~ State of Play | June 4, 2025 ~

Another awful show. No one sales have cratered this year and Xbox dominates the charts.

Its amazing to me that every single time they do a SOP people act like its supposed to be E3.

They do these every. 3. months.

/facepalm

Suda51 game is for me, maybe Nioh 3 and maybe Bloodstained. Everything else I thought was good are remasters/remakes, re-releases, sad.

Not sure if I would be into that 007 game...

Good things

Bond
Capcom thing
Mk kollection
Marvel fighter maybe
Yotie
Ff tactics
That was it

Oh and get bent looked cool.

Not a whole lot coming out this year for Sony. At least not exclusively. Good for LC bros for now I guess. Looking forward to Ninja Gaiden this year

Kinda crazy we reached a point when Sony do an event to show 90% third party content and 10% their own games. When MS do an event to show 90% their own game studios and 10% third party (not made by them).

Gotta be real... Silent Hill f was exciting after SH2R and I liked the initial trailer but that looked weirdly tame somehow? The atmosphere and all looked more like Slitterhead, not really sure what I'm getting at. I don't wanna talk shit though because I trashed SH2R in previews then loved it. Gotta learn a lesson some day!

Now for Sony to make this a win, make an agreement with the developers ofPRragmata, Silent hill f, Nioh, Romeo, 007 to be PS5 exclusive or at least time exclusives.

Really good stuff all in all.

Lots of stuff i actually want to play, which is odd for a Sony show.

Best dust off the PS5 and check out Nioh.

It wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it and some of the games look pretty enjoyable, though I admit I thought First Light didn't look very good at all.

I really expected RE9 to close it out so I'm surprised it didn't show up.

Still--lots of third party showings, SGF will probably have more reveals, Xbox is basically multiplatform at this point, so it is what it is.

Marathon was completely absent and I *highly* doubt it releases for a long time, if at all.

Isn't it supposedly four months out?

yep, people acting like because something wasn't announced today that means Sony doesn't have anything for the rest of the year 🙄

Ok, now that I'm done screaming into the void at no REIX.

Time for some real talk.

Where the fuck are Sony's marquee Western studios? No ND, no Soros, no Insomniac, no Marathon either, their "big" first party game releasing in a few months.

Bloodstained, Nioh 3, FF Tactics, 007, Suda's 51 new game. Honestly, one of the best events that Sony have done in recent year, I just miss Final Fantasy VII part 3.

Was a packed SoP, but packed with mediocre games. Surprised seeing Pragmata is still alive, Silent Hill f looks interesting. Hope the James Bond game ends up being good, some of the cutscenes felt a bit off, but 007 IP has alot of potencial for fun gameplay mechanics.
And the only PS 1st party game present ends up being a teaser for a future gameplay showcase, lol.

Silent hill, Pragmata (my fav of the show), and 007 look great. The sword of the sea could be nice as well. I'm intrigued by the one where you seem to choose storylines.

Bloodstained looked out standing too. Pretty good showing imo.

Ending on a stupid marvel game made no sense to me but whatever.

I told you guys, if Sony has something worth showing, they will do it in Summer Games Fest for the bigger exposure.

I'm just waiting for an announcement and date for Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster on Steam.

But yes, it was an entertaining State of Play, overall.

yea it's because internal Sony is in shambles. We keep saying this but people dont believe it.

They didnt even show Fairgame or Marathon

Did we watch the same show?
So the best announcements were Marvel Tokon, 007 and FFT?

Marvel Tokon looks mostly cool if not for Super Sentai Iron Man and more shoehorning Kamala Khan. First Light looks like a mid-level last gen game and isn't even exciting creatively - they've just reskinned Hitman even in the visual style. No sophistication.

You'll excuse me for not being impressed by yet another remaster even if it's FFT. Is anyone buying a PS5 or god forbid a Pro for that? I think not.

Its obvious by this point that sony shift to gaas was a disaster for their prime studios be it for diverting attetion to now cancelled projects or simple bad manegement choices because the focus was elsewhere

Limited live service: Check
Limited VR: Check
LIMITED indie : Check
Ghost of Yotei deep dive next month: I'll allow it
Still no Bloodborne : Check (duh)
Intergalactic gameplay: X
Naughty Dog 2nd project reveal : X

Bonus points for Marvel game, sword of the Sea Nioh 3 and showing more of Pragmata

A bit weird if they prioritize SGF over their own stream.

But I understand if it turns out to be true, Keighley brings in a built in audience of millions.

Getting to see Tactics, Pragmata, a lot of Japan goodness was bloody amazing.

What made it for me was that full showing of Bond. Wow! WOW!

Holy fuck, it's so good to get a full on Bond adventure again after so many years.

Thank you IOI. Thank you. Now I must sleep.

Really lovely to be here enjoying that with you guys.

Bring on the rest!

Only thing that let it down for me was the over-long Marvel game stuff at the end, other than that seemed like quite a lot of games I'm looking forward to.

Obvious standout for me is Nioh 3, because Nioh > Souls if combat/system depth matters to you.
