Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

I also get the idea that I had the highest percentage of completed runs like a week ago and that there's a much bigger rate of failure again now. It's like there's a second wave of players playing now for who it's their first souls game. They seem to know how to go fast and where to go on the map, but they don't know boss movesets and get hit a lot and use bad weapon or sorceries and incantations. Like they have no prior game knowledge. So at first it seems like a run is going very well, but the further you get the more you're struggling. Or maybe it's just the time of the day.

Usually i dont, but it was a known issue in the day 1 patch notes and they said they are working on it so...
its has 150K players right now on steam, if ain't broke to the point of stooping ppl playing they ll take their time AND while they sell tons of copies with their ancient broke engine they ll not update that shit and we ll continue to get broke games from them.

I've felt the opposite. The first several days I could barely scrape together a win. Now the last day or two, I'm on like a 5 game win streak including beating dark drift and final boss blind first time.

Hmm, maybe I'm just unlucky with matchmaking then. Also have the feeling I'm matched with a lot of duo's.

Yeah that's the thing with randoms. It's just pure luck. You would think a decent chunk of the population would be getting better so it's more likely to get more experienced players unless you're just getting unlucky like you said. I kinda thought I got matched with a duo on my first noklateo run. I could barely keep up since they were whizzing around the place but not sure. They certainly knew how to play though.

Side note: as much as I (and everyone) hate scarlet rot, I think the rot forest is the best shifting earth. Just packed with bosses and the reward is nice if you don't have the equivalent relic yet.

Finished the final Night Lord last night after 35hrs of total playtime. Really enjoyed the game and glad I gave it a chance. Still had frustrations with matchmaking (e.g. randoms leaving, idiots, etc.) and performance on PS5 Pro, although with performance it seems like VRR was the issue as the firmware update a few days ago resolved the stuttering I was having (didn't realize the firmware was auto applied and I kept thinking "this game is running smoother all of a sudden for some reason"). I will probably go back in and play some more. Still haven't encountered a few of the raids and only part of a remembrance.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to become unstable under some circumstances during the battle against Adel, Baron of Night.

Thank god, I'm stuck on this boss and the performance on PS5 just falls apart on Phase 2, its killed me more than once

Yeah I don't mind if people aren't good players and/or are new to the game. But you can easily brute force yourself through day 1 and 2 and then to wipe so easily on day 3 that it can be a bit anticlimactic, especially if it happens so frequently. And you can get unlucky yourself too, with only have bestial sling as a damaging incantation on Revenant for instance.

The mountaintops are also great if you combine it with the ice dragon boss. With all the frost resistance and stuff.

Yes indeed

Got two more cataclysm events to complete for those set of trophies, just solo'd the crater for the legendary upgrade, was easy. Still haven't completed the Ironeye remembrance for Darkdrift Knight, this fucker can eat a dick lol.

Are both your NAT types open?
Yeah. It had been working perfectly all night. Just had one random blip where it seemingly shit the bed.

This game is bullshit but I love it for some reason. Currently have beaten all the nightlords with Wylder and have 4 down with The Guardian.

All the rememberances I can do so far done now, some decent relics coming in from them

Also I didn't realise, that the weapon starts like 'Increased Range Damage' stack and are in effect by just having the weapon on you and not when being used

Any beginner tips? I wasn't going to play this game, but my sister bought me it and wants me to play with her and her friend, so I'm installing now to play in a few hours.

Have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours across From titles, just did no research into how the class systems and such work in this one.

wylder or ironeye are probably the easiest classes to wrap your head around as a beginner. since you have experience with the other titles, you can probably choose any class you like. the sparring grounds and visual codex are recommended to check out before you start your runs to check out stat/weapon scalings. wylder is just your str/dex quality build and ironeye is your ranged bow class. both are easier to have success with, especially wylder since he has a passive which allows a cheat death that restores every time you hit up a grace. especially as a beginner, it's essential to get a +2(purple) weapon sometime during day 2. if you go into the mine/caves, you'll fight either a troll/pumpkin head/knight miniboss that drops a +2 smithing stone that you can use to upgrade a weapon to +2. you can buy a +1 smithing stone if you dont find any (they also drop often in chests in the mines) at the merchants where you can upgrade weapons. even your base starter weapon at +2 is usually better than a +1 random weapon. also, even if random junk drops that you otherwise wouldn't use, look at the passives that the item has. these passives are active even if you don't have that particular item equipped.

Kill enemies, don't die.

Good to know about the passives in inventory. Unless it explicitly explains that, I probably would miss that for a bit.

Levels are more important than flasks, get weapons that have affinity against the bosses. Don't shoehorn yourself to your class. Like if I am playing iron eye I always try to get the best sword or hammer ... not just bows. Stack blouses ..

2nd Boss finally down after 23 hours, was a good run with Randos that knew what they were doing, I even no hit the boss thanks to them actually tanking properly as I was Ironeye

Along with what others have said,

  • Check what is the night lord weakness and hit the camp with that element on one of the two days to get at least one weapon with that element.
  • Hit the mine at least once to get the smithing stone so that you can upgrade the weapon before night lord
  • Carry at least one bow with good passive so you can revive a downed teammate from a distance.
  • Eat all element resistance consumables immediately as they last forever.
  • Protect your teammates and help reviving them either by reviving yourself or distract boss so other player can.
  • Have at least 5 flasks before facing 3rd day.
  • Avoid fighting tanky field bosses.
  • Try to do one or two evergaol.
  • And lastly kill enemies, don't die.

