1st time PlayStation will be taking a fighting game seriously with Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls & even releasing a low latency wireless fighting stick.

1st time PlayStation has a top selling shooter Helldivers II

1st time PlayStation has had a platformer winning multiple game of the year awards with Astro Bot

1st PlayStation to get the biggest Xbox games


Grand Theft Auto VI is hitting PS5 after the whole PS4 generation was skipped over without a new mainline GTA game .

EA Sports College Football also skipped the whole PS4 generation but now releases on PS5.

Most of our favorite games have been rereleased on PS5 with enhancements or will be rereleased with enhancements.

We can play our favorite games on the go with PS Portal & now there is rumors of PS5 living on as a Portable in a few years.

Sidenote: How come no one talks about the fact that Sly (Cooper) 3 a PS2 game from 20 years ago look perfect in 4K on PS5?

How is this the worst PlayStation generation?

If you have to add all types of different *'s to come up with reasons why it's the worst generation you might be the problem.

You will attract the angry responses of people who only like the AAAA action-adventure Sony games, don't give a fuck about Astro Bot, Helldivers 2 or Tokon, have a irrational hatred against cross-gen, hate the idea of PS6 Portable, and worst of it, have Uncharted 2 as their favorite Sony game.
 
Look, here's the thing. There's never been a bad playstation. So "worst" is a relative term.

If I'm only counting Sony's output, maybe I would say this gen has been their worst output but if I'm counting the PS5 device itself, the PS5 is the best Playstation they have ever made by a longshot. It has the best release schedule of anything. Is has the best slate in gaming and it's not even close. PS5 is a monster console that will have an amazing legacy and everyone should own one.

Is that good enough?

In terms of high quality exclusive games- for sure, having a desktop pc only 2 games i really wanna play and cant not owning ps5/pr0 is demons souls remaster and astrobot, both amazing af but in my book 2 games is still not enough to buy console just yet, i will wait till end of the gen/see if ps6 is backwards compatible and buy one then xD

I've been there since literal PS1 day one and I love them all fairly closely.

I actually have the least personal affection to PS2, but that's probably because I was gaming much less during those years.
 
When it comes Sony internal exclusives games then absolutely.

Then entire PS5 generation the only exlusive game I like from Sony own studio was Astro Bot….i don't think that's gonna change anytime soon until Team ASOBI makes another game.

This Gen PS5 is my multiplatform machine.

It's the least interesting for me personally. That's not all on Sony's shoulders of course, but I do think their GAAS push might be their biggest blunder since the PS3 hardware design/pricing.

My favorite Sony game is Days Gone and I would not bother with any of their modern releases if they were being given out for free. Does that upset you?
 
It'd be nice if we had the constant rain of hit after hit after like we seemed to in the PS2 days, but game development just doesn't work like that anymore. IMO we still get great games. They just take forever to create.

It's easily the worst for me. Every Sony game I care about (except Gran Turismo and Astro Bot) is better on PC. And I don't really care for Sony's big budget cinematic AAA blockbusters anyway.

By far it'll end up the least used PlayStation console I've owned. I feel like I could've skipped it entirely.

And OP, if you love your PS5 that's great. But it sounds like you're getting all upset because other people have different opinions about it. Good luck convincing them otherwise.
 
You can't beat nostalgia. So the PS1 and PS2 era will always win. PS3 have on top of it some great games like MGS4, GOW 3, TLOU. This leaves PS4 with a full gen against a PS5 that have a cross gen that is not truly over today. For me this is why some people will still consider the PS5 the worst gen.

I like the PS5 and play it almost daily. But I've been disappointed by Sonys games and their redesign of PS+ is ass. The gaas shit has been a disaster. But, it's still a good video game system.
 
It is the first playstation that I have not owned. So for me, it is the worst. If you like it, that is great. Have fun with it.

Not having them available at launch was a huge hindrance. The exclusives are not interesting to me anymore or eventually come to PC. Stellar Blade is the first exclusive that I even care about and it just came to PC.

My reason is very simple…..Sony stopped making the games I like.

I would say that's more than enough reason for me to call this worse generation for PlayStation.
 
Yes? What is the measurement? Sales? I can't think of a single game I actually needed a ps5, Astrobot was good but not a game I buy a console for… I feel like Sony has no competition currently - but they're fucking it up so badly that it will eventually bite them in the ass

There's been nothing since GT7 🤷‍♂️ Nothing. PlayStation used to be good for niche stuff early like Neptunia & Disgaea but you can just get them on PC nowadays same day.

I did pick up a Pro recently after selling the PS5 at Xmas, mainly for Death Stranding 2, maybe GTAVI too, but there's nothing else :messenger_neutral:

I almost skipped it as well, but I thought the second half of its life would bring the first party games. To be fair there's still some time left, but I'm not expecting tons of PS exclusives this gen. My favorite PS titles are stuff like Shadow of the Colossus and Ghost of Tsushima.

I just can't see myself caring about PS6 unless it is a handheld hybrid device.
