikes Dina's core. Would have been epic and felt earned on how she ended up winning in that situation. Same problem I had with the S.Anby stuff. It does lead the story in the direction it needs to go, so from that angle it's good, but it could be better and it's chock full of tiny plot holes.

I'd rather see these pivotal moments played out more carefully and more detailed than sit there while Hugo waxes philosophical for 2 hours about how innocent and smart he is.

Maybe HoYo realizes that a lot of people skip/ignore the story outside of flashy cutscenes so they expect you to fill in the rest with your imagination, but with just a little bit more careful storyboarding, I think they could be lifted from "pretty good for a gacha" to "actually really good story". By the way, I love what they did with the reflection in her eyes in that one moment that showed the Proxy as a falling angel. That part was well done.

Anyways, it always sounds like I'm picking nits with this feedback, but I generally enjoy the stories they come up with in ZZZ. I just want them to improve instead of just handwaving the problems, I guess. I provide similar feedback in the surveys, but we all know how that goes.

I don't have a problem with the mechanics of his kit, but if you're giving up that damage window of enemies being stunned (and having reduced def/resistances), it should at least be Jane Assault-tier damage, if not more. The damage felt very under-tuned for how much opportunity cost you're sacrificing by immediately eating the stun bar.
I wish there was an item in the game for AI to complete all this crap for you to do more interesting stuff instead.
Would be a perfect use to make Fairy relevant again. "Here Fairy, do this shit and give me my Polychromes."

Wish we had a catch all gacha thread, but here it is anyway, just heard about
Etheria Restart?
Any of you guys following this one? Looks really cool, nice designs from what little I've seen from the trailer. Apparently it's turn based rpg?

I want to punch these people. It's like watchin' a movie for chase and action sequences, but completely skipping all story related parts. These people are brain-dead and need help.

Well, one thing to note here is that during trial in the story content (or during character's stories), you only have a chance to play suboptimal (to put it lightly) build of any given character they allow you to control, so I don't think it represents how good any given character really is. Prime example is Miyabi in her permanent story content - what I have now pales in comparison to what they allow you to use if you don't have her. But, from what I've seen online points to the fact that he's not good even outside trial sections, so... yeah, Idk what they thinking here, there's literally no point for him to be Ice attacker even if it kinda make sense cuz of who he is.

Like, why do we need another Physical defender with panda in 2.0 when a much better Caesar already exists (probably most people, if they're playing the game since 1.0, already have her and she's way more than just defender)? Panda is free and all, but why not A rank Ether defender? Well, cuz they want to sell you the S rank one later. But why Yu Fufu is a premium Fire stunner instead of Ether one (which makes more sense cuz we have every Ether class except Ether stunner) is even more stupid and pointless, cuz Lighter (and Koleda) already exists. Uh, idk wtf is the point in all this and I think they'll keep doing it even after 2.0 launch.

Yeah. Even though I don't like what they turned her into after shutdown and reactivation, I better have this version of her appear more often in the story than waste my time on these boring ass bangboo events. Well, at least soon I'll be able to complete the optional bangbgoo TV array quest and it'll finally disappear from the quest list, so that's good news, heh.

Speaking of news, it looks like lvl 60 is not the end point for MCs, characters, W-Engines and Bangboos. There's no telling if they'll do that during 2.X but they're thinking about lvl 70 and 80 cuz there's golden mats in the game already but in a form of unesed assest for now. Also, HZ BP will get 40 lvl rise to 160 in 2.0 next month(y)😎

Just noticed that my bangboo rolls keep piling up. Kinda wish I could covert them with a 10:1 ratio to encrypted master tapes. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Edit: Also, I wonder if Astra Yao will be rerun soon, because I kinda regret not pulling her, considering she's the best support in the whole game... Although I was very low on polys at the time, so yeah. :lollipop_pensive:

Now that you mentioned it. I pull for every single banbgoo (unless it's A rank random drop ones), but like vast majority of the ones I have are at lvl 0 and there's literally no need to lvl them up and waste resources. Also, what's the point in releasing A rank ones for example which have worse stats, why aren't they all S ranks with comparable stats to old old ones instead?

As for support. Well, Lucy and Nicole are great as support characters too, sure, not as good as Astra and you can't just bench them after one time use, but seeing Lucy launching one of her piggie with her bat never gets old and she has great i-frames. They'll rerun Astra before the end of the year 100%, you just better be ready for that in advance and you don't need her W-Engine so you don't have to worry about that too much. But of course, they can rerun her alongside some really cool new character just to fuck up your plans and make you spend...:messenger_grimmacing_

I have a feeling they'll do just that. I'll be on the lookout for some good top-up deals this coming anniversary so I can have some funds and be ready for when the inevitable happens.

But looking back, I was really screwed over by rng with Miyabi's banner (I spent 260 pulls to get both her and her sig weapon :lollipop_pensive: ). If that didn't happen, I would have had at least some pulls to try for Astra.

There's no reason to save bangboo pulls, just spend them and get those ranks up.
Do you go for the generalist S rank bangboos or the specialized ones? I don't like the forced team comp aspects of the faction ones. Mockingbird bangboo is better because it only requires one Mockingbird person in the party, so maybe I'll just roll for dupes of that.

Specialised first, I've got agent gulliver maxed out and he does quite a bit of damage, especially in lost void/hollow zero and that's even without his passive active, currently building snap because his damage is good and he gives a pretty nice damage boost to your dps and his passive doesn't matter either.
After him I'll rank up robin because he's a damage machine; the only A rank I use is brawlerboo, though knightboo seems to be decent as well.

I'll probably also build overtimeboo because his active looks funny, it's lame that he doesn't have a chain attack though.

Hugo trailer:

I actually like his design and moveset, very stylish. Unfortunately we got 2.0 coming up, and his niche is unproven at best, irrelevant at worst. Wish he was the free 5* male we got instead of Haramusa.