Finally beat Darkdrift Knight in a perfect expedition with the whole team (randos) at level 15.

As Revenant I got like 35% FP reduction, 30% FP restore on successive attacks, lots of extra incantation/lightning damage, the Lightning Bolt incantation (which absolutely rules!), and to top it off, Radahns Greatswords from a field boss we pulled into the final circle on the second night.

But I gotta say, the MVP was our nutso bow-less Ironeye, who tanked the everliving shit out of Fulghur so I could drop lightning bolts all over his horsey ass. Dodging pretty much everything and putting up weak points.

That's gotta be my pro-tip for him, Lightning Bolt is incredibly strong since you can repeat it and seemed to quite frequently stun him (got in 3 or 4 stuns from that).

Just Equilibrous Beast to go and then I'll start trying the final boss!

One extra tip about the boluses (and other items on the ground really):

If you hold Triangle and press Up (PS5), you instantly consume whatever item you're looking at, without having to make space for it. Can actually make a huge difference sometimes when useful items are on the ground in combat.

Thank you for this. About to hop in.

Avoid fighting tanky field bosses.
the amount of people I've seen go down to field bosses I knew would be a bitch is crazy, they just run headfirst into death and I just watch them instantly get one-shot

The goat fucker known as the Darkdrift Knight has *finally* been defeated. Was playing with randoms (as literally always), I was Raider and we had an Ironeye/Recluse. We mostly steamrolled through everything, prior to the final battle we beat a field boss that gave me a revive stone, ultimately not needed though, we got it done. One big factor was me getting a colossal weapon with scarlet rot from a boss drop.

Have to say, I don't much like playing as Recluse (despite the fact that I usually *love* playing as a mage in RPGs) because of how much there is to manage vis-a-vis the constant time pressure, doesn't gel well with the formula/pace in Nightreign. However, I absolutely dig having a skilled Recluse in the party, in capable hands she can do so much wild damage and her Ultimate is one of the best, props to all the capable Recluse players out there 🫡

All Nightlords down, will now focus on my remaining trophies for the plat.

I don't know if this is real, a couple of these affixes I've never even seen after nearly 70 hours clocked but if so God damn:

It's real, I have relics for all of those (none so good as those shown).
I usually run with +1 character skill and a character skill cooldown +2 on Ironeye. It's basically infinite invincible dodges with the iframes.

So, I've been playing quite a bit; I've three bosses to go. When things go well, this game almost gives me a boner. Constantly seeing new things, like I just got invaded by a swarm of some shit that was stealing me levels, wtf.

Can you decide on map type somehow? I used the bed and reset mine, now it's random depending on who I match with.

Beat Libra on first try! It was getting down to the wire, but our Wylder managed to finish him off in dramatic fashion with his Onslaught Stake. Also, holy shit that music is maddeningly awesome.

Had a second go at him on the same evening where one of our mates left. We still managed to ALMOST get him. I was too reckless and ran out of healing early and got defeated trying to rescue my partner.

Also got the Noklateo shifting earth event, but unfortunately was only able to explore it properly on one run where my team was willing to go there. Really really cool change to the map with lots of stuff going on. Unfortunately, the run I completed it with my Wylder it ended and THEN I got the Remembrance quest to go there :messenger_tears_of_joy: Oh well, will have to wait til it comes back.

Beat the final boss finally. 2 ironeye and me with duchess. Didnt go down once, we melted him. The new skin unlocks are pretty sick. Now im waiting for the hard mode bosses

After beating all the bosses does the game intentionally pair you with noobs to carry them? I can't believe the fucking fools I've been paired with the past couple of days, not even making it to the Nightlord most of the time, nevermind beating it, was definitely NOT my experience up until now, Jesus Christ. Yesterday I dropped a legendary weapon for a Guardian, my Duchess doesn't need that shit. Dude dies within 10 seconds of the boss battle, gets revived, promptly dies again ffs.

Just need to beat Nightlords with Recluse/Duchess for that particular trophy and the game is doing everything in it's power for that not to happen lmao

I have yet to encounter a walking mausoleum after 80h.

Only 3 trophies to go (crater, mountain, champion's path) , then I'll do the rest of the remembrances.

I'm having the same problem. I thought picking Augur for the Champion's Path trophy instead of the Tricephalos would prevent that, but all I'm getting is deeply religious idiots that just want to visit every church instead of actually killing things...

Duchess with the right relics and a good team is completely broken!
I used Improved Character Skill and 2x Skill Cooldown +2 relics, teamed with a Wylder and a Raider and was just spamming Retrigger. We cleared the whole castle on day 1 and were level 12 for the 1st night boss.
Sadly we had no Shifting Earth event, so all we could do on day 2 was go on a murder spree on all field bosses.

Doing well now, on to Auger and becoming a Recluse main easily so far,

The Shifting Lands Mountaintop sucks though, randonly taking levels from you whilst the enemy to beat to get them back is a tanky Ice Dragon in a arena constantly causing Frostbite just feels really unfair

Don't fight it. Run past it the 2 times it shows on the way to the top, then get the Dormant power that reduces frostbite effect and build up by 50% and you can fight it, if you want, on the way down.

So despite that weirdness with the lost levels, I somehow managed to pull off a satisfying Auget kill, which weirdly was easier than the raid it does

And this unlocks the final boss it seems, so thats nice, not doing it until I beat the others but I have a good Recluse start build going and its making me enjoy Mage builds something I don't use in Souls games
